As you can see in the image above Sony and Nikon Listed as Medium/Large Format Exhibitor at PDN PhotoPlus Expo show (Oct 23-26) Exhibitor details page, We are the first website to the publish Nikon Medium Format Lens patent information few days ago (see here) and we truly believe that Sony is also fully capable of making medium format camera / sensor without any doubt.
+1 Canon is not listed as Medium/Large Format Exhibitor.
So it may be possible that we may see some prototypes of Medium format camera from Sony and Nikon at PDN PhotoPlus Expo show (Oct 23-26), however it is confirmed that Sony will announce Sony NEX-FF, NEX-7 successor, A5000 on October 16.

Almost Confirmed that Sony Smart Lens with Built-in sensor and WiFi connectivity expected to arrive in next 2-3 weeks, one lens will have RX100 MII 1″ Sensor and other will have 1/2.3″ 18MP BSI Exmor R CMOS Sensor with 10X zoom capability.

In a recent interview with Barna, the Vice President and General Manager of sensor maker Aptina‘s Consumer Camera Business Unit, Said
‘For Aptina this trend represents an opportunity to expand – not just with 1″ sensors but right up to APS-C,’ he explains: ‘We’ve had a lot of interest. In terms of 1″, we’ve been working closely with our current customer base and have been having interest beyond the customer currently using them – we expect to see cameras announced at the beginning of next year.’
Barna clearly says that compact camera with 1 inch Sensor is coming on Q1 of 2013, We know Nikon is a major client of Aptina, which uses Aptina’s speedy sensors in its 1-series mirrorless cameras, So finally we will see 1 inch sensor compacts from Nikon very soon.

The Sony RX100 M2 vs Canon G1X, the canon G1X have bigger 1.5 inch sensor and big body size, the RX100 M2 is ultra compact camera and features 1 inch sensor, take a look at the major specification
Sensor: Canon G1X features 1.5inch 14 MP sensor, Sony RX100 M2 newly developed 1 inch 20.2 MP BSI CMOS sensor, the photodiodes of Canon G1X are big compared to Sony RX100 M2 camera , so you get better low light performance with Canon G1X.
ISO: Sony offers more ISO range compared to G1X at expandable mode, but Canon big sensor creates less noise at high sensitivity.

Sony RX100 M2 showing sharp details at base ISO, at High ISO both images are almost same, Canon Big sensor doesn’t showing any significant difference.
Lens: Sony zoom lens is limited to 3.6X and Canon offers 4X optical zoom, the aperture range of Sony is better compared to Canon G1X.
Top Continuous speed: The top continuous shooting speed of Sony RX100 M2 is 10fps and Canon is limited to 1.9fps only.
