According to a well-known YouTube content creator “Jan Wegener” who also predicted the arrival of the many Canon and third-party camera makers well before their announcement, and recently also very clearly hinted that the Canon 200 to 800mm lens is coming prior to any website or rumor mill.

Although we can expect some sort of development announcement at the beginning of the year, the final set of announcements, as told by him, is about to happen at the end of 2024.

It’s really great news that Canon is finally willing to put more affordable lenses on the market. In the absence of an OPEN LENS MOUNT, for sure putting more affordable lenses in the market is a good move by Canon, if they bring more glasses for RF-S Mount too, the community will surely grow and the consumer base will expand. The Canon M50 Mark II has suddenly disappeared from Canon’s lineup. Although the EOS M item remains, there are no applicable models. The possibility of a Canon M50 Mark III appearing is close to zero, so it seems safe to call it the end of the EOS M series. At the same time, all compatible EF-M lenses also have a “low stock” mark. So, we can safely assume that the Canon R1 camera will arrive in the first quarter of 2024 and not the Canon R5 Mark II if this shared information is correct.
The Canon R1’s arrival also raises questions about the arrival of the R5 Mark II camera in the first quarter of 2024. So, there is a very high probability that just like Nikon did when they first announced the Nikon Z9 camera and after a gap announced the Z8 camera with almost 90% of the same core specifications that we have seen in the Nikon Z9.
