According to the latest information, the Leica V-Lux 5 camera has been discontinued and there is no further information shareed by Leica or the source whether Leica will continue this series or not, according to the latest reports we have.
TNC take – There is no way that Leica can continue the V-Lux series without the support of Panasonic’s rebranded cameras.
We all know and it’s written all over the internet that the Leica V-Lux 5 was a rebranded version of the Panasonic FZ 1000 Mark 2, specs wise both of them are still excellent options for those who love to have a compact zoom camera with DCI 4k video recording capability.
The Panasonic FZ 1000 II was announced back in March 2019, and Leica announced the V-Lux 5 Camera with some external grooming on 24 September 2020. But, after that, Panasonic kept silent on their FZ1000 series and no further update arrived. Maybe due to the low demand for compact cameras, the company decided to pause or halt the R&D of FZ series cameras.
Now we all know that Panasonic has dropped the support of their compact series except the G100 (the only compact still receiving updates), Even in the latest release, the entire focus of the Panasonic Lumix brand is on the research and development of their upcoming full-frame mirrorless cameras. They are also sharing some attention over the Micro Four Thirds cameras and so we are expecting the arrival of the Panasonic GH7 this year.

According to the latest rumors, the Nikon Z6 Mark 3 camera with a minor update and the Sony ZV-E10 Mark II camera, possibly with a 26-megapixel APS-C CMOS sensor (Same as the Sony A6700), will arrive in June 2024 as per the latest set of rumors we have.
Sony lenses that include 16 to 25 mm f/2.8 are coming on April 16 to 17, and the ZV-E10 Mark II camera is expected to arrive in the month of June 2024. TNC take: So, for now, as you know the Sony A6700 camera was announced in July 2023, and Sony took almost 4 years to bring the update, the Sony A6600 was announced in Aug 2019. So, you can notice the big difference between the update cycle of both the flagship APS-C Cameras. So, even if Sony plans to update the A6700 camera a bit early, even though they will announce it sometime in late 2025 (Q4 of 2025). So, it’s completely safe to buy a Sony A6700 camera for now.

Leica’s registered a new camera! The new D-Lux camera is about to be released, possibly as a limited edition. Recently, Leica registered a new D-Lux camera with the codename Type 3952A. The current model of the Leica D-Lux camera is 3952 (some e-commerce platforms have already marked it as discontinued). From the name, this new camera seems to be a minor upgrade, but it could also be a limited edition.
PS: we are talking about the re-release of a camera with a minor since the model code is the same as of previous one the only difference is letter A at the end.
