We have just published the news that Panasonic will soon update its major camera firmware to make it compatible with LiDAR (Light Detection and Ranging) autofocusing system.

Pics that show the Panasonic S1H camera working in calibration with the LiDAR autofocusing system + RS Pro 3 gimbal to stabilize the camera. Although We don’t have that much detail on how the autofocus performed during the test, the combination of LiDAR autofocusing system with RS Pro 3 gimbal and Lumix S1H camera isn’t a cheap package.

Instead putting time on Lidar Tech, they should announce S1H Mark II with Hybrid Sensor asap – TNC
At the same time, they say they have already DEVELOPED their hybrid CMOS SENSOR, and we have already seen it in the Panasonic S5 MARK II mirrorless camera. Then, instead of investing time and money in LiDAR autofocusing system, it’s better to announce a new series of updated sensors for all their pro cameras with a hybrid system that they already have.

Recently, the sensor market share data for 2022 has been released, and guess who is first on the list? It’s Sony, with a maximum of 42% of the global sensor market share. In the second position, we don’t have Canon, unfortunately. It’s Samsung with 19%, followed by Omnivision with 11%, STMicroelectronics with 6%, and Canon with only 1%.
So why does this big difference exist between the two? The reason is the ever-growing, booming smartphone industry. Despite being the world’s number one camera brand, Canon has only a 1% share in the sensor market data for the world in 2022. If they want to grow exponentially, they have to enter into the field of smartphones. Otherwise, this could happen: they will shift to the Panny Zone after 2025-26.

According to the latest rumors we have from the rumor mill, Panasonic is about to announce the successor of the Panasonic G9 camera, which was announced back on November 2017, so it’s almost 5+ years finally we are having an update from Panny.
The Panasonic G9 was Panasonic’s flagship Micro Four Thirds camera. At the time of its announcement in 2017, the camera had a maximum burst speed of 20 frames per second with continuous autofocus and a maximum shooting speed of up to 60 frames per second. Additionally, its image stabilization was effective up to 6.5 stops and it also included Dual IS 2.0 technology. The G9 was capable of shooting uncropped 4K video at 60fps and also had an 80-megapixel high-resolution handheld mode. These specs were for the Panasonic G9 flagship Micro Four-Thirds format camera, which was announced back in 2017.
If Panasonic is planning to announce the G9 II in 2023, then you can imagine the set of improvements we will have in the G9 Mark II camera body.
Panasonic representatives have stated several times during interviews that the S5 Mark II camera sensor technology will not be limited to full-frame sensors only; they will also use the same hybrid AF technology for their Micro Four Thirds format cameras.
So, we are expecting a massive upgrade in the autofocus performance of the upcoming Panasonic G9 Mark II camera.
Stay tuned for more to come…

Youngnuo officially announced an 85mm lens for Canon RF Mount. The lens features STM AF motor and the lens also does AF very well. Now we all very well know Canon RF Mount is locked and Canon recently ditched Viltrox 85mm F1.8 AF Lens by sending some goof msgs to the Lens makers.
So, now we can have two types of situations here
Situation #1: Canon and viltrox are now in collaboration with each other, youngnuo paid the license fee. And now more youngnuo lenses for RF Mount are on they way.
Situation #2 : Youngnuo doesn’t care about Canon’s policy.
Youngnuo Smart Move can be followed by the Viltrox, provided nothing happens to it
In both of the situations we have discussed the second one is true, Youngnuo doesn’t care about Canon rules and regulations for RF Mount. At the same time to save themselves legally they are not using a single Canon word in their Lens announcement or packaging
compatible with other than Sony E / Leica L / Nikon Z”. It seems that sales in China have started at 2,599 yuan ($380).
As you can see clearly youngnuo is avoiding Canon’s name, and yes if they are not using it Canon has nothing much to do legally. But, yes they can block Lenses AF/AE operations via firmware updates in the future.
