VXD Linear Motor Autofocus – Tamron’s Voice-coil eXtreme-torque Drive (VXD) motor, specifically developed for mirrorless cameras, is now used in the 18-300mm lens. This motor is very quiet and precise, highly usable for both stills and video.
APS-C Optimised Design – The lens is custom-tailored for APS-C mirrorless cameras and weighs only 620g. It is weather-sealed, so without compromising build quality or construction, this is a highly usable lens for travellers and those who love all-in-one lenses.

Pricing and Availability
The Tamron 18-300mm F/3.5-6.3 Di III-A VC VXD is competitively priced:
Why Photographers Love This Lens
The 18-300mm focal range actually eliminates the need for multiple lenses, so this will become your go-to lens for photography. A traditional advantage of this lens is its approximately 450mm equivalent telephoto reach. At the same time, the lens is weather-sealed, features a 5.9-inch minimum focusing distance, and 1:2 macro capability.
Additionally, the VXD motor is one of the best premium autofocus motors Tamron has developed for their professional series of lenses, and it’s included in this lens. Overall, Tamron has done its best to make a super-perfect all-in-one ultrawide to super telephoto zoom lens.
Who Should Buy the Tamron 18-300mm Lens?
This lens is perfect for:
- Travel Photographers – If you’re a travel photographer who loves having an all-in-one lens and hates switching lenses while on the go, this one is the best for you. It features 16.6x optical zoom with optical image stabilisation, a zoom lock switch, and a weather-sealed body – perfect for travel.
- Amateur Photographers – This lens is highly suitable for amateur photographers. Once they have this lens and feel the need for more depth or bokeh, they can add prime lenses. But this is one of the best all-rounder lenses for everything from landscapes to sunsets, animal close-ups, and even some portraits.
Optical Performance and Real-World Use, and Reviews
The lens delivers impressive image quality with strong center performance and acceptable corner sharpness, according to the latest reviews. It features a custom-developed BBAR-G2 coating that minimizes ghosting and flare, even in backlit conditions, which generally cause issues in high-zoom lenses like this.
Users report clear and vibrant images at wide angles. While the corner sharpness is not as strong as seen in primes or constant-aperture zooms, the lens does deliver excellent bokeh at longer focal lengths. So, it’s ideal for portraits and wildlife photography. Although it’s not a very fast lens due to the limited aperture range, it is highly usable.
FAQ Related to the Tamron 18-300mm Lens
Tamron 18-300mm lens means how much optical zoom?
The Tamron recently announced 18-300mm f/3.5-6.3 Di III-A VC VXD lens features a 16.6x optical zoom ratio. So, whether you’re capturing landscapes or zooming in on close-up subjects, this lens is perfect for you.
What is the macro capability of the Tamron 18-300mm lens?
The Tamron 18-300mm f/3.5-6.3 lens is able to capture images as close as 5.9 inches. The lens has a 1:2 designation for maximum magnification, allowing you to capture almost real-life-sized images. Although it’s not a true macro lens (which would have a 1:1 ratio), at this price, getting 1:2 macro is really amazing with such optical coverage.
Is the Tamron 18-300mm lens made for APS-C or full-frame cameras?
The Tamron 18-300mm f/3.5-6.3 lens is specifically made for APS-C cameras. If you use this lens on a full-frame camera, the full-frame body will work in DX/APS-C crop mode. For example, if you use this lens on the Nikon Z6 II, the output will be only 10 megapixels. Similarly, you’ll get the same 10MP output if the lens is used on Canon R8 or Canon R6 Mark II.
What filter thread size does the Tamron 18-300mm lens use?
Whether you get the Nikon Z version or the Canon RF version, you’ll need a 67mm filter. This size is consistent across both versions.

According to the latest rumors, Olympus, also known as OMDS, is now shaking up the opportunities in the medium format camera market. They are working over the possibility of a new line of medium format cameras from Olympus. How far this rumor is correct, we don’t know, but let’s dive in detail to explore it further.
History Behind the Olympus OM Digital Medium Format Camera
What we know so far about the Olympus medium format digital camera — before we talk about what exactly the source said to the rumor mill — in 2011, Olympus filed a patent for medium format camera that we have covered on our website. The design was quite a bit different from the existing mirrorless bodies of Olympus. It was a box-style design. As you can see in the image below, it is directly coming straight out from the Olympus December 2011 patent, published on our website.

From the patent image, it is quite clear that Olympus at that time was very much interested in the development of their medium format mirrorless line and that was quite evident from the patent that they filed.
Now, back to August 2025 — take a look at what the source of the rumor mill has said
- There are engineering samples testing regarding a new line from OMDS.
- The camera has a large stacked sensor in 4:3 ratio format. It looks like a medium format sensor.
- It looks like OM picked up the unfinished medium format project in 2018, which was finally canceled by Olympus executives.
- The EM1X prototype body was originally designed for medium format.
- My info came from two sources: OMDS and another tech person.
- The new format is an ongoing project which I was told could be part of OM System product.
Why Medium Format Camera?
Medium format camera is always known for their superior image quality over the full frame or the APS-C bodies, and it’s always a first love of pro photographers, seeking the highest possible image quality in their workflow. An Opportunity for OMDS Olympus, Major players in the medium format like Sony, Canon, and Nikon are absent from this competition. Fujifilm, Hasselblad, and Phase One are dominating the market right now. So the competition is not as tough as we have in the APS-C or the full frame camera market segment. But what about the market size? Let’s further analyze.
Medium Format Camera – Market Size and Growth Trends
Why does Olympus suddenly seem interested in the medium format cameras? The medium format is a very niche market, and North America appears to have a very clear dominance over the sales — or you may say the market share — of the medium format camera. If you look at the stats:
Medium Format Market Size and Growth Trends
Recent data indicates the global medium format camera market reached USD 163.3 million in 2024, with projections estimating growth to USD 210.5 million by 2033, at a compound annual growth rate (CAGR) of 2.72% from 2025 to 2033, as per IMARC Group.
M4/3 Camera market is shrinking and has reached to lowest point now
We did research related to the size of M4/3 Mirrorless camera, the stats are very limited to Japan only take a look what our editors were able to find
The Micro Four Thirds (M4/3) camera market is shrinking, particularly in Japan, with a significant drop in market share from 21.7% in 2020 to less than 5% in 2023.
Statistical Data of M4/3 camera market share in Japan
| Year |
Market Share in Japan |
| 2019 |
19.8% |
| 2020 |
21.7% |
| 2023 |
< 5% |
What We Know So Far About the Olympus Medium Format Camera
- Overall the M4/3 format camera market share has reached to lowest point. To evolve and survive company has to explore new sensor bodies and formats to appeal to a larger consumer base.
- Olympus started working on the medium format camera system and development back in 2018.
- They have published a patent related to the medium format camera on 2011 that we have also covered on our website.
- The plan was halted — maybe due to the financial condition of the company or the transition of ownership.
- According to the source, the Olympus OM-1X body was initially designed to house a medium-format camera sensor.
- The source also suggests the project is still in an exploratory phase, so no confirmation over the arrival of a final product hinted by the source at the moment.
We have also analyzed the market space and growth opportunity of medium format mirrorless cameras. Since the competition is less and the growth is very much clearly visible, if Olympus enters into the competition, it will be a great benefit for Olympus.
Medium Format and Olympus OMD Ecosystem
Yes, they have to work on lenses, since they are completely dedicated right now on Micro Four Thirds (M4/3) format-based interchangeable mirrorless cameras and lenses. And it will be a major step for the company itself to support such a plan.
As we have already seen in the statistics, the medium format market is a niche but growing. The brands like Fujifilm are gaining slower attention from the professionals, but the growth is very clearly visible in this various space. If Olympus enters with a proper set of lenses — either of their own or with the help of third-party manufacturers having the compatibility with their system camera — they can create a very good consumer base, since they are already a known and reputable brand from the DSLR to mirrorless.
As smartphone hardware is posing sensor size up to 1 inch, it has become necessary for Micro Four Thirds camera makers to enter into a new zone that should offer a very unique solution to professional photographers or videographers. Fuji already did that – they have entered directly from APS-C to Medium format. Due to the Shrinking M4/3 market, Panasonic is now updating its M4/3 format Lumix series at a much lower frequency and they’re putting all their attention on the recent S1 series with full-frame sensors based cameras.
It’s a very welcome step if Olympus is entering a medium format space that has lower competition and a good growth opportunity.

The Insta360 Antigravity drone is spotted in the wild. The official announcement was already made on July 29, 2025 (read the official press release here), and the final release is expected in late August 2025. Thanks to Quadro News for sharing their pics on X., we now have some high-resolution pics of the same. Let’s explore the Insta360 in a closer view.
The Latest Leak – Testing Out the Insta360 Drone in Wild Scenarios
Just a few hours ago, these images surfaced on the X platform, which include:
Field Test Image – It looks like the tester of the Insta360 drone is wearing VR goggles. He can be seen in a natural setting with green scenery, having a controller in his hand, and even the design of the goggles he is wearing is clearly visible.

In-Vehicle Shot – The Antigravity drone can be clearly seen in the vehicle trunk, sitting alongside multiple accessories. On the drone part, it can be clearly seen that the propellers are black in colour, and big kind of casual guards are protecting the propellers from both sides.

The leaks align with the early prototype images of the drone that we have already covered on our website in our previous post — you can check here. But right now, the design of the drone is very neat and clearly visible. Now, the only thing that excites me is whether this particular drone will fall under the sub-249-gram lightweight category or not, since the shape of the drone looks slightly bulky. Let’s explore more…
What Does This Leak Exactly Tell Us
- 360-Degree Immersive Capture – Since the drone pilot is wearing VR goggles, this suggests the pilot can experience real-time 8K 360-degree footage from the drone, and that’s really exciting. And if this feature is coming inside the Insta360 drone, then for sure it’s kind of a world-first feature to be highlighted for the Insta360 Antigravity.
- Rugged Design – The outdoor use indicates the drone has a rugged build, and it does have LiDAR and advanced obstacle avoidance features.
- Ease of Use – After looking at the DJI-style controller and goggles, it seems that the use of the Insta360 Antigravity drone will be as easy as operating DJI drones.
Image of one more prototype under test – The mini is also expected to arrive alongside with pro
Take a look at the rest of the core specifications that are expected to arrive inside the Insta360 Antigravity drone
- 360-Degree Camera: Yes, it’s almost confirmed that the Pro model with dual fisheye lenses is designed to capture immersive 360-degree footage and will be a flagship model of Insta360 drones. You can easily reframe the shots as per your requirement.
- Innovative Design: The professional model’s arms and motors are strategically placed to remain completely invisible while recording footage.
- Modular: The drone features a modular design, and it is visible from the pictures. The drone has attachable propeller guards and modular components, suggesting its main focus is on easy repairability and portability.
- Weight: The weight of at least one drones is expected to fall under the micro category [Under 250 Grams]. This is a critical factor to avoid strict drone regulations in many countries.
- Additional Features: Insta360 already has a lot of technology ready to be implemented in the drone — this includes AI-powered editing tools, advanced image stabilization, and FlowState technology already used in the X5.

The compact camera demand has been raised significantly, according to the BCN+R report from last year November 2024, they are witnessing a huge surge in compact camera unit sales, that made camera makers like Canon rethink to enter into the traditional compact manufacturing once again.
Kodak PIXPRO FZ55 – The Top Selling Compact Camera of 2025
From February 2025 to June 2025, the Kodak PIXPRO FZ55 remained the top-selling budget compact zoom camera of 2025 if we analyze the BCN+R report. People are highly inclined towards this particular compact zoom camera.
- The total number of unit sales rose by 112.7% compared to June 2024, that’s really unbelievable.
- Another thing is the sales value which surged by 134%, reflecting a very strong demand from budget to premium compact buyers.
But there is bad news for interchangeable lens cameras since the unit sales are down to 80% and the overall sales value is down to 78.1%, so that’s really a big matter of concern — why people are not preferring to have mirrorless cameras nowadays.

Panasonic LUMIX TZ99 (ZS 99) – Just After Kodak PIXPRO FZ55
The Panasonic TZ99 (Known as ZS 99 in USA) covers approximately 11.2% market share of June 2025 and it is also dominating in the entire list alongside the FZ55. The TZ99 is a compact zoom camera that features a 180-degree tilting display screen so you can also create vlogs with the camera. At the very same time, the camera features a 30x extendable zoom lens.
It’s ideal for those who love high-magnification zoom photography. TZ99 is a perfect fit for those who love to have quality content over digital zoom.
Fuji X100VI & X-Half camera also appears in the list sometimes, and that’s one of my favourite compact cameras with high high-quality 23mm F2 lens and the super-resolution 40-megapixel X-Trans 5 sensor — a perfect street photography camera that a photographer can ever have after the Leica Q3, obviously, but that’s not on the list.
Below is the sales volume share data for lens-integrated digital cameras in June 2025, based on BCN+R rankings.

Why Compact Cameras Like Kodak PIXPRO FZ55 and Panasonic LUMIX TZ99 Are Popular?
Let’s discuss the exact reasons behind the popularity of these compact cameras:
- Budget is the most important factor. The affordability of these compact cameras makes them highly popular among its users. Other than that, not only affordability, the features that have been packed inside these small compacts by the manufacturers are the more important ones. No other compact maker is able to give such features in this price point, and that’s why these two models are always on top since November 2024.
- Portability is another most important factor, since most of the buyers love to have a pocket-sized, high-quality compact camera that has an optical capability better than their existing smartphone. And that’s why the demand for the TZ99 camera is high in the market.
- Canon SX740 HS is hard to find – literally, there is no competitor there for the TZ99. Although we have several options for FZ55, but due to the absence of a perfect competitor, TZ99 has become the most popular compact in the pocket zoom series.
- As interchangeable lens cameras are becoming more pricey, people are now preferring to have a compact camera which is cost-effective.
The BCN+R ranking is exactly the source of what people are looking for and interested in buying, and that’s why many of the major camera makers are now putting their attention towards the development and announcement of traditional compact cameras.

Let’s discuss the set of products coming straight from DJI — cameras and drones — we are going to discuss in this article. We have already seen some amazing releases. Let’s start from Matrix 400. It also includes the DJI Flip and Osmo 360. Now we look at 2025 and 2026 rumors — the leaks suggest new exciting drones and cameras that are coming. Let’s explore the list. But before that, an update — the list of products that DJI has already announced, so there should be no confusion.
Recent Releases of DJI Drones and Cameras in 2025
Yes, let’s explore the list of products that have already been announced by DJI — that includes cameras and drones.
DJI Matrice 400: It was launched in June 2025, and it’s a commercial-grade drone, so nothing to get excited about unless you belong to the commercial sector or a farming company. Then, of course, this particular drone will help you. So it is not for general-purpose use.
DJI Flip – The DJI Flip is a kind of beginner-friendly drone announced back in January 2025 with propeller guards and a 3,110 mAh battery that offers 20 minutes of flight time.
DJI Osmo 360 – It has been released recently, and we have already leaked the images and core specifications of the DJI Osmo 360 prior to its announcement. You can see more details about the DJI Osmo 360 here.
DJI Mavic 4 Pro – The DJI Mavic 4 Pro is already announced on May 13, 2025. It’s a pro drone that features a 100MP Hasselblad main camera alongside a triple camera system and 3 lenses. But this drone is hardly available in the US due to regulatory changes.

DJI Upcoming Drones List 2025 – 2026
Okay, these were the products that have already been announced. Now let’s explore the upcoming DJI drones of 2025–2026.
1. DJI Mini 5 Pro: Price and Arrival Date
Now we have the DJI Mini 5 Pro announcement on August 7, 2025, just after the Osmo 360 official announcement. This compact drone is a successor to the ultra-popular Mini 4 Pro. Despite being in the under-249-gram drone category, it will have a massive 25 km transmission range and a large 1-inch sensor for enhanced image quality and video recording. Take a look at more details below about the upcoming DJI Mini 5 Pro drone. August 7, 2025 is said to be the Arrival date of DJI Mini 5 Pro.
DJI Mini 5 Pro Specifications
-
- Launch Date: August 7, 2025
- Camera: Upgraded camera system, potentially with a 1-inch sensor for enhanced image quality
- Obstacle Avoidance: Advanced obstacle avoidance with LiDAR sensors
- Design: New design with larger motors and fixed propellers for reduced noise
- Battery: Larger battery for extended flight time
- Range: Up to 25 km transmission range
- Weight: Under 249 grams, ensuring regulatory compliance
DJI Mini 5 Pro Price
-
- Base model price of $850–$950
- Fly More Combo price of $1,200–$1,300
- additional accessories could reach up to $1,500
The Mini 5 Pro is specifically designed to impress professionals. If you look at the core specifications, it no longer looks like an entry-level drone. The inclusion of LiDAR for obstacle avoidance and a large 1-inch sensor doesn’t make any sense to put it under the entry-level category. The DJI Mini 5 Pro is one of the most exciting drone releases of 2025.
2. DJI Air 4
Expected Release Date: Late 2025
Specification of DJI Air 4 – The DJI Air 4 will feature dual 1-inch sensors, improved flight time, and advanced autonomous features included in this drone.
Impact – As per the initial set of information, this drone is expected to fall somewhere between the Mini and Mavic series. So if it is true, and based on the initial set of specifications we have, it will surely become one of the favorite drones of travel photographers and videographers once it’s announced.
3. DJI Avata 3 Drone Rumored Specifications and Price
The DJI Avata 3 is the next generation of drones coming after the huge success of DJI’s original Avata FPV and FPV 2 (First Person View drone series).

DJI Osmo 360 was announced on July 31, 2025, and believe me, it is one of the best 8K 360 cameras I have ever seen. The reason is DJI Osmo 360 camera uses dual 1-inch square HDR sensors that boost the entire video performance of the camera in terms of dynamic range, low-light performance, color reproduction – everything. The camera records 8K videos up to 50 frames per second and captures still images as high as 120-megapixel resolution.
So, either you are a professional filmmaker or you are a content creator, in this particular guide we will guide you to get the best possible accessories to elevate your content creation or filmmaking to the next level. From lens protectors to selfie sticks, everything is listed here. Let’s explore the list—but even before that, why accessories matter to the DJI Osmo 360, and why you need to buy them—first, understand this:
Why Accessories Matter to the DJI Osmo 360
We all know it’s a powerhouse camera with 8K video capability and dual fixed fisheye lenses for vibrant 8K video—we all know that. But at the very same time, if you are not going to protect those lenses, even a minor scratch will bring some anomaly in the video that you have recorded, and later on, in post, you will have to fix it, and that will be a big mess. So, having proper accessories is highly recommended.
Eventually, we have listed some of the best invisible selfie sticks + powerbank selfie sticks that will hold your camera rock solid and will not be visible in the entire footage + it will increase ur recording time, creating a kind of drone-like footage. And finally, the camera is IP68 waterproof—it can handle 10m of water. At the same time, we are listing here some of the best waterproof cases for long underwater shoots, since even DJI advises against prolonged water submersion.

Rubber Lens Protector – The rubber lens protector is generally what you get in the combo boxes, and it protects the lenses when they are not in use. These are a kind of translucent protector.

DJI Invisible Waterproof Case – That’s highly required when you want to create the invisible effect while shooting 360° underwater videos.
If you are going to compare Insta360 X5 accessories compared to the DJI Osmo 360, then the lens guards that we are talking about are set at $12.99, whereas X5 lens guards cost $29 to $49. So that’s the major difference we have in lens protection. Otherwise, the selfie stick prices are almost the same.
But one noticeable thing is that you can use DJI Osmo Audio, like the DJI Mic, without any receiver since the Osmo 360 has a built-in transmitter ready. So, you don’t need to invest much more in external mics—it’s already made for you. So the audio quality via DJI Mic provides a better option compared to the X5’s built-in mic.

ARRI Alexa 35 XTREME camera has been announced. ARRI is known for making high-end digital cinema cameras, redefining high speeds in cinematography, and the new ALEXA 35 XTREME redefines everything. So, let’s explore the core specifications, price, and major features of the recently announced camera.
ARRI Alexa 35 XTREME Price
The ARRI Alexa 35 XTREME Base Entry Set is priced at $54,590, and even though it is offering a cost-effective entry into the ARRI high-end ecosystem, good news for ARRI Alexa 35 owners — if you want to upgrade your existing setup to the XTREME, then you have to spend approximately $17,300 for that, so your camera will be updated to the 35 XTREME. Now let’s talk about the major core specifications of the camera.
ARRI Alexa 35 XTREME Specifications
The Alexa 35 XTREME uses a Super 35 format sensor. So, for those who are actually mirrorless users, let me help you understand that a Super 35 sensor is actually APS-C size — near about — not a full-frame. Now, jumping to the major core specs of the camera:
- Sensor: The Super 35mm sensor captures 4.6K super videos and delivers up to 17 stops of dynamic range. You can capture 4.6K videos up to 330 frames per second at 11 stops, and in Overdrive mode, the speed scales to 660 fps.
- Recording Formats: 19 ARRI RAW and Apple ProRes formats. The camera records in 422 and high-quality 4444, 4444 XQ, with supporting resolutions up to 4.6K. Also supports MXF/ARRICORE and MXF/Apple ProRes.
- Codec: ARRI CORE RGB codec (beta) that records high-quality videos at lower data rates, compatible with the existing Alexa 35 workflow.
- Pre-Recording Options: The camera records up to 30 seconds of 4.6K Open Gate clips at 24 frames per second in ProRes 4444, or up to 5 minutes in HD.
- ISO Range: EI from 160 to 6400, and in Enhanced Sensitivity Mode you are getting EI 2560 to 6400.
- Storage: Supports Codex Compact Drive (1TB, 2TB) and Codex Compact Drive Express 1TB (ProRes only).
- Lens Mount: LBUS LPL mount with PL-to-LPL adapter for compatibility with a wide range of cine-style lenses.
- Wireless Connectivity: Wi-Fi with 5GHz compatibility, mesh network roaming, and auto-reconnect features.
- Power Consumption: 10% lower than the ALEXA 35, with B-mount battery adapter for 12V/24V accessories.
- Interfaces: Includes 12G SDI outputs, Ethernet, timecode in/out, 12V/24V accessory power, and compatibility with AEM-1 audio module.
- Accessories in Base Entry Set: CCM-1 control monitor, BUD-1 utility dovetail, BPA-6 bridge plate adapter, CCH-4 top handle, UAP-3 plate, B-mount battery adapter.
ARRI Alexa 35 XTREME High-Speed Performance – Features Explained
The camera is able to record 4.6K videos up to 660 frames per second in Overdrive mode, which is literally impossible for pro cinema cameras out there, and at the very same time, it eliminates the need for having dedicated higher frame rate cameras like Phantom Flex. At 330 frames per second, it maintains up to 17 stops of dynamic range, so you will get an exceptional amount of details while shooting even at 330 fps.
With the XTREME 35 edition, ARRI also announced the ARRI CORE codec (beta version). While using this particular codec, it significantly reduces the data rates compared to the traditional codecs that we use, and at the very same time, it doesn’t affect the quality or the flexibility in post-production — by maintaining all its compatibility with the Alexa 35 workflow. That also includes ARRI Textures, metadata, and MXF wrappers. Even though it supports most of the third-party tools, the integration is completely seamless.
The breakthrough technology that arrives with the XTREME version is the pre-recording — 4.6K in ProRes 4444, HD videos up to 5 minutes in ProRes high quality. Now, the thing that I like about the wireless connectivity in this particular edition is the auto-reconnect functionality. If the camera gets disconnected from the network, it automatically tries to reconnect with the network every single minute.
ARRI RAW is Not Free — Neither is Open Gate / Anamorphic or Even Pre-Record
Yes, you heard it right — the Base Entry Set comes with a Base License, and in the Base License, you are only getting ProRes recording up to 60 frames per second in 4K 16:9 format. Now, if you want to record ARRI RAW 120 fps @ 4.6K, or even if you want to record Open Gate / Pre-Record functionality — all these things require subscription. The plans start from 7 days to 30 days, or even they have annual plans and some permanent licenses are also available. But you have to pay extra.
What we have in this particular edition is that it is not very much cost-effective — even if you have invested $54,000 in a camera body, you still have to invest in software subscription to use all the set of features of the camera. And that’s really not a good thing.
Alexa 35 XTREME is a Powerhouse Addition – Without a doubt, it has loads of features that a professional cinematographer may even think to have in their camera. But it comes at a price tag of $54,590 — and it is being called the Base Entry Level model. After that, you have many customizations available here at B&H Store and ARRI Store. You can explore them at different price sets. But as we have discussed, to experience the full core specifications of the camera, you have to subscribe to each and every set of features you require — and that’s going to cost you again, much and much more.
I hope this kind of subscription idea should not reach Canon, Nikon, and Sony in either way — otherwise, using a mirrorless camera will become a nightmare.
