VILTROX has officially announced the Mount Adapter EZ, an electronic adapter that allows Sony E-mount lenses to work with Nikon Z cameras. It’s affordable at $168, and it’s nice to be able to update firmware directly with a USB-C.

The VILTROX EZ adapter actually I was waiting for, I do have some bunch of Sony lenses specifically from Sigma and I have recently purchased this Z30 camera for content creation but I was confused which lens to begin with so I was aiming for the VILTROX air series lenses but just before that VILTROX announced this adapter at an affordable price point so now I can easily use my already existing E-mount lenses that I was using with my ZV series camera on the Nikon Z30.

VILTROX EZ Adapter Major Features

  • Compatible with multiple focus modes including AF-S/AF-C/AF-A/AF-F/MF
  • You can quickly adjust the aperture of the camera body and lenses with aperture rings.
  • The lens adapter sends the EXIF signal to the camera and displays the current information on the screen
  • For lenses that support image stabilization, the function will be maintained even after connection.
  • Anti-vignetting aperture design and unobstructed light entrance. The ring aperture is designed according to the CMOS size to ensure unobstructed light entrance
  • while considering the robustness and durability of the chip contacts.
  • The adapter ring is only 4mm thick, small in size and lightweight at only 52.3g/1.84oz
  • Size: 68.9 x 68 x 12.1 mm

Yes, I have seen the test videos the autofocus of this particular adapter is super perfect at the very same time the adapter also supports firmware updates for future so you don’t have to worry about anything.

Does the VILTROX EZ adapter support Sigma or Tamron E-mount lenses?
Yes the VILTROX adapter does support all the E-mount lenses, either it is made by Sigma or Tamron it keeps all the exact details and supports auto focus auto exposure like a native lens.

Why is the VILTROX EZ adapter so perfect?
Since VILTROX is a brand, that makes lenses for E-mount as well as Z-mount too, their engineers worked hard to sync the two AF algorithms in one and finally developed this particular adapter.

What’s the price of the VILTROX adapter and when will it arrive?
The price of the VILTROX EZ adapter is $180 and is available from 1st week of February 2025 over most online websites like B&H Store and Amazon.com.

Digital Cameras Make a Comeback in 2024: See the Surprising Sales Numbers by CIPA

The digital camera market has shown significant growth in the year of 2024 compared to the previous two years’ sales period. The overall interchangeable lens camera sales figure is really very exciting as you can see in the graph above.

If you talk about the overall sales, then according to the Camera and Imaging Products Association (CIPA), the total worldwide shipments of compact cameras as well as interchangeable lens cameras from January to November of 2024 exceeded the sales period of 2023 as well as 2022. Let’s check the stats now, in November 2024, approximately 823,112 units were shipped, marking a 27.2% increase compared to November 2023.

But if you look at the mirrorless camera stats, then they are a significant contributor to the growth of the overall report of 2024. In November 2024, around 650,474 units were shipped, representing a 29.6% increase from the same month in 2023.

The interchangeable lens camera segment, which includes both mirrorless and DSLRs overall shipment cycle, although DSLR shipments have continuously declined after 2018 as we all know the DSLR makers have stopped research and development and even for the announcement of DSLR cameras. So henceforth, it’s quite reasonable to see a major decline in the overall DSLR shipment.

Now let’s talk about the market share of all three camera makers, Canon leads with 46.5%, followed by Sony at 27.9%, and Nikon at 11.3%. Overall, Canon and Sony again lead the market, and Nikon needs to introduce a more creator-friendly lineup and advanced compacts to gain more market share.

Canon RC Camera Coming?

Is Canon working on an RC [consumer cinema] camera? According to the latest rumor that surfaced on the web via Canon rumor mil, Canon is working on an RC series of video-focused hybrid cinema cameras, similar to what we have seen in a Sony FX30. So, it will be a hybrid cinema camera in a compact, budget-oriented, reasonably-priced body aimed at a larger consumer base.

At the same time, Canon does have very capable full-frame and APS-C cinema sensors. Specifically, the sensor of the Canon R8 camera is a very well-known high-performing sensor. If it comes in a cinema body with all sorts of features that we cinematographers need at a reasonable price, then it will definitely become a market success.

But again, at the time of writing this article, the source of the information does not confirm whether it is an APS-C or a full-frame model. As soon as we get any information related to that, we will update you.

DJI Pocket 4 Creator Combo or DJI Mirrorless - What's Next from DJI?

According to the latest set of rumors, DJI may announce a new product very soon. It all started when someone asked the DJI Supprt team directly on Twitter if there is any possibility of a mirrorless camera system from DJI.

They have acquired Hasselblad and already have a range of medium format mirrorless cameras, there is still no mirrorless system camera under DJI branding yet. Although they are very advanced in making photographic equipment, as is very clear from their drone cameras, gimbals, Creator Kit, and their dedicated Ronin 4D cinema camera.

So after looking at all the possibilities, and with the Internet turning wild on the creative side, the first thing that I checked is that the DJI Pocket 2 Creator Kit is now officially discontinued at the B&H store, and we are the first website to report that.

So it’s a very clear indication that DJI is cleaning up the Pocket 2 combo pipelines or the stock lines, and it’s a very obvious thing when a camera maker or any major brand when they announces a new product. The first thing they do is clear up the stock lines of their previous generation models. Specifically, we are talking about the Pocket 2 Creator Combo. While the Pocket 3 Creator Combo is still available online, they need to make space in the production line as well as in the shelves of their own stores to make room for a new one.

It’s a very clear indication that we may have an announcement of the DJI Pocket 4 Creator Combo camera possibly this year,  2025.

Now again, about the mirrorless camera system, yes, we have had strong rumors in the past that DJI is super interested in announcing their own series of full-frame and APS-C mirrorless camera systems with L-Mount. Based on the set of rumors that we have published—you can check it here— We cannot rule out that possibility either; there is a strong likelihood of seeing a mirrorless lineup from DJI in 2025.
