Sony A6700 vs Sony A7 III

Let’s compare the Sony a6700 camera versus the Sony A73. People are quite confused about which camera they should buy since both of them are approximately in the same price range.

Can a 4-Year-Old Camera Beat Sony A6700?

The biggest factor behind the confusion is that the Sony A73 is a full-frame camera and every photographer wishes to have a full-frame camera in their hand. But it’s a four-year-old camera, so the big question is, can it still beat or outperform the Sony a6700 camera which is a recent announcement?

Let’s Find out the best camera for photographers

So, let’s do a simple comparison that will help you understand which camera you should buy based on your personal requirements and budget boundaries.

Vari-angle Display Screen Vs Tilting Display Screen

Design-wise, both cameras are good. The advantage we have with the Sony a6700 camera is the vari-angle display screen which is more helpful for a content creator rather than a photographer. With the Sony A73 camera, we do get a tilting display screen.

Sony A6700 Lightweight More Convenient for Vlog and Travel

The other biggest advantage of the a6700 camera is its slightly lightweight and compact body. So if you are a travel photographer or a content creator, it is recommended to have a smaller and more compact body for the long run.

Sony A7 III – Dual Card Slot and Professional Body

But if you talk about the advantages of the Sony A73 camera, we are able to have dual card slots in this, while the Sony a6700 camera is limited to a single card slot. At the same time, the overall look and feel of the Sony A73 camera looks a bit more professional.

Internal Core Difference – Best Camera for Photographers

Let’s talk about the internal core differences of both the cameras. If you are a photographer, which camera should you prefer? And if you are a content creator or filmmaker, which camera should you use? We will discuss below.

Full-frame vs APS-C – Best Camera for LOW-LIGHT

If you are a photographer, then without a doubt, having a full-frame sensor is the biggest advantage inside a camera. But at the same time, the sensor is approximately 4 years old. Will it outperform the Sony a6700 camera’s latest sensor in high ISO test or in base ISO test or not? Let’s find out.

At the highest ISO, you can see that at ISO 51200, the Sony A73 camera can preserve more details compared to the Sony a6700 camera. If you stop down ISO to 25600, the difference remains the same.

It indicates that the sensor of the Sony A73 camera, despite being a four-year-old sensor, is still outperforming the Sony a6700 camera’s latest 26-megapixel APS-C CMOS sensor.

CONCLUSION

So, if you’re a photographer and working in uncontrolled light environments, then it is highly recommended to buy the Sony A73 camera without a doubt.

The rest of the core specifications include the continuous shooting speed of the camera. With the Sony a6700 camera, you can shoot up to 11 frames per second, and the JPEG storage is approximately 1000 frames due to a larger buffer. At the same time, the Sony A73 camera’s slightly limited buffer space allows you to shoot up to 10 frames per second.

So, we have a very slight difference in the continuous shooting speed of the cameras.

Auto Focus System of A7 III Highly usable | Sony A6700 is More advanced

The artificial intelligence tracking system of the Sony a6700 camera is highly advanced. Now, you are able to track moving insects as well as high-speed moving vehicles. Although, if you talk about the face and eye autofocus detection and tracking mechanism, then the Sony A73 camera is also able to detect faces and eyes very efficiently.

Feature Sony a6700 Sony A73
Design Vari-angle display screen Tilting display screen
Body Lightweight and compact More professional look and feel
Card Slots Single card slot Dual card slots
Sensor Latest 26-megapixel APS-C CMOS sensor Four-year-old full-frame sensor
ISO Performance Inferior at high ISO Superior at high ISO
Continuous Shooting Speed Up to 11 frames per second Up to 10 frames per second
Buffer Larger buffer (approx. 1000 frames) Slightly limited buffer
AI Tracking System Highly advanced Efficient face and eye detection
Recommended For Controlled light environments Uncontrolled light environments

If you’re a photographer, it is very clear that the A73 camera is performing extremely well under low light conditions. So, unless you’re working in controlled light environments like in your studio or if you shoot your models with controlled light, then only I would recommend you to have the a6700 camera for photography purposes. But if you shoot most of your pictures in uncontrolled light environments, then it is highly recommended for you to have a Sony A73 camera instead of the a6700 camera. Despite several features the a6700 camera has inside its body, it doesn’t matter if its low light performance is worse and the end result that you will have in your memory card is inferior compared to a 4-year-old camera. So, it doesn’t make any sense to recommend the a6700 camera.

Olympus OM 1 vs OM System 1 Mark II | 7 Major Difference

Let’s compare the two cameras and find out the major difference between the two. Olympus OM 1 vs OM System 1 Mark II

1. The Olympus OM-1 Mark II camera has arrived and, as you can see, Olympus is trending with this camera. In the design part, it’s written at the camera’s center “OM System” instead of the Olympus logo, which is not good to see.

Specification Olympus OM-1 Olympus OM-1 Mark II
Image Processor TruePic X Same as OM-1, but redesigned
RAM Not specified Improved compared to OM-1
Autofocus Algorithms Not specified Updated for improved subject detection
Logo on Camera Olympus logo “OM System”

2. According to the camera maker, the Olympus OM-1 Mark II camera uses the same TruePic X image processor as the original model. Still, this image processor has been redesigned and they have improved the RAM space compared to the previous version. The company says that with the help of more RAM and updated autofocus algorithms, the camera can now have an improved subject detection mode.

3. Now, the camera also has a human detection mode which detects human body movement more precisely compared to the previous generation of cameras. This goes beyond face and eye detection, so now it is more reliable in tracking a human body compared to the previous generation of cameras.

Specification Olympus OM-1 Olympus OM-1 Mark II
Human Detection Mode Not specified Detects human body movement more precisely
Face and Eye Detection Available More reliable in tracking a human body
Autofocus Refresh Rate Not specified Improved, boosts performance in subject tracking mode and continuous focus tracking mode

4. The company says the autofocus refresh rate has been improved (although we don’t have the exact number of differences between the refresh rate of the predecessor and successor). This boosts the performance of the camera, specifically in the subject tracking mode or in the continuous focus tracking mode.

5. With the introduction of a new and improved image processor and artificial intelligence algorithms, the camera makers say they have also updated the image stabilization system of the camera up to 8.5 stops, earlier it was 8 stops in the original OM-1 camera.

Specification Olympus OM-1 Olympus OM-1 Mark II
Image Processor and AI Algorithms Original New and improved
Image Stabilization System 8 stops Up to 8.5 stops
Buffer Size 169 raw frames at 10 fps with a mechanical shutter, 108 raw frames at 20 fps with an electronic shutter Up to 256 raw frames at 50 FPS or 213 frames in a single continuous burst at the rate of 120 FPS
ND Filters Built-in ND filters Graduated ND filter with options of ND 2, ND 4, and ND 8

6. The Olympus OM-1 Mark II camera now has a bigger buffer and it can shoot up to 256 raw frames at 50 FPS or 213 frames in a single continuous burst at the rate of 120 FPS. These numbers are better compared to the Olympus OM-1 camera.

7. You already have the option of built-in ND filters in the Olympus OM-1 camera, but now we have a graduated ND filter. This is a unique type of filter generally used for landscape photography and now we have it in the Olympus OM-1 Mark II camera. Even in the graduated ND filter, we get options of ND 2, ND 4, and ND 8.

8. The New OM System Mark II camera features complete blackout-free shooting which was not possible with the Olympus OM – 1, that really a valuable improvement for wildlife and sports shooters.

Multi-shot Raw Mode 50-megapixel high-resolution mode 80-megapixel large image in-camera, with an additional raw mode | 50 Mp handheld also available
Battery BLX-1, gives around 500 shots per charge Same BLX-1 battery, but performance may drop slightly due to a more upscale image processor, estimated around 450-480 shots per charge

SO, these are the Major differences we have between the two cameras. The rest of the core specifications of both cameras remain the same.

Canon Dual Fisheye 3D VR Lens for Canon R7 and Much More at CES 2024

Canon’s three concept models showcased at CES 2024 show Canon’s dedication to the cinema and content creation industry. The first model starting from the left, 001, features an APS-C VR lens, and the second model, 002, incorporates an APS-C 3D lens and third is 360° / 180° 3D VR Camera

Above you can see Canon R7 is using Canon’s latest prototype lenses to be announced in the near future

– Concept Model 001: APS-C 4D Dual Lens VR Lens (affordable version of RF 5.2mm ?)
– Concept Model 002: APS-C 3D Stereoscopic Lens

The first lens from the left looks very similar to the Canon RF 5.2mm F2.8 Lens without RED RING, The 5.2mm it is an existing VR lens in the RF mount series.  But the lens shown above looks like made for an APS-C Mount camera and does not come under L branding, so for sure it will be more affordable compared to the RF 5.2mm F2.

After looking at the images, I feel that Canon is putting more effort into developing APS-C-based lenses. For the first time, I saw an APS-C-based dedicated 3D Cinema Lens. Canon will surely not stop here. In the near future, we will have some dedicated cinema bodies similar to the C70 or Canon R7, which have Super 35mm / APS-C sensors.

– Concept Model 003: 360° / 180° 3D VR Camera

Canon hasn’t said much officially about these lenses, but we expect at least one to be commercialized. The specs for these lenses are unknown as they are kept away from the reach of visitors’ hand and Canon rep was not sharing much details about the future products.
