Canon next firmware update is scheduled to arrive next month during NAB event. Now as the information we are getting from past few day’s it’s look the update will bring major improvement to Canon 5D Mark IV camera video section.
Firmware update will bring C-Log
We have told your earlier that Canon will bring c-log support to Canon5D Mark IV camera via firmware update that is expected to be announced next month during NAB event. A bunch of new features also coming just take a look below.
Firmware update and list of improvements coming
Now just prior to the announcement of Canon 5D Mark IV firmware update we now have all the details improvement that is expected to arrive with the Canon 5D Mark IV camera.
- All video output will still be 8-bit.
- Sampling for DCI 4K will be increased to a 5632 x 2970 pixel sensor area resulting in a 1.27x Crop factor.
- Sampling for UHD will be from a 5472 x 3078 pixel sensor area resulting in a 1.29x Crop factor.
- Both modes are accurately down-sampled to their final resolutions.
- Existing frame rates will remain the same.
- The current 1:1 4K sampling mode will remain an option for situations benefiting from the 1.78x Crop factor.
- There will also be new full-sensor 3K modes added including 60fps and HDR 24fps.Both will use a line-alternating sampling method, so quality will be inferior to the improved 4K format (but better than the existing FullHD 1080p format.) It is unclear whether the file resolution in the final firmware will be the full 3360 x 1890 format or down-sampled to 3072 x 1728.
- FullHD 1080p will also use this 3K full-sensor mode with down-sampling for a noticeable improvement in perceived resolution.
- FullHD 1080p will also receive a modest frame rate boost to 72/75fps.
- The EOS 5D Mark IV will gain the XF-AVC file format at 120Mbps (4:2:0) and 200Mbps (4:2:2). Both formats should require low enough data rates to accommodate UHS-I U3 type SD Cards.
- Reports relating to a possible service job for the 5D Mark IV are the result of the heat sinks on current units not performing well in some environments when used with the newer firmware. This is because of the increased processing load from the enlarged video sampling area. Newer units will ship with an improved heat sink while existing 5D Mark IV units can be retrofitted. Pricing is unconfirmed for that servicing.
- The newer firmware will still work in non-serviced cameras, but this may result in premature temperature warnings.

As you can see that Canon fullframe camera is due for announcement, the next camera is expected to be the successor of the canon 100D camera. The APS-C lens announcement on horizon is EF-S 35mm F2.8 lens. Canon SX730HS camera is also coming. Nikon have one fullframe DSLR in pipeline, rest of two are compact camera. Sony also have 1 Fullframer camera in its list. No info about Olympus available.

According to latest rumors, Sony will going to announce a new product in the month of April 2017. Take a look of the possible products that may be announced during April 2017 according to SAR
90% chance: New camcorders will be announced at NAB (April 23)
80% chance: new 16-35mm f/2.8 GM
70% chance: New E-mount FF camera trimmed for speed (Low Megapixel number, fastest autofocus of all Sony cameras, around 20fps, dual SD card, joystick control, unlimited RAW recording).
70% chance: New tele E-mount lens (probably 100-400mm FE or/and a 400mm FE)
Basically the list do have all the possible products name that may arrive this year. But unfortunately, we aren’t getting any concrete information related to the product announcement.
What Actually Coming ?
It all started when Japanese website Nokoshita Claims that Sony registered our new product on Chinese and MIT agency for bluetooth and WiFi certification on February 15 2017. And the same website also claimed that Sony will going to announce the registered camera after 2 months from its date of registration, that is from February Sony will going to take roughly 2 months to announce the registered product.
Sony A7 Series Product Codes – WW 32xxxx
After looking at the product code name carefully, we have found that the registered product code name patterns matches to the Sony A7 series cameras and hence, It increases the possibility that Sony will going to announce a new A7 series mirrorless camera in near future.

Before the announcement of Canon 5D Mark IV camera we were the only website who told you that few prototypes of Canon 5D Mark IV do have a Canon Log and Wide DR gamut. The Log records an image / video with subdued contrast and sharpness, the camera with log gamma supports preserves a high dynamic range and presupposes color grading in post-production.
After the announcement of the camera there was no C-log support and we thought that the anonymous tipster information was wrong. But, according to the leaked information Canon will soon enable C-log via firmware update scheduled to arrive at NAB 2017.

But one of the biggest advantage of the Naka optics is the act as speed booster and it will increases the Maximum aperture upto 1 stop.

According to latest rumors surface over the web Canon 5DS Mark II is expected to be announced on Q2 of 2018 and that news also confirms us that there will be no 5DSR announcement in 2017.
Canon may be waiting to see the products of other camera makers. Sony is also rumored to announce Sony A9 mirrorless camera this year and Nikon is also expected to introduce Nikon D 810 successor at the end of 2017.
In this article published few days ago have said, although the Canon 5DSR update is due but we are expecting Canon 6D Mark II and Canon SL2 announcement first.
