Canon 4 New Mirrorless Coming on 2015

Canon is rumored to announce 4 new mirrorless camera in 2015, that may also include a fullframe mirrorless camera, However keep in mind that the rumor is of low credibility, so take it as grain of salt.

We also know that, Canon is sleeping in mirrorless section for years and the product development rate / innovation rate of Canon is slow compared to other Camera companies, but in an recent interview published dpreview Canon acknowledge they move quite slow..

Quite often, one of the criticisms leveled at Canon is that the company is a little slow to produce innovation compared to competitors. There’s definitely a perception that Canon goes carefully, and slowly. Is this true?

Personally, I think we’re slow as well. Every day I’m saying ‘speed up, make it faster!’. One of our themes now as a company is upon developing a new technology, to shorten the time between development and when that technology is introduced into a product. We need to shorten that time. That’s our goal.

Sony May be Working on 50 MP Camera

According to latest interview surfaced over the web via Spanish site DSLRmagazine, Akihiro Egawa and Makoto Kanai from Sony said that…

When asked if the current FE lenses can resolve future 50+ Megapixel FF sensor the answer was yes!

So that only means that Sony is working on a 50MP fullframe mirrorless camera as suggest by rumors surfaced over the web few weeks ago.

The camera is expected to arrive on 2015, Sony A9 will cost you approx $3000.

Samsung Major Firmware Upgrade Coming for NX1

Samsung is almost ready to announce a major firmware upgrade for current NX1 Mirrorless camera, the camera features very high-end core specification and un-doubtly it’s one of the best APS-C sensor based camera available in the market right now.

The latest firmware updates takes your NX1 mirrorless camera to the next level, two gamma curves also been added, now users have option to to get video output of timecode over HDMI for users of external recorders. The new firmware also includes higher bitrate setting for Full HD video and many more upgrades for video enthusiastic…

For still shooters, after firmware update the NX1 camera will allow you to assign exposure compensation or ISO to one of the camera’s main control dials, now Auto ISO is available in in manual exposure mode, earlier the setting was missing in NX1… take a look at the list of improvements coming to NX1

Changes in firmware v1.2

Movie mode:

Audio levels adjustable during movie capture
ISO adjustable during movie capture
23.98p and 24p frame rates for 4K UHD and 1080 video
‘Pro’ movie quality setting added for 1080 capture
Wider range of display options, including gridline, center, aspect ratio and action-safe area markers
Output time code over HDMI (for use with external recorders)
C Gamma and D Gamma curves added for movie shooting
Master black level
Luminance level limiting [0-255], [16-235], [16-255]
AF speed control for smoother refocusing (3 settings)
AF responsiveness control (dictates camera’s readiness to change AF subject)
Added tools for selecting and grabbing frames from video

Physical interface changes:

Autofocus lock option in movie mode (if set to AEL button)
AF/MF toggling in movie mode (AF ON button option)
Wi-Fi and [REC] buttons’ functions can be swapped
AF On and AEL buttons’ functions can be swapped
Command dials’ direction of operation can be reversed
Add ISO or Exposure Comp. to command dial (customizable per PASM mode)
DoF Preview and Delete buttons customizable
Auto ISO options (ISO, ISO Customizing, Minimum Shutter Speed) arranged together in menus

Wireless features:

Smartphone App can operate as remote release using Bluetooth
‘Quick Transfer’ to automatically send thumbnails to a smartphone as they’re shot
Pair with multiple smart devices
Check for firmware updates over Wi-Fi

Other additions:

Trap Shot feature – fires shutter when a subject crosses a specified guideline
Samsung Remote Studio for thethered shooting from Windows PC
Samsung to release SDK for Windows to allow independent remote control software creation

Sony - No Medium Format Camera Coming

Sony – No Medium Format Camera Coming according to Sony, In an interview Sony staff confirmed to DCWatch that they are busy in developing and expanding the current A and E-mount camera,

Take a look at the main points of the interview

1) With SLT they have more option to implement new technology inside due the presence of more space.

2) Big sensor camera and more megapixels depends on the market demand, at present Main demand is improve the autofocus performance

3) Sony will going to implement a non-bayer sensor in future, but they are in development stage now.

4) Sony is working on Light Field camera and expected to arrive soon.

5) Hybrid shutters with more range are also coming.

6) According to Sony, the DSLR sales are down due to lack o innovation, sales of mirrorless are up due to the advance technology inside it, not due to the size difference.

7) Both APS-C and Full Frame sensor cameras have a future. Wild life photographers prefer APS-C while landscape photographers prefer FF.

8) They say, It might not be so important to add 5 axis on the A7r yet. It means no 5-axis coming to A7R II.
