Sony confirms again [see previous post of confirmations] that they are actively working on enthusiast APS-C camera. This is not the first time we are getting confirmation from the makers itself, few days back we have published a Sony interview in which Sony rep. said.. but as development team we would like to do our best to “be able to” exceed customers’ requests.
Take a look at some parts of interview
Now focus goes on APS-C and FF telephoto lenses (for Olympics):
Of course we are trying to expand the APS-C series of cameras. That maybe implies not only one product. We have the opportunity to develop a type of enthusiast APS-C model, and the enthusiasts, especially the US ones are waiting for this type of model. We are trying to increase our APS-C customers
And we implied we are working on the sports area, that implied not only a 400mm f/2.8 lens is coming. So we are implying many things, but not directly saying “next model is this one, the next model is this one”. But we’re focusing on sports and we’re focusing on the APS-C area.
1. It’s already too late Sony, Wake up
It’s already too late since, as you can see the first Sony A6000 series camera was introduced back on Feb 2014 and just after a year of gap we have the successor of Sony A6000 camera, the Sony A6300.
The Sony A6300 was introduced on Feb 2016, [after 1+ year of gap] but due to the sensor overheating issues in that particular model. Sony quickly announced the A6300 camera update in the same year (October 2016) the Sony A6500 camera.
2. Sony You have the Tech
The Fuji X-T3 and X-T30 sensor us made by Sony, And as we all know that X-T3 sensor performance is beating up Sony A6500 flagship camera. You can notice color noise in Sony A6500 camera sample image at ISO 25600.

3. Sony 26 MP APS-C Sensor in Sony Next Flasghip Camera – Sony A6700?
Yes, it’s the most advance APS-C sensor Sony have right now in its arsenal. And as you can see Sony developer team said they want to exceed customer expectations this time.
We have received leaked Sony A6700 leaked specification in past and they look feasible too. I do expect, Sony next flagship camera coming with brand new sensor and image processor to exceed still shooters exceptions with and addition of 4K 60p 4:2:2 10 bit Video mode, S-log, log2, log3, HLG profiles.
Sony A6700 Confirmations from Sony. In a latest interview Sony confirmed that the Sony A6700 camera in works and will exceed people expectations.
– Are you talking about updating the α 6500? There is no content to talk specifically at the present time.
– Although it is a lens for APS – C who does not listen for a long time about the new product, what will happen in the future? We have received various requests as a request. Future talks and concrete lineups can not be mentioned in this place, but as development team we would like to do our best to “be able to” exceed customers’ requests.
It’s the same answer we are getting for Sony Upcoming cameras ?
Do you remember EOS HD interview ? for Sony A7S III camera..
Take a look at the 4Min interview, where Sony confirms nothing. But the only one thing they confirm in 4min interview is that Sony A7S III will go beyond people expectations but it will take time.
But the big question is how much time ?
At the time I am writing this post, We have no new Sony Mirrorless camera registered in Wireless certification agency across the globe.
Sony Only registered RX0 successor few months back and we have spotted it in FCCID too. Once the camera is registered in any wireless certification agency it roughly takes at least 3 months of time to become official.
And the entire situation confirms us, no Sony Fullframe Mirrorless or Compact APS-C camera coming in next three months / Before May of 2019.
let’s talk about the list of upcoming Sony camera in the year of 2019. The most awaited camera is of-course the Sony A7 S III. We have heard a lot about its features in rumor mills, Sony also confirmed via interviews that Camera will have more than what people are expecting. Sony A7S III camera is rumored to arrive at the first or second quarter of 2019. But not only Sony A7 S III, me to have a list of cameras those who are expected to arrive this year.
1. Sony A7S III
Sony A7S III camera is expected to arrive in the 1st or 2nd quarter of 2019. We have a lot of leaked information related to upcoming Sony A7S III camera (check all here). The Upcoming Sony A7S III camera is expected to arrive with 8k or 6k video recording capability. Not only that, we have also got some hints that Sony may use 36 megapixel full frame sensor inside the Sony upcoming A7S III camera (however, Sony uses low res sensor in A7S series camera, so we are waiting for further confirmation). And one more information surprised us that upcoming camera may feature Dual base ISO, for the first time in any Sony Mirrorless camera. It’s bit obvious to have improved built-in IS and new Hybrid AI based AF system. Sony A7S III camera is coming with a big jump in core specification that we have seen inside the Sony A7S II camera.
2. Sony A7R IV
Sony A7 IV camera is also expected to arrive in the year of 2019. Now, if we look in past Sony have a good history of announcing the Sony A7R series camera after a year of gap. Now let’s talk about the set of information we actually have and the possible scenario of Sony next announcement. It’s look like sony is now done with its Fullframe camera announcements and finally we will be having some great APS-C Mirrorless camera announcement ahead.
In an interview with Sony manager Mr. Tanka at photokina 2018 news event, he said
Mr. Tanaka: Originally there was a lineup of APS-C cameras as the entrance of the user to the E mount, but for the time being as a requirement of our existing users who are many pros and high amateur users, we must first enrich the high end, for a while I was on holiday. However, the high end also had all this, so it is probably a good time.
Some Speculations about time of announcement
From pronews.jp (translated version)
Although it says that it can not make a statement as to the release timing, it is that he wants to continue to report again at a time when it is not so disappointing. CP + etc etc of next year has become very much looking forward to.
Why CP+ ? Since Sony do not have any new camera in registered wireless certification agency. more details below
No new camera in Announcement Pipeline for now
Now if you look at the Japanese trusted sources information sheet, then we do not have any new APS-C or Fullframe Sony camera registered at Indonesian wireless agency for wireless certification. That clearly indicates that, no Sony big announcement is near around us. Probably as the Japanese news website is saying, we may see a Sony APS-C mirrorless camera announcement and the beginning of 2019 or maybe during the CP Plus event.
stay with us and we will going to update you soon as we get any new set of information related to Sony upcoming cameras and lenses.
Sony registered a APS-C new sensor IMX342LQA of 31 MP resolution and global shutter. The sensor features 4:3 aspect ratio so, for sure this sensor is not going to be used inside consumer cameras because of its aspect ratio.
However, many websites claim that this Sensor will going to be used inside the Sony A6700 camera. This isn’t true with the aspect ratio the sensor have. However, modified version of this sensor can be used for future Sony cameras.
Sony 31 MP APS-C IMX342LQA Sensor Details
– APS-C size
– 31.5 megapixel
– FSI (Front Side illuminated)
– global shutter
According to latest rumors coming coming veteran rumor mill Sony have some kind of camera or lens announcement on Mid May 2018 from Sony. Well that a really good news from Sony if it’s true.
Now, I am really excited to see what coming next, because literally we don’t have have any information about upcoming products right and as I always say, most of the time we get lot’s of leaked images & specs before the arrival of any camera. But in the year of 2018 Sony look bit more strict.
The WW 771132 camera was registered few month ago in wireless certification agency. Take a look what we expect next from Sony
1. Sony RX100 VI is in announcement pipeline – With a New 1″ sensor and advance AF the camera is expected to arrive Soon. The camera already crossed scheduled update time-cycle and not only that approx 7 months already passed from RX10 IV official release (RX10 IV was carrying the same sensor as of RX100V). So, now its completely safe to announce the new RX100 VI camera with New sensor and advance core specification.
2. Sony A6700 – We have already published the leaked core specs of the upcoming camera. The camera is said to have eyetracking AF as of Sony A9 camera and 4K video recording at 60p mode.
3. Sony A7S III – We don’t have much details about the Sony A7S III camera, but it’s bit logical to assume that Sony will use stacked CMOS sensor in it’s upcoming A7S series camera. Sony A7S II update is overdue and expected to arrive this year.
