In an interview published few days ago (see here) Nikon representatives told to amateurphotographer.co.uk that Nikon is not in the mood to develop large sensor mirrorless camera, all of our FB fan and website users said that It is one of the worst decision ever made by Nikon.
But today again a new interview surfaced over the web via dpreview.com, in that interview Mr. Toshiaki Akagi – Department Manager in Nikon’s 1st Designing Department of the Development Center in the Imaging Business Unit Nikon said “We don’t want to deny the possibility of future large-sensor mirrorless cameras. So maybe if there is enough demand we may be able to provide another type of mirrorless camera with larger sensors. This is one of the solutions”
Also look at the key points of the interview —
- Introduction of 4K movie function to our DSLR lineup
- Nikon is studying the possible demand of Nikon D300s successor, since many pro-DX format user upgraded to FX format.
- Nikon is also “studying” the possibility / possible demand of a D3X successor D4X
- and finally “You can expect some new DX lenses in the future. We haven’t forgotten about our DX customers”
So it’s nice to see Nikon is atleast not rigid on its decisions and will announce products based on user and market demand.

2. Nikon D3300 – expected to announce in early 2014 and I think CES is the best place to announce new products worlddwide.
3. Big Sensor compacts from Nikon also expected to arrive in Q1 of 2014. (we are talking about 1 inch sensor compact camera)
4. There is also a probability of announcement of new D4s/D4x camera. More megapixels combined with super speed.

Users are waiting for / Nikon Camera’s should arrive in 2014,
Nikon users are waiting for Nikon D400, We have high hopes that we may see a real D400 DSLR in 2014, Take a look at fresh set of rumored specification arrived in our mailbox few weeks ago.. Nikon D400 may feature 24 MP high performance sensor, 10/11 frames per second continuous shooting, 51-point AF system, ISO expandable to 50-25,600, Dual memory card slots (one CF and one XQD) and lightweight magnesium alloy body.
A bit More
Affordable Version of Nikon DF DSLR – According to our sources yes there is also a strong probability that Nikon will announce a affordable version of Nikon DF DSLR in Q4 of 2014 or Q1 of 2015.
Why people are talking about a affordable DF when we already have Nikon D610 and D800 DSLR? Since Nikon DF is not a part of current series of Nikon DSLRs…..and it is possible if Nikon DF become successful Nikon may announce more products related to DF series in future.

Photoshopped image of Nikon D400
According to latest rumors, Nikon engineers have been working on a new generation EXPEED 4 processor and advance AF system for the Nikon D400, the upcoming camera will also feature LARGE BUFFER, newly developed 24 MP DX format CMOS sensor and advance video mode compared to Nikon D7100.
The current focus is to push as many D7100 sales as possible + Nikon is also waiting for Canon 7D Mk II arrival, as we know the 7D Mk II is rumored to be announced on Q1 of 2014, so we may see Nikon D400 in Q4 of 2013 (probably in September).
