Canon C500 – The Canon cinema camera has a usable firmware update this time – Take a look at the list of improvements, if ur an owner and feel it’s important to have it, then only apply the updates
- Enables the digital tele-converter icon display on [Main Recording Displays] of [DISP Level 2].
- It adds the ability to apply a full-screen display to an external display according to the OSD output setting when using [Peripheral Border Display].
- Adds the [Motion Vector For Digital IS] menu option. Default [Disable]*.
*[Disable]: Prevents a phenomenon that may cause the image to shake along with the subject when recording a subject (such as a person or an animal) with a large amount of movement.
- Fixes minor issues.
- Fixes an issue in which aspect markers and other markers are not displayed correctly if the resolution of the video output configuration is set to [4192ｘ3140 (4:3)] or [3768ｘ3140 (6:5)] and the anamorphic desqueeze is applied.

Nikon finally announced a major firmware update for the Nikon Zf camera to upscale its overall performance. The New 2.0 firmware adds a dedicated bird mode to the camera’s subject recognition autofocus, support for connecting to the company’s Imaging Cloud service, and other improvements that will make shooting video and using older, manual-focus lenses more convenient. According to Nikon, the new BIRD EYE AF mode will help users track birds more effectively. So, if you’re a Birdographer, stop putting your camera in AUTO animal mode now and use a dedicated bird-eye AF mode.
Now we are waiting for the Nikon Z6 III update related to bird eye AF.

Nikon registered a new trademark, Nikon Z Cinema, on February 13, 2025. It will be very interesting to see whether Nikon is expanding its Z Cinema lineup to RED camera bodies only or if they will also bring dedicated cinema bodies to mirrorless consumers. just like Canon did with Canon R50V.

One of the best budget cameras to record 6K open-gate recording, earlier or when it was announced, there was a 4K 15-minute recording limit in the camera, and for which it was criticized at the time of announcement. But Panasonic listened to us, and on October 9, 2024, they released their first firmware update, version 1.1, and they removed the recording limit. Now, it does not have any recording limit in 4K 30fps mode or even in open-gate recording as long as your memory card isn’t full or the camera doesn’t face any kind of overheating issues.
But again, practically, the overheating performance of this camera is very good, and users are quite happy with the usage of this camera. Just keep in mind the camera is using the first generation of hybrid autofocus similar to what was used with the Panasonic S5, S5II, and S5IIX, so autofocus tracking is not on par with Canon and Sony cameras.
In the latest firmware update, version 1.3, they have again tried to optimize the overall operational speed of the camera. Additionally, they fixed a problem where when connecting to a Wi-Fi network, the password was always required. Now, it has become a one-time entry, so overall connectivity performance has been improved along with the operational speed of the camera.

- Feature changes due to security enhancements
– When directly connecting the camera and smartphone via Wi-Fi, the connection has been changed to always require password authentication. (The [Wi-Fi Password] menu has been removed.)
– The [TKIP] encryption method is no longer supported when connecting to Wi-Fi via an access point.
– The [No Encryption] option in network authentication is no longer supported when connecting to Wi-Fi via an access point.
– The image transfer feature to PC via Wi-Fi has been removed. (Only European/Ukrainian models)
- Other improvements
– The startup speed when powering on has been improved.
– The operational stability has been improved.
