Fuji X-T50 Image Leaked, Announcement on May 16, 2024

Finally, we have the leaked image of the Fuji X-T50 camera, the camera will be announced on May 16, 2024, and is rumored to feature the same sensor that we have seen in the Fuji X-T5 camera. And the big surprise is that Fuji will introduce the IBIS system inside the Fuji X-T50 for the first time. I am excited about the X-T50 and will post an update as soon as we get any.

Canon R7 Mark II | Canon R9 - Next from Canon

Now we have one more registered Canon camera as we reported a few days ago, and that creates a huge possibility for the replacement of the Canon R7 or R10  as we have discussed in the earlier post too, take a look at the details of Canon registered cameras first

List of Canon Upcoming Cameras

  • ID174 registered on April 19, 2024, with Dual-band Wi-Fi 5. [Cinema Camera]
  • ID179 registered on February 4, 2024, with Dual-band Wi-Fi 5. [Cinema Camera]
  • DS126922 registered on February 4, 2024, with Dual-band Wi-Fi 6& Bluetooth. [Mirrorless Camera]
  • DS126928 registered on March 29, 2024, with Dual-band Wi-Fi 6& Bluetooth. [Mirrorless Camera]
  • DS126904 registered on April 26, 2024, with Dual-band Wi-Fi 5& Bluetooth. [Mirrorless Camera]

Most of the existing APS-C sensor-based cameras, as well as full-frame sensor-based cameras, are up to date and the Canon R5 Mark II and Canon R1 are coming, as well as the Canon R5C Mark II. So after these full-frame Mirrorless cameras, we can expect Canon to Focus on the APS-C range, where the entry-level Zone is already updated, and the oldest two APS-C Mirrorless cameras in Canon lineup waiting to get an update is the Canon R7 Mark II and Canon 10 MK II or Canon R9

Canon Camera Announcement Dates

Canon R3 Mark – September 13, 2021 [R3 is a flagship-level camera Canon will take 4+ years to update this model ]
Canon R5C Mark – 19 Jan 2022
Canon R6 Mark II – 2nd November 2022
Canon R5 – 09 July 2020
Canon R8 – April 18, 2023

Canon R7 – 24 May 2022
Canon R10 – 24 May 2022
Canon R50 – February 7, 2023
Canon R100 – 24 May 2023

Why are we talking about the Canon R7 Mark II right now?

The Canon R100 camera and Canon R50 are the most updated in the entry-level range. Yes, but there is a chance that we may see an update of the Canon R10 camera in August or September of 2024. And similarly, we have a flagship APS-C camera, the Canon R7. The Canon R7 is completely outdated now; it uses the Canon 90D’s DSLR sensor, and the readout speed of that particular sensor is 29.2 milliseconds, which is way worse than the existing sensors or competitors around the camera.

So there is a very high probability that we will see a Canon R7 Mark II camera shortly with an updated 32-megapixel sensor, a DIGIC X image processor, and the ability to record 6K open gate videos and continuous shooting speed up to 40 frames per second in Craw mode.

The other thing we expect is a true successor of the Canon 90D camera, the Canon R9. Since the transition from DSLR to mirrorless, we have a successor to every camera in the mirrorless range, specifically in the APS-C zone, but the 90D successor hasn’t arrived yet. So the Canon R9 can be selected to be the spiritual successor or the mirrorless successor of the highly popular Canon 90D camera.

List of Canon DSLR Cameras with its Mirrorless Successor

Canon 7D – Canon R7
Canon 90D – Canon R9 [Expected]
Canon 850D – Canon R10
Canon 200D Mark II – Canon R50
Canon 1500D – Canon R100

Why is the release of the Canon R9 imminent?

Canon has two options now either to update the Canon R10 Mark II camera with a 32MP Sensor of Canon R7, but even if they do so it will not properly fill the place of the Canon 90D camera, since the Canon 90D was a professional weather-sealed body with Dual cards slots.

There should be a Canon R9 to complete the incomplete Canon RF Mount APS-C Mirrorless lineup.

Stay tuned for more updates

Not only an inch sensor-based vlogging compact Canon is also planning to introduce APS-C Sensor based camera. In the latest patent that we spotted a while ago, it’s visible that the Canon V-style camera in the patent literature uses a large APS-C sensor. So, for sure Canon does have some strong plans for Canon V10 bigger brother.

Sony 16-25mm F2.8 is now Official - Press Release

Sony today announced a new G series lens, the 16-25mm F2.8, the lens price is approximately $1,199.99 USD available at B&H Store.

Sony Electronics Announces a Compact Wide-Angle FE 16-25mm F2.8 G Zoom Lens

SAN DIEGO. April 16, 2024 – Sony Electronics is pleased to announce the FE 16-25mm F2.8 G (SEL1625G), a large-aperture wide-angle zoom lens compatible with Sony’s α™ (Alpha™) E-mount cameras. This latest addition delivers sharp imagery from 16 mm through 25 mm while maintaining a maximum aperture of F2.8 over the entire zoom range. The FE 16-25mm F2.8 G is the smallest and lightest constant F2.8 zoom lens that Sony has produced to date. The compact design is a signature feature of Sony’s G lens series and makes it a highly portable lens option.

The FE 16-25mm F2.8 G’s wide-angle lens offers photographers and videographers an expanded range of creative expression, allowing them to capture a variety of subjects including landscapes, architecture, portraits, and selfie-shooting. This new addition follows the FE 24-50mm F2.8 G standard zoom lens announced February 2024, both offering many of the same characteristics including filter diameter, aperture, and compact size and weight.

“The FE 16-25mm F2.8 G was designed to offer creators a wide-angle lens option that perfectly balances large-aperture, compact form factor, and high-image quality. This is the 73rd addition to our E-mount lens line-up, and just another step in our commitment to providing photographers and videographers with the perfect lens solutions for their specific needs,” says Yang Cheng, Vice President, Imaging Solutions, Sony Electronics Inc. “The FE 16-25mm F2.8 G is a fantastic lens with high-resolution performance, beautiful bokeh, and high precision autofocus. It is a perfect companion to the Alpha 7C R and Alpha 7C II compact full-frame camera bodies, and together they offer an unbeatable lightweight set-up.”

Key Features of FE 16-25mm F2.8 G

The FE 16-25mm F2.8 G features an impressively compact and lightweight design with a width of 74.8mm (about 2.94 in), length of 91.4mm (about 3.58 in), filter diameter of φ67 mm, and weight of approximately 409g.

This lens incorporates advanced optical technology to deliver exceptional image quality across the entire frame. By incorporating three Extra-Low Dispersion (ED) elements and four aspherical lenses (including one ED aspherical lens), the lens design effectively minimizes various optical aberrations, including chromatic aberration.

The FE 16-25mm F2.8 G combines an 11-blade circular aperture and the optimization of spherical aberration to produce the signature smooth bokeh known to the G lens series. Moreover, it offers functional close-up shooting capabilities with a minimum shooting distance of 0.18m and a maximum magnification of 0.20x when using autofocus (AF)i.

The lens is equipped with two linear motors that enable exceptional autofocus performance, delivering high-speed, high-precision, and quiet focusing capabilities, even when capturing fast-moving subjects. These linear motors ensure swift and accurate focusing, allowing photographers and videographers to maintain sharpness and clarity in their images and videos, even in challenging shooting situations. Furthermore, it supports high-speed continuous shooting with AF/AE tracking of up to 120 frames per second, a feature capable of being used when paired with the Alpha 9 III full-frame mirrorless cameraii.

The FE 16-25mm F2.8 G excels in video performance, ensuring smooth and precise focusing even when shooting high-frame-rate videos such as 4K120p or FHD240piii. The lens is equipped with linear response manual focus (MF), allowing videographers to make precise focus adjustments with ease. Additionally, it supports in-body Active Mode Image Stabilizationiv and Focus Breathing to optimize video capture.

The lens is equipped with practical and user-friendly functionality including a customizable focus hold button, aperture ring, aperture click ON/OFF switch, and a focus mode switch. The FE 16-25mm F2.8 G’s design is dust and moisture resistantv, and includes a fluorine coating to further prevent dirt from sticking to the front surface of the lens.

Pricing and Availability

The FE 16-25mm F2.8 G will be available for pre-sale April 17, 2024, and purchase May 10, 2024. It will retail for approximately $1,199.99 USD and $1,599.99 CAN, at a variety of Sony’s authorized dealers throughout North America.

Nikon Z6 Mark III uses 24 MP Sensor and Nikon Z7 III ...

We are getting more confirmation that the Nikon Z 6 Mark III camera will carry a 24-megapixel sensor. This information recently broke out from a Chinese source, which is approximately 90% of the time correct in the past. He also said that the Nikon Z7 Mark III camera will carry a 61-megapixel sensor.

So at this time, we got one more confirmation that not only the Z 6 Mark 3 camera is coming, but the Nikon Z7 Mark 3 is also set to arrive. The Nikon Z73 will have a huge upgrade in the sensor resolution from a 45-megapixel FX format BSI mass sensor. The upcoming camera will carry a 61 MP Sensor as per the latest set of rumors we have.

Actual: 62.5 Megapixel Effective: 61 Megapixel (9504 x 6336)

We received more information a few days ago but decided not to publish it at that time.

Source 2

Z7III, 67 million pixels, TowerJazz. Z6III, 24 million pixels, Sony.

A source claims that the Nikon Z7 Mark III Camera uses a 67 MP sensor made by TowerJazz, and as usual, the Nikon Z6 Mark III camera uses a 24 MP Sensor.

Is Nikon testing out several prototypes of higher-resolution sensors?

As we all know, before a camera goes to the final production line, camera makers test several prototypes. So, maybe both of them are correct, but we don’t know at this moment which camera was made for the final production line.

This reminds me of the post that I published back in Aug 2022, when Nikon China accidentally published an image of a 67 67-megapixel resolution Camera on their social media account. However, at that time, we thought maybe the upcoming Nikon Z8 camera may carry a higher-resolution sensor. But, as we all know, the Nikon Z8 uses a 45.7 MP Sensor. So, that means they do have a working prototype of a 67MP body, and they have been testing it for a long time.

So, now the story is taking its final shape. Nikon does have a 67 MP working prototype, and recent rumors suggest that there is one 61 MP too. Now let’s wait and watch which prototypes get approval for the final production line
