We finally have confirmation that the Nikon Z70 supports a 2× Digital Teleconverter. It was a huge surprise that an APS-C format camera could support a 2× digital teleconverter, making it an excellent package for professional photographers.
This was spotted in official promotional material for the newly announced NIKKOR Z 120-300mm f/2.8 TC VR S lens (released on October 29, 2026). In a Nikon Singapore newsletter, the company wrote:
“Pair with the Z70’s Digital Teleconverter and reach stretches to an equivalent of 1260mm at f/4.”
That’s strong confirmation, without a doubt, that the Nikon Z70 is fully compatible with Nikon’s 2× Digital Teleconverter.

What the Promo Text Actually Reveals
The new 120-300mm f/2.8 TC VR S is the world’s first constant-f/2.8 telephoto zoom with a built-in 1.4× teleconverter. When combined with the Z70’s 2× Digital Teleconverter, the effective reach jumps to 1,260mm at f/4.
This confirms two things:
- The Nikon Z70 exists and is real
- It has a dedicated 2x Digital Teleconverter feature
Timeline and Previous Leaks
Nikon has scheduled the Z70 for a November 2026 announcement. Despite this new confirmation, we are still waiting for final teaser images or videos from Nikon before calling its arrival 100% locked.
If we look at the earlier confirmation, it started in August 2026, when the Z70 briefly appeared on Apple’s official ProRes / ProRes RAW authorised products list (next to the Z6 III, Z8, Z9, and ZR) before being removed. That pointed to serious internal video capabilities.
Nikon Z70 Rumoured Specs (Still Unconfirmed)
Yes, the rumoured specs are still floating around the web. The Z70 as a high-end professional DX body – essentially the mirrorless spiritual successor to the D500 and a “mini-Z9/Z8” in the APS-C line:
- APS-C / DX format body
- High-resolution 45MP stacked (or fully stacked) sensor (high pixel density for reach)
- EXPEED 7 processor
- Fast continuous shooting and strong subject detection AF
- Strong video: ProRes / ProRes RAW support, high frame-rate 4K (and possibly 8K modes)
- Professional build, weather sealing, and ergonomics above the Z50 II / Z30
Pixel count and exact video specifications are still unconfirmed. The presence of a 2× Digital Teleconverter makes a high-resolution sensor more likely, as a 2× crop requires sufficient pixels to remain usable.
We’ll update this page as soon as more confirmed details emerge.
