Let’s talk about the Sony upcoming video dedicated mirrorless camera Sony A7S III. Initial report suggest Sony A7S III camera will have a super jump in resolution. We now have confirmed set of information that Sony developed a 36.4 MP Multi-aspect BSI Stacked CMOS sensor. The sensor Still quality remains limited to Sony A7R III, but new 36.4 MP Sensor utilizes 8K sensor area for creating 4K Videos, as a result the newly developed tech the Sensor gives enormous amount of details in 4K video footage. It surpasses the Video quality all existing Sony Fullframe Mirrlress camera.\

According to the latest rumors, Sony is working on a high resolution 54 megapixel full frame stacked BSI CMOS sensor. The Sensor based on same architecture of Sony A6500 camera sensor.
In that post the source of the rumor mill also confirmed that the 26MP sensor being used inside the Fuji X-T3 camera is made by Sony.
We Already have a bunch of information related to Sony 60 megapixel full frame sensor [see here and here] that is rumored to be used inside Sony upcoming full frame mirrorless cameras. For the first time we are getting news about Sony 54 Megapixel fullframe CMOS sensor.
Sony will use 50+MP Sensor for Sony A7R IV
Despite of creating one of the best high-resolution full frame cameras in the market, Sony is still behind resolution of Canon 5ds R camera. So resolution wise Sony is still lagging behind Canon. And they need to overcome that.
There is a big possibility that Sony may use 54MP or 60MP Stacked CMOS sensor for their Sony A7R IV camera. It’s necessary for Sony to surpass the Canon 5DSR Resolution barrier and to become No.1 in competition.

We have a good news from Sony semiconductor division, they have announced a new 1inch IMX 383 sensor. The new sensor is 20 Megapixel BSI Stacked CMOS sensor. The sensor features continuous shooting speed upto 50 frames per second at full resolution. Which was not possible with the previous generation of sensor, the previous generation Sony 1 inch sensor where Limited 20 frames per second only.
Sony RX100 VII to Use IMX 383 Sensor
Now we are expecting the sensor to be used with the upcoming Sony RX100 VII camera. The new sensor will allow to capture extreme frame rates at HD and full HD resolutions. And there is also a big possibility that we can get 4K at 60 frames per second with 10 bit output via the new sensor.
New image processor and sensor will sure upscale the Core specification of the sony existing RX 100 series camera to a new level. New sensor and new image processor we will give faster continuous shooting a speed at full resolution, with more broad dynamic range, enhanced low light performance and finally better video recording mode.

As you can see from announcement timeline of Sony RX100 series, Sony refreshes it’s RX100 series camera every year. They skipped the update of RX100 on 2017. But at 2018 we had 2 RX100 series announcement, RX100 Va (Amazon.com) and RX100 VI (amazon | B&H). The possible date of announcement of RX100 VI camera is pointing towards June month of 2019 (only if Sony runs on its traditional schedule).

According to latest rumors coming out from rumor mills, Sony Registered two New fullframe sensor with 60MP and 36MP Fullframe Resolution sensor. Take a look at the details of the sensor registered by Sony, Keep in mind Sony never list their Exclusive sensors commercially, for example Sony A9 and Sony A7R III isn’t available commercially yet. So if they use these sensors for their upcoming cameras then don’t except these Sensors will be listed commercially.

Based on the Sensor specs, the camera is able to record High-Resolution videos upto 8K. And it will become a perfect competitor for Panasonic Upcoming Dedicated Video camera for L-Mount.
It’s better to say the sensor will be used for Sony A9 series camera aka A9R and the camera will arrive at a higher price tag than of the existing Sony A7R series camera.

Sony is very aggressive with its fullframe mirrorless line-up, after Canikon announcement Sony market share rapidly dropped from 100% to 67%. Sony will sure announce more new Mirrorless camera in the year 2019 to regain its market share and prevent further loss.

It’s a long gap since Sony A7III feb announcement. And after Canikon announcement, we also have Panasonic S1 and S1R announcement in the beginning of 2019 and they both carry some serious video core specs. and all these fullframe mirrorless system will sure give a very serious competition Sony A7 and Sony A9 line-up. I do believe that in the beginning 2019 we will have the Sony A7S III camera announcement.
