Nikon’s Lens Empire Expands: Sendai Factory’s Mega Investment!

To meet the Global demand they Have to UPSCALE the Production facility, Nikon is investing ¥25 billion ($160M) to EXTEND HIGH-END lens Manufacturing unit in Otawara, Tochigi Prefecture, Japan. The High-End Lenses and cameras: Primarily produced in Japan (Sendai and Tochigi) due to the need for high precision and advanced technology. And Most of the Consumer Lenses: (DX ones and Some variable aperture-based FX Lenses) are mainly produced in Thailand, leveraging cost-effective production processes to cater to a broader market.

NIKON CAMERA AND LENS MANUFACTURING UNIT LOCATION

Sendai Nikon Corporation
- Location: Natori, Miyagi Prefecture, Japan
- Specialization: High-end camera lenses and flagship camera bodies. Nikon’s higher-end cameras made here since 1971.
Tochigi Nikon Corporation
- Location: Otawara, Tochigi Prefecture, Japan
- Specialization: High-precision optical components, including various NIKKOR lenses.
- Production: Focuses on producing High Grade Z Mount Lenses. The facility is integral to the production of both DSLR and mirrorless lenses.
Nikon (Thailand) Co., Ltd.
- Location: Ayutthaya, Thailand
- Specialization: Mass production of consumer and mid-range lenses, along with some camera bodies.

Nikon Was also having a Lens and compact camera manufacturing unit in Wuxi, China. On October 2017, Nikon announced they are closing their Chinese manufacutring unit.

Nikon Z6 Mark III Announcement Soon 2024 - Latest Updates

UPDATE: Nikon Z6 Mark III Announcement on June 17 at 8 a.m. ET

As we get closer to the Nikon Z6 Mark III camera announcement, we are getting more related updates. The Camera was expected to arrive on June 11, 2024, But, Now we have a new date from the rumor mill and the camera may arrive on June 18, 2024. The good thing is the announcement will happen within a week, So I am super excited about this.

According to the Nikon Rumor mill the Nikon Z6 mark III camera is expected to arrive

on or around June 11 (±1 day)
on or around June 18 (±1 day)

There could be several reasons for the discrepancy:

We may see a teaser for the new camera on June 11 and the official announcement on June 18 (the most likely scenario).
June 11 could be the internal presentation, and June 18 the official announcement.
June 11 could be the official announcement, and June 18 the actual shipping date.
June 11 could be the development announcement (less likely).
June 11 could be the announcement date, and pre-orders will open on June 18 (less likely).
I am sure there are a few other scenarios I did not mention here, but you get the picture

UPDATE: From Nikon China

Dealers are invited for product testing on June 18 and are also open for registration for others. This usually happens after the official announcement of the camera. So, you can expect Z6 III will arrive before June 18, 2024.
