Nikon to Focus on Image Quality and 8K Video

Nikon is now putting it attention towards 8k Technology, According to interview published at asahi.com, President Kazuo Ushida of Nikon said

Major points of the interview

Seeking new growth fields that include health care business and ophthalmology.
Developing a product that supports high-definition “8K”, a strategy to differentiate them from smartphones.
Focus on high-end models, narrowing down models (small and unpopular cameras).
Enhancing overall image quality.

It’s clearly looks that Nikon is working hard on improving the current tech used inside the Digital cameras. They are about to bring more better sensors and 8K video inside high-end DSLRs and Future Mirrorless camera.

Nikon Hybrid Sensor Patent

Latest Patent document reveals that Nikon is working on Hybrid Sensor. The patent document surfaced over the web isn’t new and shows of date of 2012. However, that gives that gives a clear indication that Nikon is willing to implement Hybrid sensors in DSLRs and Mirrorless in near feature.

Nikon Patent - 35mm FF Lens with Curve Sensor

A wired lens patent from Nikon surfaced over the web, we are saying wired since the lens us made for curve sensor. And if you look at the patent image the camera doesn’t have any mirror inside. So, the patent clearly shows us future Nikon Mirrorless camera with a curve sensor.

The patent doesn’t specify that camera is a Compact camera or a Mirrorless camera. Few weeks ago we have told you that Nikon is working on High-End Mirrorless camera and just after that Nikon also officially confirmed the same. It is also possible that Nikon may be working on a Sony RX1 series competitor ? since the lens attached with the camera is a 35mm F2 fixed lens.

Earlier we have received information that Nikon will going to expand the Nikon 1 series camera.

Nikon to Announce Nikon D850 / 820 this Summer

We have heard a lot of news related to Nikon D810 successor, not only that we have also seen a lot information related to Nikon D760 but it isn’t coming yet. Let’s take look what coming next…

1.Nikon D810 Successor is Next

Finally we are getting more hints as the announcement time is reaching close to us, Next Nikon camera is expected to arrive before sept of 2017. Yes, it’s true that we will going to see Nikon D810 / D850 successor this summer.

Without any doubt we can say we will going to see major jump in core specification of the camera. We also expect a higher resolution sensor (50+) FX format sensor with enhanced dynamic range and better sensitivity.

2.Nikon Mega Zoom P910 / P1000

Will Nikon going to announce replacement of current Nikon P900 model this year or they will remain silent due to the absence of perfect competitor is a big question right now, since the most preferred time for Nikon Megazoom announcement is considered to be summer of every year.

If we talk about rumor, yes we have bunch of rumor coming from veteran rumor mill which say Nikon is ready for next compact megazom announcement, not only that Nikon also have 100X compact lens patent that clearly shows Nikon is unstoppable.

3.Nikon Compacts in trouble

Nikon compact section suffering from a big failure, first they terminated all small sensor as well as DX sensor based Coolpix A camera and announced new DL series camera with Hybrid 1 inch sensor. But due to some issues DL series never become reality. So, literally except compact Megazoom camera (P900) Nikon doesn’t have any professional compact camera for its user.

4.Baby D5

Nikon baby D5 / Nikon DF II Camera replacement is still a possibility. No concrete information available on that.

5.Nikon Mirrorless

Nikon Mirrorless is expected to arrive in late 2017 and Early 2018. Now more information available more than that.

Sony Files Patent Infringement Suit Against Fujifilm

Just like Nikon Fuji also feeling some heat waves. According to News Mag thestreet.com the U.S international is soon going to launch a investigation into Fujifilm (FUJIY) magnetic tape cartridge and component imports following a patent infringement complaint by Sony.

The complaint was filed back in January 2017. Sony claims that magnetic tap cartridge uses Sony tech without a license / permission from Sony.

It’s look like world leading Mirrorless makers fight is going beyond ring.

Glimpse of Future: Olympus Mirrorless with 33MP Sensor and 8K Video

In an recent interview Olympus general manager Mr. Akira Watanabe and Mr. Toshiyuki Terada from Olympus said that we can develop even 8k camera that will going to future 33 million pixel inside.

“we can assure you that there is no problem in developing sensors at 33 million pixels for filming in 8K. We started the 4/3″ saga with a sensor at 5 Mpx In 2003. Now the same sensor is at 20 Mpx with a much higher image quality especially for the management of electronic noise.”

1. 33MP 4/3 Sensor with 8K Video

We think 5K camera with an 33MP sensor is possible from Olympus since 2003 they are developing 43rd cameras and started with 5 megapixel sensors and now they have developed Olympus EM1 Mark II. world most advanced M4/3rd camera .

2. Smartphone App Coming

In the same interview they have also confirmed that they are working on Smartphone app for the Olympus mirrorless and High-end compacts cameras.The App will use Bluetooth connectivity as the Nikon snapbridge app and will allow remote shooting with manual controls.

3. Hand-held High Resolution will become possible

Later he also added Olympus is working on Hand-held High-Resolution mode and in near future.

4. More Improvement on Image Stabilization

Nikon Working on High-end Mirrorless and Medium Format Cameras

During an interview to Yahoo Japan Nikon executives said that they will bring multiple mirrorless camera at an early stage. The things to be noted that after extraordinary loss news, this is the first good news we are getting itself from Nikon, more details below…

1. “Bringing in multiple mirroless camera at an early stage”

The line was quoted during the interview, after suffering from heavy loss Nikon is finally realizing it’s mistakes. Nikon is still not making any serious mirrorless solutions for professionals, seasonal or entry level Photographers. However we are the only website who told you Nikon is planning to expand it’s Nikon 1 series Mirrorless camera and soon we will see FF and APS-C Mirrorless from Nikon.

2. Medium and High-End DSLRs

Nikon executives also told during the interview that future Nikon will concentrate on their resources on medium and high-end in DSLR cameras and lenses and mirrorless camera.

Nikon Announce a camera, High-End DPAF Sensor based mirrorless camera in near future. As you can look at the patent we have published here and it clrealy indicates that Nikon is also working on same Dual-pixels CMOS AF tech as of Canon.

What will happen to the current schedule announcement of cameras?

The other things to be noted is Nikon camera business has been re-constructing from inside to out, that clearly indicates that the future of announcement and development is going to be rescheduled. That may create some level of disappointment among Nikon users due to the delay in the regular update cycle of DSLRs.

As we all know that Nikon D750, Nikon D610 and Nikon D810 camera overdue for an update. So, be it will be interesting to see how you can handle the entire situation.
