If we look at the specification comparison table of both the camera we can spot only tow major difference, the first difference is use of advance AF system bu the newly announced X-T2 camera and the other option is X-T2 can record 4K video without a doubt for 29 mins.
Fuji X-T2 vs X-T1 – Sensor Comparison
Sensor: Both camera features almost same sensor, the resolution of both the camera and the type of sensor used inside is exactly same. The ISO level of both the camera and the image processor used inside the camera is is also same, hence we can’t expect any big difference in the image quality of both the camera.
Fuji X-T2 vs X-T1 – AF analysis
AF System: If we look at Fuji X-T2 camera then it features advance AF system compared to X-Pro 2 camera. The Fuji X-T2 uses 325 points, these AF points covers up 50% of the width and 75% of the height of the imaging area. Hence the user of the camera get compositional freedom and able to lock down AF without having a second thought. Fuji also added a new and improved Continuous AF algorithm to the X-T2 camera and the Cont. AF modes have been seriously upgraded. With the help of new algorithm you can track and lock AF on moving subjects more quickly and accurately.
The Fuji X-Pro 2 has 273 AF points, out of 273 77 are Phase AF points and approx 40% of the imaging area is covered by AF points. It also gives you compositional freedom but not as much as Fuji X-T2 gives.
The shutter speed and the continuous shooting speed of both the camera is same, however the X-T2 features advance AF alogrithm which will be soon added to X-Pro2 also via a firmware update.
