Nikon Z6 Mark III or Nikon Z50 II | Nikon Announcement Soon

Is Nikon hiding something from us? Last year, it was the same situation when not just one, but multiple Nikon websites worldwide were hiding a product from the search listings. After a month, the Nikon Z8 was announced.

Now, it has started with the Nikon German website. It was spotted that the website is hiding two different Nikon  Mount Cameras from the search listing. Multiple users reported that almost all websites worldwide (Nikon UK, Nikon Spain, and Nikon Europe) were hiding two Z Mount cameras from the search listings.

It’s very clear that in the next few weeks, we may have two different Z-camera announcements from Nikon. If you take a look at the rumors we’ve had in the past, there’s a strong probability that the Nikon Z6 Mark III will arrive, and the next camera to be released should be the Nikon Z7 Mark 3. Apart from these, there are also very strong rumors about the arrival of the Nikon Z50 Mark II. So, let’s wait. There’s also a strong possibility that the update of the Nikon Z7 Mark 3 may be delayed.

Sony A6700R and Sony FX50 Rumor

According to the latest rumors coming from the rumor mill, Sony FX 50 and Sony a6700 are maybe in the announcement pipeline. Take a look at the specifications of the rumored cameras below.

A6700 R coming in 2024

We do not have much information about the Sony a6700R camera. In the Sony A7 series, the ‘R’ is denoted for resolution and we already have a 6700 camera with a 26-megapixel resolution. So, there is a possibility that Sony may introduce the Sony A6700R and Sony A6700s line of cameras, similar to their full-frame series lineup. It is really interesting to see what happens next.

Sony FX50 Rumored specification
New FX50 you mentioned, has the highest dynamic range of almost all Sony full frame sensors. it is 35mm.
Has : Autofocus, IBIS, electronic variable ND.
Same style of body like Canon C70 but slimmer and lighter.
Around 3000$ launch price.
Not FX 30 sensor.
Higher dynamic range at least 15.
Very cheap rival to Arri Alexa and C70.

The next rumor is about Sony FX50 and the rumored core specs look very promising. There is high probability the camera will have an APS-C / Super 35mm sensor may be the same as A6700.. or something brand new sensor optimized for recoding video. These specs look very promising. At the same time, we do know that last year, the Sony ZV-E10 camera contributed to 50% of the overall sales of Sony Alpha series cameras. So, Sony is now more serious about developing their video lineup of cameras and in 2024 we may see multiple related announcements. So yes, there is a high probability that we may see FX50 or something similar to that in 2024.

Canon Discontinued the LP-E8 Battery

Canon Finally discontinued its LP-E8 battery, the batteries were compatible with some old Canon APS-C DSLR models,  If you already have one of these DSLRs then it’s a good time to purchase a backup battery.

Canon LP-E8 Battery Compatible Models

  • 550D
  • 600D
  • 650D
  • Rebel T2i
  • Rebel T3i
  • Rebel T4i
  • Rebel T5i

The Canon 650D / T5i was Canon’s first APS-C DSLR camera with a Hybrid CMOS AF Sensor (Nor DPAF), After that Canon used Hybrid DSLR sensors in 700D as well as in 750D too, and after that, they introduced the Canon 70D, the world’s first camera with DPAF sensor.  And after Canon 70D Canon introduced DPAF to Canon 750D. So, overall the Hybrid AF sensor period of Canon was very short at that time, but since the Canon 650D / T5i was the first camera with a Hybrid CMOS AF sensor it was very popular at that time.

Digital Camera Shipments Dropped by 80.5% in November 2023

In the morning I posted the article – Vivo X100 Pro Smartphones May Decrease the Sales of Mirrorless Cameras

and now we have this news, it’s not about any specific smartphone but now in general overall smartphone tech has been raised to the next level, now the difference becoming narrower with the advancement in smartphone tech and camera modules.

Let’s back to the news – Digital Camera Shipments in November 2023 – Digital camera shipments in November 2023 will significantly decrease by 80.5% compared to the same month last year

The total number of digital cameras shipped in October 2023 was 80.5% (76.9% in value) compared to the same month the previous year, which is significantly lower on both a unit and value basis. In 2023, shipments greatly exceeded the previous year’s numbers in April and May. From June until October, shipments remained at the same level as the previous year, but they plummeted in November.

Among camera shipments, lens-integrated models / compact cameras with built-in lenses accounted for 75.8% (91.5% in terms of value) compared to the same month the previous year. This is an improvement from October, but it continues to be low. Interchangeable lens cameras/mirrorless + DSLR cameras have been performing well so far, but in November they were at 81.9% compared to the same month the previous year (75.4% in terms of value), which was significantly lower than the previous year in both quantity and value.

Among interchangeable-lens types, we have DSLR as well as Mirrorless both stats, shipments of single-lens reflex cameras were 86,575 units (52.6% compared to the same month the previous year), and mirrorless cameras were 415,342 units (92.7% compared to the same month the previous year). Mirrorless cameras had the highest growth to date, but their growth stalled in November.

Its short DSLR shipment is all-time low and Mirrorless isn’t also performed well in November

The number of units shipped by region was 72.6% compared to the same month the previous year in Japan, 94.3% in China, 74.2% in Asia (excluding Japan and China), 66.2% in Europe, 96.0% in the Americas, and 75.1% in other regions. Sales in each region are down from the previous year, but the decline seems to be particularly large in Japan and Europe. The situation in November has changed significantly from October, when Japan was performing well.

That’s not good news for camera makers for sure.
