What I am expecting from Sony A6700

I am expecting that Sony A6700 camera must have a fully articulating screen and that will make it a perfect camera for online content creators. Introduction of Dual SD card slot is also on my wish list as well as their should be some sort of High Resolution Mode, similar to other Sony flagship alpha Fullframe cameras.

We will update you soon as we get any new information.

Canon to Expand its Pro APS-C DSLR Lineup

Canon to expand

According to latest rumors surfaced over the web, Canon is planning to expand the Pro APS-C DSLR lineup by adding one more DSLR in between the Canon 90D and the Canon 7D mark III. From Canon latest trend of adding more APS-C DSLR series in the market the rumor look bit logical to us. However, the source of the rumor mill isn’t talking about the arrival time of these DSLRs.

Canon 77D DSLR successor of Canon 760D

From past few years, we have seen that Canon is trying to populate APS-C DSLRs category by giving us more and more options. For example, we have seen the addition of Canon 760D (and its successor Canon 77D). These set of DSLRs introduced to sit somewhere between the Canon 70D/ 80D series and the Rebel Series.

Similarly, last month Canon introduced and new entry level DSLR Canon 4000D in European and Asian region, which creates a new category of super affordable entry level DSLRs while using the canon most trusted (and outdated) 18 Megapixel sensor with contrast based AF.

As I said in the beginning of the article from past actions, it’s very clear that Canon may add more DSLRs to populate its Pro APS-C DSLR category.

Canon and Nikon To Announce Pro Mirrorless Systems - Nikkei Japan

We already know that Canon and Nikon is ready to announce Mirrorless camera, possibly at the end of 2018. Not only that we already know the registered code name of Canon Fullframe Mirrorless camera and at the same time that particular model do have a 30 Megapixel DPAF Sensor inside and all these are confirmed set of specification not a speculation.

Now at the same time Nikon is silent till now and everything looks foggy about Nikon Mirrorless systems. There is no solid information available and even Nikon not registered any new products for wireless certification which is really a annoying thing.

Canon and Nikon To Announce Pro Mirrorless Systems

The most important thing is Nikkei – Leading News paper of Japan admitted that “yes they will going to announce pro models in future”.

TNC – man ki baat

Well DSLR market is shrinking and DSLRs giants also wants to jump on the mirrorless ship. But before they jump they should do a self analysis, why did they failed as a DSLR maker ? Price vs Specs ratio is one of the most important thing that they should care about. Sony is offering a $2K mirrorless camera whose AF system, low light performance and Video is more advance than $5K or $6K flaship DSLRs.

Just imagine if Canon announces a DSLR @  $2K or even $3K whose specs are better than Sony A7III and it support EF mount lenses, which camera will you will buy ? DSLRs sales are going down due to their outdated specs and high cost not due to weight or size.

Sony A7 III High ISO Test

Finally, the first still High ISO test report of the Sony A7 III camera published by dpreview. Take a look at the high ISO test between Sony A7 III, Sony A7R III, Nikon D750 and Canon 5D Mark IV.

Sony A7 III vs Nikon D850 vs Sony A7R III vs Canon 5D Mark IV

Sony A7 II camera noise

As you can see the Sony A7R III is still a best choice for still work since you get a lot of details with high resolution sensor. Despite of having a weak filter inside the Sony A7 III camera the level of details isn’t similar to A7R III due to less resolution.

Nikon D850 is showing unusual color noise on BW image which is unacceptable. However the details are visible and moire is also very well controlled.

And finally we have the Canon 5D Mark IV camera. As we know that Canon cameras do have built-in OLPF and so we are not able to get the 100% details of a subject when compared to Camera without low-pass filter.

Sony A7 III Color noise test

color noise test image

As you can in this test I have kept ISO at 102400, practically I never use ISO above the 12800 in any FF DSLR / Mirrorless camera but to see the difference in test in first look results we have to set the ISO at a higher level.

As you can see clearly Sony A7R III and Nikon D850 color noise levels are well controlled compared to Sony A7 III . Despite of being a canon user for a long time, I have no hesitation is saying that Canon 5D Mk IV is suffering from a lot of color noise and loss of details.

Sony A7III is definitely one of the best  camera ever announced by Sony. I do have some issue but despite if that you are getting a lot features in $2k camera.
