We have published a rumor a while ago that the upcoming X-Pro2 camera may feature Sony A7000 sensor, now once Fuji starts purchasing Sensor from Sony it’s obvious that they won’t stop on A7000 sensor only, they will sure buy the ultra popular 1″ sensor of RX100 series camera for their future premium compact line.
Before we start you must know that Canon also purchased 1″ sensor from Sony (Rx100 M3 sensor) and announced two new G series camera with the same sensor, the Canon G7X and G3X.
Till date no compact camera from Fuji features 1″ Sensor, Fuji X30 and X-S1 compacts with 2/3″ CMOS sensor announced almost a year ago and desperately waiting for update.
According to a latest rumors surfaced over the web Fuji will announce its first 1″ Sensor camera on September / October 2015, at the moment we don’t know the names yet, but we do expect Fuji will soon announce X40 and X-S2 camera with 1″ sensor, possible stacked CMOS sensor same as of RX100 M4 camera.
Take a look at the history – Post published on September 1st, 2014 The real reason why Fuji X30 sales are down

First take a look at the reason behind the delay of X-pro2, X-E3 and X-T2…
On March, 2012 the first X-Trans sensor based camera was announced., its name was X-Pro 1, after that X-E1 and X-M1 was also announced having the same 1st gen X-Trans same sensor as of X-Pro1.
On January 7, 2013 Fuji introduced a 2nd generation of X-Trans sensor.. but this time they have selected X100S camera for the introduction of X-Trans II… after that Fuji announced X-E2, X-T1, X100T and X-10 (on May 18th, 2015 ) by having the same sensor.
But unfortunately from 2013 Fuji is stucked at X-Trans II and they are unable to bring any new professional camera like X-Pro 2, X-E3 or X-T2..

According to latest rumors surfaced over the Fujirumor website, Fuji will use the same sensor as of unannounced Sony A7000 camera in its upcoming X-Pro2,.. May be the news is correct since they are unable bring new version of X-Trans sensor from 2013.
However Fuji X-Pro 2 announcement bit delayed again due to the issues of A7000 camera (overheating of the sensor while recording 4K) , so if Sony announces its camera in next few months (possibly in September), than Fuji camera will be released the first half of 2016 about six months after the A7000 announcement

Take a look at the text below said by Fuji managers / Takashi Ueno, they don’t believe that Fullframe sensor are better than APS-C Sensor camera…
We gave a lot of thought to this, and reached our conclusion that APS-C is the best format for the optimum balance of body size and image quality.
Higher image quality can be achieved with full frame sensors, but in order to maximize the use of the sensor size, the lens will be very bulky and heavy.
With the power of FUJINON lens, we can achieve the full frame image quality with the APS-C sensor. We learned that the disadvantage can be recovered with the lens performance through various simulations.
Here is an example. It is generally believed that the lens performs at its best with 1 to 2 stop down from the maximum aperture. We tried to break the norm. Because if there is such belief, then the lens is very unlikely to perform at its best from corner to corner with the aperture wide open. But if we can break the norm, then we will achieve bokeh and sharpness that is equivalent to that of a full frame with 1 to 2 stop down. We can achieve the image quality that is equivalent to that of full frame.
Which is better? An f/1.4 lens on a full frame sensor and then used 1 stop down to prevent degradation in the image quality in the corner or an f/1.4 lens on an APS-C that see no degration in the image quality at its maximum aperture value?
You cannot really see the difference in bokeh between the APS-C wide open and the full frame one stop down. However, if the APS-C is wide open, then the shutter speed will be twice as fast as the full frame resulting in be less blur caused by hand shake or subject movement. If the picture becomes blurry, then the high image quality becomes meaningless.”

Take a look a the HIGH ISO test of both the camera, (ignore the glare due to bad lighting), at the end it is very clear that both camera is producing almost same image quality due to the presence of same image sensor inside it, however the XT-10 is an affordable version of the X-T1 camera and if you are planning to buy the X-T1 and don’t need weather sealing feature than you must buy the X-T10 and save some bucks for better lenses.
