Canon Working on 4/3 Format Sensor and 12-385mm F1.8-4.0 Lens

TheNewCamera Exclusive – Yes, Canon is working on 4/3 format sensor as well as 12-385mm F1.8-4.0 Lens for its upcoming camcorder.

This particular patent silently confirms that Canon is also somehow joining the 4/3 format race.  I personally think, instead of working on a single camcorder they should announce a 4/3 format based mirrorless series to compete against Panasonic and Olympus.

Firmware Updates: Canon EOS C300 and Olympus E-M1 II

Firmware updates

Canon issued firmware update for Canon EOS Cinema C300 camera. And Olympus also issued update for the flagship E-M1 mark II camera. let’a take a look at the details below

Canon C300 update

Firmware Version 2.0.9.1.00 incorporates the following correction.

  1. When CN-E70-200mm T4.4 L IS KAS S is attached the following features are enabled:
    1. Autofocus using the Dual Pixel CMOS AF function
    2. The joystick on the camera’s grip unit can be set to operate the zoom.
    3. Manual control of the iris with Camera’s Control dial.
    4. Control of focus, zoom and iris using the separately-sold Remote Controller RC-V100.
    5. Automatic aperture and push auto iris functions.
    6. Start/stop recording on the separately-sold lens grip ZSG-C10.
    7. Retrieval of Lens metadata, such as the model name and the focal distance will display on the camera.

Hasselblad X1D Can Now Use XPan Lenses

Hasselblad today announced XPan compact adapter for Hasselblad X1D. This compact adapter will allow you to use your old Xpan lenses with the new X1D camera. But, at the same time we also know the XPan lenses are no longer in production.

X-Pan lenses doesn’t offer electronic controls, and no built-in shutter also available. So, X1D users must use electronic shutter with XPan adapter and lenses.

Canon 6K Cinema Camera Coming in 2018

According to latest rumors Canon will announce a 6K Cinema camera in 2018. The name of the camera is is expected to be Cinema EOS C900 and likely to arrive during NAB show on April or just after that. As usual the camera will carry a dedicated 6K FF sensor and Triple Digic DV 6 or 7 image processor. The core specification of the camera isn’t know yet but as the rumor mill says, it will compete against the Sony CineAlta VENICE 6K camera.

Nikon Not Attending the CES 2018 Event
