Sony has just rolled out a massive firmware update for its most popular cinema cameras—the Sony FX3 and the Sony FX30. So, this is not a minor tweak. In this article, we are going to explore the major changes that will be made with these firmware updates. We have directly taken official update data from Sony.com, and we are highlighting here the major advantages of the new firmware compared to the previous versions we have in the Sony FX30 and the FX3 cameras.
Yes, the new firmware update that we are getting does bring a major change, which includes user interface improvements, advanced shooting modes, RAW output capabilities, and seamless cloud connectivity. They actually listened and addressed real pain points for pros shooting with Sony FX3 and FX30 cameras in fast-paced environments. These updates will potentially save time, reduce errors, and open new creative doors.
We all know that the Sony FX3 and FX30 are already workhorse cameras, but after this update, they will become, for sure, cinematography monsters. So let’s see the list of updates we have with the new firmware:

1. A Revamped Home Screen: Streamlining Your Pre-Shoot Workflow
One of the biggest advantages with this new update is we have a new dedicated home screen dubbed as BIG6. In the BIG6, you have all the important shoot settings in front. In the BIG6 boxes visible in your frame—starting from the left, it’s FPS; in the next box, there is ISO; and on the extreme right, we have shutter speed.
Now in the bottom part, again starting from the extreme left, we have the lens aperture setting, the LUT you are using, and finally, the white balance.
It is really helpful if you are busy in a high-stakes documentary shoot or doing cinematography. It’s not always easy to jump into the Sony complex camera menu system and bring out and edit each of your workflow settings. So this gives you, on-screen, all the available settings at a single glance, and the chances of error become very low. At the very same time, the camera becomes a run-and-gun camera which directly boosts productivity that allows creators or cinematographers to focus on storytelling, mood of the shot instead of diving into the menu system of your camera.
2. Enhanced Slow & Quick (S&Q) Modes: Greater Creative Control Without the Hassle
Adds a Fixed/Variable mode that supports S&Q shooting settings by directly specifying the shooting frame rate without needing to set the S&Q mode.
Sony has now introduced a fixed and variable mode for S&Q shooting, now letting users specify their frame rates directly without jumping into the dedicated menu. So now you have the freedom to select your maximum frame rate that is available only in S&Q settings, in your existing shooting mode. It means whatever mode you are using, the S&Q maximum frame rate is now available to you.
So this particular update expands the high-frame-rate capabilities of your camera. Once the update is done, you don’t have to switch to different modes and break your shooting flow. You can upskill the setup to a maximum extent available—like directly jumping from 24 FPS to 120 FPS in 4K with the FX30 camera without interrupting the workflow.
3. Focus and Monitoring Upgrades: Precision for Demanding Shoots
The update adds 1.5x and 1.6x magnifications to the De-Squeeze Display. The Focus Magnifier and the Auto Magnifier have now been added to the anamorphic De-Squeeze mode. So whether you are shooting with 1.5x or 1.6x lenses/options for discreet display, you now have the ability to magnify the focus area while you are in Manual Focus mode. That ensures a tack-sharp focus without any guesswork.
Adds support for the Focus Magnifier and Auto Magnifier in MF settings while using the Bright Monitoring feature. The Bright Monitoring integration actually means you can magnify extremely dim light areas—a huge win over older firmware where this was limited. This advantage shines when you are involved in professional workflows/projects, and where precise focus can make or break a shot.
4. RAW Video Output Revolution: Blackmagic RAW via HDMI
Many of the Sony users who were buying these professional cameras were asking why Sony is avoiding Blackmagic RAW. But now, Sony has finally listened to all of you, and you can get Blackmagic RAW from both the FX30 as well as the Sony FX3 via the HDMI port. So it actually opens the door to external recorders like the Blackmagic Video Assist to record the video. The other advantage also includes a massive jump in color grading and post-production.
5. List of Additional Updates Added to Both Cameras
- Allows the camera to automatically recognize the USB-LAN conversion adapter (sold separately) and connect to the network when powered on
- Allows the remaining capacity of both storage devices to be displayed during movie recording when using Simult. or Auto Switch Media (Relay Recording)
- Allows the optical density of pre-registered ND filters to be recorded in the metadata
- Allows the filtering of camera images for smartphone transfer and FTP transfer using Clip Flag
- Allows the direct upload of camera videos to Creators’ Cloud based on OK/NG/KEEP flags
Settings must be adjusted in the Creators’ App in advance. For more information, please visit the Creators’ App support website.
Ver. 3.1.0 or later of the Creators’ App is necessary.
This service may not be available in some countries or regions.
For more information, please visit the Creators’ Cloud support website.
6. Supports the Following Monitor & Control App Functions:
- Manual framing function
- Attach Clip Flag
Notes:
Ver. 2.4.0 or later of the Monitor & Control app is necessary.
The Monitor & Control app may not be available in some countries or regions.
7. Security & Stability:
-
- The Security (IPsec) functionality is no longer supported. Please enable and use Access Authentication as it provides more secure protection
- WPA and WEP functionalities are no longer supported. You will no longer be able to select WPA or WEP when connecting to Wi-Fi. Please use the more secure WPA2 or WPA3 moving forward
- Improves the operational stability of the camera
This firmware is not just a normal firmware update — this is a complete transformation of your Sony FX30 and Sony FX3 camera into a Sony Venice-style professional cinematography camera. It exploits the camera hardware to its maximum potential available, addressing user feedback for a better user interface, creativity, and integration of all the key major features possible at this moment with the available set of hardware performance.
So this major update will give the two Sony cameras a competitive edge over other rivals in the $5,000 cinema camera range available from different brands. And the best part is — the firmware update is available for free; you don’t have to pay a single penny to download it.

We are very much excited to share this update with you, and at the very same time, we are also excited to know — have you installed it? And what are your experiences with this latest update? Let us know in the comments section!

More Rumored Cameras arrival we are expected to arrive in September
Sony A7 V Camera: Sony is about to announce its ultra-popular A7 series. The update is overdue, and the past set of rumours we received in the earlier months of 2025 point to September. So we were expecting the Sony A7 V camera on or before September 2025, and we are still expecting the same. You can browse more details about the Sony A7 V camera here.
The other camera in the announcement pipeline is:
Canon R6 Mark III: Canon R6 Mark III is another model that we are expecting in 2025. We have already published its rumoured specifications, and we have confirmed that it is coming with a 30+ megapixel sensor. The camera is coming with a significant update for photographers as well as videographers, and its early test phase has been completed. Now we are waiting for its official announcement. But for the past 5 years, I have noticed a change in Canon’s announcement pattern. Canon has specifically avoided Aug and September for their Mirrorless camera announcement, so if they follow the same path, the earliest arrival date we can expect is October of 2025.
Let me know if you’d like this turned into a blog post or a YouTube video script next.

Nikon’s latest sales data is coming from Japan Yodobashi Camera, a leading Japanese electronic retailer. According to the stats, the top 10 best-selling interchangeable lens cameras — Nikon steals the show since it stands out with 4 models in the ranking, more than any other brand, highlighting its popularity in the lens lineup.
Now in the first rank, we have the Sony A7C II camera, in the second, it’s Fuji, and Canon also has two models in the entire list. This diverse list shows intense competition in the mirrorless camera market of Japan.
Top 10 Best-Selling Cameras
Below is the ranking of the top 10 interchangeable lens cameras based on Yodobashi Camera’s sales data:
Brand Performance Breakdown
To visualize the ranking system properly, we have created a graph of the top 10. The chart shows the number of models secured by each brand.

The Sony A7C II Dominant Run
Sony A7C Mark II camera continues to dominate the market, and it has secured its first position either with the body or with the zoom kit lens not only in August, but it’s better to say it has been a top performer throughout 2025 — leading in January, February, March, July, and August. So what does it reflect? A lot of people love this hybrid camera for its price point and the feature-packed performance.
Fujifilm and Canon Hold the Ground
Fujifilm X-M5 with its 15-45mm kit lens remains in second position even this month. So those people who love retro design and film simulations prefer Fuji cameras.
Canon, with its R50 model, dominates the worldwide ranking — in the USA, it is on top. But in Japan, the R50 with its double zoom kit lens is in its 5th position. The good thing is we also have the Canon R10 camera with the 18-150mm lens at the 7th position. So slowly but steadily, they are making a competitive edge.
The Trend of APS-C Cameras
As you can notice in the list, 7 topmost models are APS-C, so this is a slight shift from full-frame-heavy rankings in previous years — specifically in 2025. That clearly shows the demand for affordable, versatile APS-C cameras in the market, which are dominating the Japanese sales right now in 2025.
So these were the actual figures of the Japanese camera market right now. If you want to explore who is number one in America right now, then you can browse this article.

DJI Mini 4K Drone – 7000 Sold Last Month, Now $249 on Amazon – Act Fast!

By admin, on August 24th, 2025

August 2025: Canon R50 again scores the top position as the best-selling mirrorless camera: If you are searching for the best mirrorless camera in 2025, then obviously Canon R50 should be your best choice. It’s a hybrid camera for beginners. Whether you are interested in photography or videography, this one is suitable for you. Now we have been keeping the data from Amazon since July, and according to the best sales data, the Canon R50 has secured its #1 spot as the best-selling camera for two consecutive months—July and August. That clearly means the Canon R50 is giving exceptional performance to its users at a very reasonable price point. That’s why it is leading the entry-level mirrorless camera market in the USA. At the same time, in this article, we are going to dissect the rankings—why it stayed at the number one position. At the same time, we are going to explore its key features, compare it with the competitors, and uncover the market trends that are driving the R50’s dominance in 2025. So if you are a beginner photographer, a content creator, or a beginner videographer, this guide will help you decide whether you should buy the Canon R50 or not.
Aug–July 2025, Canon scores the top four in the Amazon ranking:
We have already covered in July that the Canon R50 is at the top-selling camera. The dominance of the Canon R50 camera clearly shows budget-conscious buyers are preferring the R50. It is a hybrid camera, which means photographers, videographers, content creators, as well as beginner cinematographers—all of them are preferring the same camera. Maybe that’s why the Canon R50 is so popular. It’s appealing to everyone under a beginner budget. You don’t have to buy two different cameras to perform video or photography work. A single one can handle this situation very well.
Why Canon R50 the best mirrorless?
The biggest reason behind its popularity in the USA is the perfect balance of price and features. The Canon R50 camera’s 24-megapixel Dual Pixel CMOS autofocus sensor with more than 4,000 DPAF points locks in no time, and even the 3D auto boxing system tracks moving subjects without any noticeable lag. At the same time, while you are recording videos, we do have the 10-bit HDR PQ option available. Apart from all these features, Canon cameras are well known for capturing perfect skin tones.

The DJI Mini 4K Drone is the latest best-selling Amazon.com drone, and when we have seen almost 7,000 units sold in the past month alone of this drone, it was really a big surprise, and it is now available at $249 with a $50 discount from its usual $299 price. DJI Mini 4K is the best budget 4K drone in 2025 available for creators, vloggers, and hobbyists that offer professional-level features without any FAA registration. But as usual, we know that DJI is potentially facing a lot of bans, and stock shortages are everywhere. B&H has not had the stock of the DJI Mini 4K Drone for the past 2 months; it’s a very clear indication that it’s a must-grab deal. Now I am going to explain to you why this is the best drone available at this budget, and secondly, how you will get an additional discount over the MSRP price of this drone.
Table of Contents
- Why 7,000 Buyers Chose the DJI Mini 4K
- Top Features for Epic Content Creation
- How to Get the $249 Deal on Amazon
- Ban Rumors and Stock Scarcity: Why Now?
- Mini 4K vs. Other Drones

- Final Thoughts: Don’t Miss This Deal
7,000 Chose the DJI Mini 4K
Amazon sales stats clearly show they have sold more than 7,000 units of the DJI Mini 4K last month, which clearly shows the 4K drone’s massive popularity among Amazon.com buyers. At the very same time, no other drone with this feature is available at the same price point, since the DJI Mini 4K is able to deliver professional-grade 4K video at a budget price. Another most important factor is that in most of the online stores, the DJI Mini 4K stock is now exhausted, so the only option left till the stock lasts is Amazon.com.
Top Features for Epic Content Creation
So, what are the big reasons I am going to say that make the existing DJI Mini 4K the most popular? Just a quick look at the major features of the drone, which are making it quite popular in the USA:
- 4K UHD Camera: HQ 4K video at 30fps and RAW photos.
- 3-Axis Gimbal: Being a DJI drone, it can handle wind speeds up to 38kph (Level 5).
- Flight Time: 31 minutes per battery (real-world: 25–28 minutes).
- 10km Transmission: Streams HD live feed up to 6.2 miles with DJI’s O2 system.
- QuickShots Modes: DJI special features – cinematic Helix, Dronie, or Rocket shots with one tap.
- Easy Controls: GPS Return to Home and one-tap takeoff make it beginner-friendly.
How to Get the Better $249 Deal on Amazon
That’s a very important step if you want to get the drone for really $249. You have exactly two options – if you follow these two options, you will get approximately $50 discount on the DJI Mini 4K drone. Otherwise, even without the discount, it is available at a very reasonable price of $299, but we do have these two available sets of offers:
Amazon Visa Deal (Recommended)
Amazon Prime Offer
- Price: $249 (was $299).
- Eligibility: Prime members ($14.99/month or $139/year; 30-day trial available).
- How to Get It: Log in, verify Prime status, and apply the $50 discount at checkout.
- Perk: Free, fast shipping.
Ban Rumours and Stock Scarcity
See, the information that we are getting related to the DJI ban is not just rumours. I have done intensive research on that and also published an article where it has been very clearly shown how DJI is being banned, and from the coming December, there is a probability it could be potentially banned in the USA market. So you can look at this post for getting more details on the DJI ban.
Out of the ban fear, the DJI drone stock is already completely vanished from the B&H store, and most of the drones have not been in stock for the past two months. So what we are expecting right now is that Amazon has a larger inventory of drones, but as you can see, more than 7,000 units of drones have been sold in the past month. That signals a very high demand, and whatever inventory Amazon has right now is going to be exhausted soon.
And after that, we will have only two options: preorder your own, or you can visit the nearest neighbouring place like Canada to buy your favourite drone.
Don’t Miss This Deal
Since the Amazon inventory is getting exhausted very quickly at a rapid rate, what I will recommend to you is that if you are interested in having a drone and are confused, then this is the best one to buy as a beginner. And even if you have it now, if you are someone who uses drones for their professional workflow – that means you are associated with videography, cinematography, and love to have some drone-sourced aerial view in your project – then it’s highly important to have some extra units of drones to make your workflow future-proof.
At $249 price tag, the DJI Mini 4K is the best budget drone for 4K content creation in 2025. But due to the ban risks, the Amazon sales have been skyrocketing over the past few months, and there is a fear of exhausting all the inventory soon. So before that, snag yours before the stock vanishes!

Finally, we got confirmation that Nikon is set to redefine the consumer cinema market camera with its Nikon ZR, Z-mount powerhouse cinema camera fused with the RED Digital Camera cinematic technology, according to the set of latest rumours we have from a tipster –
Nikon’s Z cinema camera launch is fixed for next month!
Although tispter doesn’t share the camera name, the only known Z cinema camera rumor is Nikon ZR, and we have published specs related to Nikon’s first consumer-grade cinema mirrorless camera in the past. Check them here
Nikon ZR – What We Know So Far
Nikon ZR camera announcement timeline completely aligns with the registration of the Nikon N2410 model in April 2025, as reported on our site (July 28, 2025). With 5GHz Wi-Fi support, the N2410 is a premium model, and its 3–4-month post-registration timeline points to a September reveal. Since, as we know, camera makers like Nikon take roughly 3 to 4 months of time to announce a camera once it gets registered in the wireless certification agency.
While the tipster withheld the camera’s name and full specs, as I have said, he was very confident with his line – it will dominate the existing Sony FX2 cinema camera with its core specification. The ZR—rumoured since May 2025 as the “Z RED” cinema camera—fits the profile. Here’s a roundup of the latest rumoured specifications:
Nikon ZR Rumoured Specification
- 24.5MP Partially-Stacked CMOS Sensor: Nikon ZR will use the Nikon Z6 Mark III sensor.
- A large display screen: The ZR will have a large display screen, making it comfortable for professional video workflow.
- Enhanced RED technology inside, which means we will have REDCODE RAW and advanced colour science. Obviously, more details will be revealed with time.
Then again, our New ZR camera is a great push from Nikon in the zone of dedicated cinema cameras. While the official set of specifications remains under wraps, this initial set of hints looks really exciting. The upcoming Nikon ZR is said to be a consumer-grade Cinema Mirrorless camera. Its presence will potentially disrupt existing consumer cinema offerings of Canon and Sony.
Nikon ZR Price
- The same tipster suggested that a price range in between $2,799–$3,499 USD, which looks fairly low compared to the previous rumored price of the Nikon ZR camera,
Stay tuned for more
As the announcement date approaches, that is September 2025, TheNewCamera.com will bring you live coverage including confirmed specifications, pricing, and hands-on insights. You can explore more information related to the Nikon ZR and the registered models.

What’s New Inside the DJI Mic 3
The new DJI Mic 3 introduces revolutionary upgrades. Now it has the blended portability of the DJI Mic Mini with a professional set of custom-tailored features, and despite all these new enhancements inside the Mic 3, the price point remains almost the same — that’s really a great thing. Now it has been teased with a tagline, “Performance That Speaks.” It offers an enhanced audio processing unit inside it. At the very same time, it also has multi-device support. So let’s have a look at the key features of the DJI Mic:
- Multi-Channel Support: You can synchronise up to 4 transmitters to record simultaneously, and these 4 transmitters can be synchronised with 8 receivers. This makes it ideal for multi-camera setups or large-scale productions like interviews or events.
- Extended Transmission Range: A 400-meter (1,312 feet) range with dual-band (2.4 GHz and 5 GHz) auto-switching ensures reliable performance in RF-heavy environments.
- Advanced Audio Processing: 32-bit floating-point recording for clip-proof dynamic range, adaptive gain control to balance fluctuating sound levels, dual-level noise reduction for cleaner audio, and timecode synchronisation for seamless video-audio alignment in post-production.
- Battery and Design Improvements: The charging case provides up to 28 hours of total runtime, with each transmitter offering 14 hours of onboard recording. Transmitters are compact (14 x 28 x 29 mm, 11.7 g), with physical buttons and glowing green LEDs. The receiver has a 1.1-inch AMOLED touchscreen with rotary controls for intuitive operation.
- Additional Features: Omnidirectional pickup, 120 dB max SPL handling, and magnetic mounting options for discreet placement.
So, finally, you know all the major features of the upcoming DJI Mic 3. Let me know which one is your favourite. Let’s compare the DJI Mic 3 versus the DJI Mic 2 and find out the major differences between the two.
DJI Mic 3 versus the DJI Mic 2
Now DJI Mic 3 is actually built on the rock-solid foundation of the DJI Mic 2, which already offers 32-bit float recording and intelligent noise cancelling. However, Mic 3 also offers pro-level scalability and endurance. Let’s explore the major differences between the two in the comparison below:

As you can clearly see, the Mic 3 is custom-tailored for professional workflows. Now, even for drone pilots or filmmakers, if you need multi-channel audio over long distances, this one is efficient for you. However, a small thing that disappoints is apparently the lack of a 3.5 mm input for the external mic. The DJI Mic 2 supports this feature, so users may feel a bit disappointed with the new change.
The DJI Mic 3 is a powerhouse for creators without a doubt, since its features are scalable audio solutions without sacrificing portability or quality. 32-bit float audio, timecode, super extended battery life up to 28 hours with case, and approximately 2x transmission range has been increased. And approximately 8 RX receivers are now being supported with the Mic — so this is a big revolutionary change that we are witnessing inside the new DJI Mic 3. And you’re getting all these advantages at a slightly lower price, which is a big surprise for me that — how is it possible? Well, I am really very excited about the new release to upgrade my studio.
Stay tuned. We will bring more updates related to the pre-orders and where to buy, once the mic gets official on August 28, 2025.
