DJI Neo 2: 2025 Latest Updates, Battery Improvements, and What the FCC Filings Reveal

main post image

The DJI Neo 2 is now becoming the next sensation, following the DJI Mini 5 Pro, as it is a beginner-friendly drone, and we have details of the FCC filing, specs and much more. The DJI Neo 2 drone is coming with extended battery life, improved camera performance and improved tracking. The best part is the announcement is not too far and we are so excited to uncover all the latest details related to the DJI Neo 2  drone here at thenewcamera.com

Anticipated Upgrades: Focusing on Battery and Performance

One of the standout rumoured improvements is the battery capacity, jumping from 1435 mAh in the original to 1606 mAh—a roughly 12% increase. By introducing a bigger capacity battery, which is now confirmed via FCCID listing,..

Improved Camera Sensor Size and 4K 60 FPS Recording Option

The camera will have the same sensor, but it will be an updated one. As per the latest set of rumours we have, it will be a 1/1.2-inch CMOS sensor. With the help of the new sensor, the Neo 2 will now record 4K 60 FPS video , so users will have more latitude in their video file for colour grading purposes, more vibrant footage, ideal for low-light scenarios. Features like RockSteady stabilisation, Horizon Balancing, AI subject tracking (potentially ActiveTrack 6.0), six QuickShot options, and basic obstacle avoidance with front/back/bottom sensors.

The Neo 2 will have the O4 technology, offering a range of up to 10 km, which is obviously FCC compliant, and it will have 22GB of onboard internal storage. No need for a separate SD card initially, as it will be compatible with DJI Fly, and obviously, voice commands and gesture moves. The RC motion controller will add more versatility to the drone.

Vlog with Clear Audio

The new DJI Neo drone will have the DJI Mic 3 compatibility onboard, and it will sync easily with multiple transmitters/microphones. The new DJI Neo 2 drone will have the DJI Mic 3 compatibility onboard, and it will sync easily with multiple transmitters/microphones. With ActiveTrack 6.0, it will be very easy to vlog with the drone while having clear audio onboard. It will just look like a professional cinematographer is shooting your entire experience.

DJI Neo 2 Price: Standard Kit Price and Budget-Friendly Options & Bundles

Based on recent leaks and the DJI Neo pricing strategy:

These estimates factor in inflation and upgrades from the original Neo (which started at $199).

Bundle Estimated Price (USD) Includes
Fly Solo $259 Drone + 1 battery
FPV Starter $429 Drone + Motion 3 controller + goggles adapter + 3 batteries
Fly More Kit $599 All above + case, hub, extra props

The original Neo price, when announced, started at $199. Regional price variations may occur due to tariffs, taxes, customs charges, or the country you are living in. So, the price variation depends on several factors.

DJI Neo 2 Specification: Full Leaked Specification Table

The DJI Neo 2 specifications promise a major update in camera quality as well as battery life of the drone. Yes, it will remain under the 250-gram category, so there’s no need for any sort of extra permission while flying the Neo 2. Take a look at the detailed specifications of the upcoming DJI Neo 2 drone, along with a comparison against the original DJI Neo.

Below is a comprehensive specs table based on the latest rumours:

FCC Embargo Deadline January 15, 2026. So, the announcement of the Neo 2 is subject to happen before Jan 15, 2026.

Drone Model FCC ID Registration/Grant Date (Approximate) Announcement Date FCC Embargo
DJI Neo 2 SS3-DEN225 July 25, 2025 (greenlight/surfaced) November, 2025 (est.) Jan 15, 2026

US Ban Risk and Availability Issues

This drone is free from any sort of US ban in the ultra-low light category, but some issues exist between the US and the DJI makers. Due to this uncertainty, US Customs largely detains most of the DJI products. US Customs has detained DJI products under the Uyghur Forced Labour Prevention Act (UFLPA), citing unproven links to forced labour—claims DJI refutes, emphasising production in Shenzhen and Malaysia. This has impacted models like the DJI Mini 5 Pro and Mavic 4 Pro and could delay the DJI Neo 2 in the US. Political pressures, including proposed FCC bans, add uncertainty for 2026.

Stay tuned, we will soon post more updates.

DJI Osmo Nano: 4K 60FPS Mode Vanishes After Update – Rollback Possible, But Will DJI Bring It Back?

Main post image

DJI Osmo Nano has become very popular after its release, and a lot of people are buying this ultralight 52-gram POV camera. This wearable camera is one of the best for cyclists, runners, and adventure seekers, as well as daily life content creators, to record their activities. But just after its purchase, many people have noticed that the camera comes with 4K 60FPS mode. But, with the recent firmware update, it quietly axed the 4K 60FPS option in 4:3 mode, which has made a lot of users frustrated and scrambling for solutions. If you are one of its early users, then you have noticed that option, so let’s take a look in detail at what went wrong, to determine if it is possible to restore the previous update.

The Osmo Nano: A Tiny Titan With Big Promises

DJI Osmo Nano is one of the smallest DJI action cameras yet, specifically designed for hands-free capture. The camera measures only about 57mm × 29mm × 28mm, making it very small and easy to carry without adding significant weight. One of the most compact and advanced POV cameras DJI has ever made.

The twist and turn head starts when the official specs list 4K (4:3) at up to 50FPS, with options like 3840 × 2880 at 24/25/30/48/50FPS. But, out of the box, the camera was able to deliver 60FPS mode in 4:3 – a welcome surprise for smoother playback on 60Hz+ screens. “After powering the camera on for the 1st time, I was surprised to see that 60FPS was available,” shared one Reddit user in a post that’s quickly gaining traction. Excitement was short-lived, though. Post-firmware update, the option vanished, forcing creators into 50FPS or dropping to 2.7K 60FPS, which comes with lower bitrates and compromised image quality. As the user lamented, “Frame pacing at 50FPS does not look good when watched on 60/120/240Hz displays.”

This isn’t just a minor glitch; it’s a downgrade that hits right where it hurts – fluidity and professional-grade output. Why would DJI tease users with a feature only to yank it away?

OSMO nano

Echoes of the Osmo Action 5 Pro: Chipset Woes and Launch Hiccups

Digging deeper, it reminds me of the DJI Osmo Action 5 Pro, which was released with a Qualcomm chipset on a 4nm process with the new processor. DJI also introduced new algorithms for better efficiency and heat management. After the announcement, the DJI Action 5 Pro faced backlash over reduced bitrates compared to its predecessor. To prevent overheating at higher frame rates, the new algorithms worked on lower bitrates. This resulted in artifacts in high-contrast scenes. Finally, the users stepped in and demanded fixes via online forums and social media channels like X (formerly known as Twitter), and the good thing is, DJI listened – rolling out a firmware update that introduced a high-bitrate mode, and guess what, that only resulted in the cost of some battery life.

Similarly, as per recent speculations, a similar style of hardware is being used inside Osmo Nano, although DJI hasn’t confirmed the chipset. They are probably capping features to prevent overheating or instability of the newly announced Nano. The 60FPS removal could be a precautionary measure to address early bugs, very similar to the bitrate cap on the Action 5 Pro.

What This Means for Osmo Nano Owners – And the Future of DJI Updates

This firmware fiasco, the loss of 4K 60FPS in 4:3, is a blow, but there is some hope also. If users complain about the loss of mode and make others aware of the issue, it creates a set of possibilities that, in the next update, they may roll back the feature again for users.

But, if you are someone who is facing the same issue, you should join the Reddit forum and express your concern there – collective pressure has worked before.

Stay tuned to TheNewCamera.com for the latest updates.

DJI Mini 4K Drone Plunges to Historic Low of $249 Ahead of Amazon's October Big Deal Days

Main post image of DJI Mini 4K Drone Plunges to Historic Low of $249 Ahead of Amazon's October Big Deal Days

As we are approaching the holiday shopping season, it’s a kind of golden opportunity to snag one of the best and most popular drones in the market, available at $249, and it is truly under 249 g in weight. Amazon has dropped its price to $249, and wait, not only that, if you grab the Amazon card offer, then you will get an additional discount on it. Now, Amazon Prime Big Deal Days are just around the corner, starting from October 7. The amount of sales is going on, and obviously, if you want to opt for the best possible offer, we have the details.

Why This Deal Stands Out

With potential regulatory changes looming over drones from Chinese manufacturers like DJI, due to many restrictions as of now, they are not able to introduce the newly announced drone Mini 5 in the US market, facing a lot of struggles to do so. Restocking of drones is closing, so B&H Store and Adorama are now completely out of stock, so it’s time to act and make a quick decision. If Amazon.com goes out of stock, then after that it will be really hard thing to find Mini 4K in the US.

How to Get the DJI Mini 4K for $249

The DJI Mini 4K is now at its lowest price for Prime members, at $249. You can get this drone as of September 25, 2025. We have two options, so let’s explore them one by one:

Option 1 – Amazon Prime Member Discount

  • How to Get It – You have to visit Amazon.com and then confirm your Prime membership. Once the Prime membership is confirmed, you will get your drone at $249. The drone is sold by MUQQ USA — it’s an authorised drone seller and has 100% positive feedback from the past 12 months and 24 ratings from customers, so you don’t have to worry about that.
  • Price: $249 (down from $299).
  • Eligibility: Exclusive to Amazon Prime members ($139/year or $14.99/month; 30-day free trial available).
  • Special Note – If the Prime offer is not available when you are reading this particular article, then we do have a second option to get the discount via Amazon.com, through the Visa offer, which is described below.

Option 2 – Amazon Visa $50 Instant Discount

  • Price: $249 after an instant $50 discount upon approval for the Amazon Visa card. So, the overall cost of the Mini 4k drone goes down to $169, till the offer period lasts or stock remains.
  • Eligibility: Open to all customers (Prime membership not required for the discount, but recommended for additional rewards).
  • How to Get It:
    • Apply for the no-annual-fee Amazon Visa during checkout (approval takes ~15 seconds).
    • Upon approval, the $50 discount is automatically applied, reducing the price from $249 to $169.
    • Purchase from MQQ on Amazon. MUQQ is an officially authorised dealer of professional drone brands.

Bonus Perk: New cardholders may receive a $50–$150 Amazon Gift Card upon approval, depending on the current offer, usable for future purchases.
Important: The Amazon Visa has a variable APR of 19.49%–28.24%, so pay off the balance to avoid interest. A hard credit inquiry may slightly impact your credit score.

Key Features of the DJI Mini 4K

What makes the Mini 4K a standout choice for hobbyists and casual creators? Here’s a breakdown:

  • Ultra-Lightweight Build: One of the best beginner drones in 2025, it weighs less than 249 grams, so no need to register your drone for FAA registration; you can use it without any worry.
  • High-Resolution Imaging: The budget drone captures high-quality 4K UHD video at 30 frames per second. The 1/2.3-inch sensor does a perfect job of capturing details, even in low-light scenarios.
  • Stable Footage: Even at this price, we are getting a 3-axis gimbal that provides super smooth stabilisation, even in windy conditions. The drone captures pro-looking videos.
  • Impressive Battery Life: In a single charge, you get approximately 31 minutes of flight time (though real-world tests often clock in around 25–28 minutes depending on usage).
  • Long-Range Connectivity: With a massive 10km (about 6.2 miles) transmission range and full HD live feed via DJI’s O2 system, you can explore a very wide aerial range without losing signal.
  • User-Friendly Design: Compact and foldable, no registration issues, and it’s perfect for travel or quick setups, with intelligent flight modes that simplify operation for beginners.

All these specifications match well at the price point we are getting in, hope while reading the article you should get the best deal possible.

Comparisons to Other DJI Models

If the Mini 4K doesn’t quite fit your needs, consider these alternatives within the DJI lineup:

Model Price (Current) Key Differences Best For
DJI Mini 3 Starting at $349 (yes, available at a higher price) Adds HDR video and vertical shooting; longer battery life. That’s the advantage we are getting. Users wanting enhanced video quality without breaking the bank.
DJI Mini 4 Pro Around $759 Omnidirectional obstacle avoidance, advanced tracking features. Pros or those needing safety tech in complex environments.
Autel Evo Nano Higher price point Similar lightweight design but from a US-based competitor, but isn’t widely available. Those avoiding potential DJI restrictions.

Overall, if you see the comparison table, the best drone as per features and price is the DJI Mini 4K. The Mini 4K drone is giving us a 4K option, offering about one-third the cost of the Pro model while still delivering core functionalities.

With Amazon’s Prime Big Deal Days just around the corner on October 7–8, 2025, this $249 DJI Mini 4K deal + Amazon Card advantage lowers the price of the drone to a record low. Act fast since deals like this don’t hover around forever.

DJI Mini 5 Pro Teardown: The 2g Overweight Issue That's Killing Sub-250g Dreams

main post image

The DJI Mini 5 Pro was announced just 2 days ago, on September 17, 2025. It is an ultralight category drone with a C0 marking and features a large 1-inch sensor, LiDAR for enhanced obstacle avoidance. So apart from all these great features, we also have extended recording time, as with the Plus battery, you can push the flight up to 52 minutes. Now, as we are already getting the set of pro features with the drone and all under 250 grams, that was the most impressive marketing thing done by DJI itself and without doub,t most of the reviewers, those who used the drone specifically from TechRadar and Digital Camera World, are really very much impressed with the video quality and performance of the drone. All these are available at the starting price of $749 USD.

Problem starts when people started buying it from the retail stores and on the weighing scale the drone was showing 1 to sometimes 2 grams extra, and for that reason when we received a lot of complaints from the subscribers/users of the drone then we created the post dedicated for the weight issue that may create a problem for a general user if he is flying the drone in the restricted area or without license. So if you want to explore what could happen if you fly a slightly overweight drone like the Mini 5 Pro, you can explore our latest article

the main issue

The 2g of Overweight is due to

The real culprit behind this increased weight issue is the oversized speaker module used by DJI in the drone. During the teardown of the drone, it has been revealed by a user that the DJI Mini 5 Pro’s weight issues are actually being generated due to the heavy speaker module used inside the drone. Let’s look at the teardown of the drone to understand it in a better way.

Weight-Saving Heroics: DJI Pulled Off

DJI did perfect homework in saving the weight of the drone. During the teardown, a lot of things have been reviewed. First, we will talk about how DJI, after a lot of weeks, put their effort into making this drone lightweight:

  • Ultra-Light Heatsink and Thermal Management: This time, they are using a graphite sink unit. Earlier in the Mini 4 Pro, they used an aluminium heatsink unit. ~1.5g more saved by adopting the new heatsink unit.
  • Flexible GPS Antenna and PCB Tweaks: They have also updated the antenna designs. Now, these times they are bendable, foil-printed GPS modules that actually replace rigid boards, saving 0.8g and improving signal in urban canyons.
  • Screw and Shielding Hacks: We now have tiny titanium-coated aluminium screws, so no more steel screwsare being used in the drone. That also saves a lot of weight (down from steel) and copper foil tape instead of full metal EMI shielding—another 1g trimmed.
  • Battery Consistency: The standard battery weight remains the same, which is 77.5g, so again it is not a variation or overweight standard battery issue. Even the Plus battery (pushing total AUW to 290g+) is optimised, but that’s a separate story for extended flights.

So, as you can see, DJI has made an enormous effort from their side to keep the drone under 250 grams in weight, and they have also received the CO certification of Europe, which satisfies that this drone is under 250 grams, but in reality, everyone, when testing on their weighing scal,e finds out the drone weighs a bit more.

weight image

The Actual Cause: Oversized speaker assembly

The big elephant in the room is actually the oversized speaker assembly. Now it may be sourced straight out from the remaining parts (likely a Neo or Flip leftover).. It’s a full module with plastic housing and mounting screws weighing more than 2.1 grams.

  • Why is the speaker there? The heavy speaker has been used in the DJI Mini 5 Pro drone just to create some jingles, so it has no actual use, but it enhances the user experience with its alert noise. They can easily reduce the size of the next generation of mini 5 Drones by using lightweight speakers from the previous generation of drones.

So in this drone, the DJI Mini 5 Pro, everything is super perfect and very much impressive for a 250 gram drone, but unfortunately, the size/weight of the drone grows, specifically due to the large speaker module in the camera. So let’s see what happens next in the next lot—will DJI learn from its past mistakes and implement in the future tablets and pieces? Only time can tell.

DJI Osmo Pocket 4 Prototype Image Leaked with Dual-Camera Setup

2. DJI Pocket 4: New Leaked Images, Price and Specifications Updates

Now we have two different sets of images of the Pocket 4 gimbal. The first one, where you see the screen, is coming out of China, where you can clearly read Pocket 4 branding but no camera was visible; the image was shared via Weibo.

Pocket 4 image leaked

On the latest leaked image (below) of the Pocket 4 camera, better to say early prototype, we can clearly see a dual-lens setup-based camera. Both of the camera modules look completely different in size. The left one is noticeably tinier, akin to auxiliary sensors we generally see in smartphones or DJI drone multi-camera module units, for specialised functions. This asymmetry suggests not a symmetrical stereo pair but a main–auxiliary duo.

Both the camera image

The main housing around the cameras of the new prototype seems to be compact, potentially even slimmer than the Pocket 3’s module when compared. That means DJI has managed to have a dual setup without excessive bulk. At the very same time, the device shown in the image looks fully functional—no extra wires or tapes seen on the body—which clearly indicates it’s a fully developed product or final prototype.

That’s why we have said: Will DJI risk their video quality performance/compromise in image quality by downsizing or replacing the larger sensor?

Pocket 4 back

Now, not only these two, we have one more prototype image being published by Focused Media, which features a DJI prototype with a flat-style front camera that resembles the dual-camera setup, accompanied by a back display screen. So that’s quite unusual since till now you did not have any extra back screen on the Pocket series.

It’s really too hard to discuss the Pocket 4 specifications when you have multiple different types of prototypes floating in the market. In general, DJI tests several prototypes of the product before its official announcement. The source who shared early specs of the Pocket 4 camera also shared his thoughts that DJI is willing to expand the Pocket series, but this will not happen soon.

Our trusted source shared the DJI Pocket 4 specification, and we do believe him, since he recently shared embargo-related details of the Mini 4 drone.

DJI will use a large 1-inch sensor in its upcoming Action 6 compact camera. The recent FCC leak reveals a larger camera housing—likely a move to accommodate a larger 1-inch sensor inside. DJI has been incorporating larger sensors into its products to enhance overall quality, including low-light performance, dynamic range, and colour reproduction.

When the DJI Action 6 is coming: On or before October 2025, the announcement of Action 6 is expected.

4. DJI Neo 2: Beginner-Friendly Drone Eyed for Late 2025 Debut

The good thing about the DJI Neo 2 drone is that it is already registered with the FCC ID. FCC ID is actually a milestone for every product—once it’s registered, he Drone maker is bound to be announced within a specific time period. Now, since we already have a lot of information related to the DJI Neo 2. Recent information from tipsters reveals an announcement in November 2025. Another set of information suggests that DJI is bound to announce the Neo 2 drone before January 15, 2026, since after that, the embargoes and FCC ID deadline will get over. And then there is no point in announcing Neo 2 officially after that. So the exact time frame of arrival of the DJI Neo 2 drone is from November 5th to January 15th. Stay tuned for now—if we get any further updates related to the upcoming DJI Neo 2 we will post them on our website, TheNewCamera.com.

5. DJI Avata 3: FPV Powerhouse Slated for Q4 2025 with Pro Upgrades

Several test images of the DJI Avata 3 have been leaked—or it’s better to say these drones that look very similar to the DJI Avata 3 images have recently leaked and were published on our website. The big confusion for us right now is that the DJI Avata 3 style drone is showing an extra camera on the top, so maybe this is a kind of different prototype, or maybe an Avata 360 version. But that’s really a very exciting moment for us.

The DJI Avata 3 leaks are not new. The first image of the DJI Avata 3 drone surfaced on May 24, 2025, and here it is.

One thing is for sure: this time, the camera gimbal is excessively large, maybe due to the presence of a large 1-inch CMOS sensor inside it.

DJI 360

6. DJI 360 Drone: Emerging Rumors of a Panoramic FPV Hybrid by Late 2025

Just after the announcement of the Insta360 Antigravity A1 drone—although not available to the public right now, and sales will officially start in January 2026—a competitor will emerge from DJI. From the recent leaks, we have seen an Avata-style drone with a large gimbal-style structure in the front with multi-dimensional cameras. So there is a huge possibility that in the first part of 2026, or maybe as early as December 2025, we will see a DJI 360 drone.

Recently, as per an article published in a Chinese local magazine sourced from Weibo, the drone will use the same Osmo 360 1-inch sensor-based 360-degree cameras for high-quality video recording.

DJI 360 Drone Rumored Specifications

  • 8K/50fps panoramic video for ultra-high-resolution immersive footage.
  • 120MP panoramic photos with 10-bit D-Log M colour grading for professional post-production.
  • Flight Time: 25–32 minutes
  • Features: Omnidirectional sensing, AI stitching, immersive FPV modes
  • Weight: ~200g with guards
  • Transmission: O4 low-latency

These are the latest updates we have regarding the upcoming DJI products, which include drones and action cameras. At the same time, the ban risk is also present, and we have addressed it in this article. So if you are planning to buy a drone, better get yourself one before December 2025. Right now we have very good offers on the DJI Mini 4, as well as the DJI Avata 2, which is also available at its lowest price.

So that’s all for now. Let me know for which camera or specific drone you are waiting, and also share your thoughts—do DJI products deserve a ban, or should we have the freedom to use the best available in the drone industry?

Would you like me to also standardise product naming (like always writing DJI Avata 3 instead of sometimes DJ I Avata 3) so it’s fully consistent across the whole article?

DJI Mini 5 Pro announcement teaser by Brazilian reseller

DJI teaser image

Too good to be true, the main excitement reached its peak when I saw the teaser sent by one of my subscribers. To be very clear, it’s a reseller of DJI products in Brazil and not an authorized dealer, so it is not a directly DJI-owned store, but it is backed by Multilseller status, and it also distributes DJI drones in the region. Located at Av. Brigadeiro Faria Lima, No. 1811, 15th floor, Zip Code 01452-001, São Paulo – SP (CNPJ 59.717.553/0001-02, Registration 112.159.766.117). Now, if you can see the Instagram post, he has clearly posted the teaser that got me super excited. It starts with “He Has Arrived” and in the next line you can read “the most anticipated DJI drone in recent years,” which is obviously true, and it is described as the new generation of technology. If you go through the teaser, it says “availability only on September 17th,” so they are urging you to take advantage of this particular special launch at the DJI Brazil Store.

DJI Mini 5 Pro Drone Image official

Okay, this is just an addition to the recent developments and a lot of leaks—just part of those leaks suggesting a mid-September rollout. Although the dates are a bit varying since we have the embargo being lifted on the DJI Mini 5 Pro on September 18, we got many screenshots related to that. So, if we consider all these factors, one thing is sure without a doubt. We can expect the official announcement of the DJI Mini 5 Pro drone between September 16 and 18—it can happen anytime in between. Since on September 18 the embargo will finally lift, and all those who are testing the DJI Mini 5 drone are going to publish their reviews and videos live on YouTube and on their websites. So prior to that, DJI has to make an official announcement.

Breaking Down the Teaser: What It Reveals

The Instagram post coming straight from the Loja DJI reseller features a really great, dramatic black background, and obviously, a drone is being hidden under the cloth to create suspense and build anticipation. Now let’s talk about the key highlights:

  • Launch Date: The date has been clearly mentioned: “Only on September 17th.” This may also suggest it could be the date for regional availability, pre-orders, or a full reveal.
  • Pricing Hint: “It arrives with a similar price to its previous version.” This clearly states that the drone will cost the same as its predecessor.
  • Special Conditions: The shop is encouraging potential buyers to have early access / register themselves for exclusive deals, bundles, or priority shipping—common for regional launches.
  • Hype Language: Described as a “new generation in technology,” which obviously echoes leaks already known to us, like the new 1-inch sensor and LiDAR, positioning it as a significant upgrade.

While the teaser doesn’t name the “DJI Mini 5 Pro” outright, the context of ongoing leaks and the reseller’s focus on DJI drones make it a clear reference to this model.

DJI mini 5 Pro Release Date

Context from Recent Leaks: Building Toward the Announcement

The Loja DJI teaser doesn’t emerge in isolation; it’s part of a broader wave of leaks that have ramped up in early September 2025. Trusted sources, such as DroneXL / Jasper Ellens, are already discussing a mid-September announcement of the drone and the embargo ending on September 18, 2025. As we have reported, blind pre-orders are already underway in regions like Australia and China.
