Sony announced RX100 IV camera features newly developed sensor, the sensor comes with stacked backside-illuminated technology to enhance its low-light capabilities, Sony engineers placed its photodiodes between the rear of the lens and sensor’s underlying processing structure, hence the light capturing capability improved remarkably,
Now its time to take a look at the high ISO test between Sony RX100 IV and

Sony RX100 IV camera vs Canon G1X Mark II, The resolution of the G1X Mark II camera is limited to 12 Megapixels only by having a 1.5 inch sensor on the other hand the SonyRX100 IV features a 1 inch sensor with 20 Megapixel resolution,
Due to large sensor and less resolution the Canon G1X Mark II produces bit more details compared to the Sony RX100 M4 camera in both ISO test.
Sony RX100 IV uses newly developed stacked CMOS sensor, so does this tech help the RX100 IV camera to show significant difference compared to its predecessor, may be yes .. Since at ISO 3200 as well as at 6400 Sony RX100 M IV camera is able to grab out bit more details compared to RX100 M III, however I am not able to spot any significant difference between these two camera.
The LX100 features a 4/3 sensor, the sensor is large compared to the Sony RX100 camera… the LX100 features 12MP sensor whereas the Sony RX100 III features a 20 Megapixel CMOS sensor, since the LX100 large sensor we can clearly see the advantage in the image quality of the camera at ISO 3200, however I am surprised to see that at 6400 the image look more flat compared to the RX100 IV camera.

We are confirmed that the Canon G7X is using the BSI CMOS sensor of RX100 M3 and on the other hand the Sony RX100 M IV is using newly developed Stacked BSI CMOS sensor, however the difference is minimal and Sony RX100 IV is showing marginal better performance.

Just few days ago the Sony announced the RX100 IV camera, the camera does contain lot’s of new features, take a look at the detailed report created by our expert editors…
New features in RX100 M4
1. Stacked Sensor – What is stacked sensor ? In rough words the light gathering capability of the Exmor CMOS sensor is increased by stacking,.
This sensor’s construction utilizes a stacked backside-illuminated design to improve clarity and image quality when working in dimly-lit conditions as well as to increase its sensitivity to a native ISO 12,800. By completely placing the camera’s photodiodes over the sensor’s processing structure, the light-gathering ability of the Exmor RS CMOS sensor is further improved over previous backside-illuminated devices and faster image processing capabilities are added as well.
2. 4K – The Sony RX100 M4 records 4K videos and the most important part is XAVC S format is utilized to maximize high-bit rate shooting up to 100 Mbps for professional-quality video. The only imitation is the camera can record short 4K clips of up to five minutes, At resolutions below 4K, including Full HD 1920 x 1080p, movies up to 29 minutes in length can be saved.
3. 960 / 1000 fps – Now you can record super slow motion videos with your RX100 M4 camera, 960fps mode allows you to record up to 40x slower than real time… that’s more than enough for capturing every details of an action sequence. These slow motion clips are recorded at 960 fps, 480 fps, or 240 fps and can then be played back at 1920 x 1080, in 60p, 30p, or 24p, when the camera is set to NTSC. For PAL, slow motion clips are recorded at 1000 fps, 500 fps, or 250 fps and can then be played back at 1920 x 1080, in either 50p or 25p.
4. DRAM Chip – The high speed signal processing and DRAM memory chip work together to enable more than 5x faster readout of image data3 and are responsible for a variety of standout features that have previously been available in only a select few professional-level video cameras. These impressive capabilities include 40x super slow motion video capture at up to 960 fps4,5, an ultra-fast Anti-Distortion Shutter with a maximum speed of 1/32000 second, high resolution 4K movie shooting6 and more.
5. Anti-Distortion Electronic Shutter – With the introduction of electronic shutter the camera can now shoot upto 1/32,000 second, introduction of electronic shutter minimizes distortion caused by “rolling shutter”. The biggest advantage of having 1/32,000 shutter is You can easily capture properly exposed images @ F1.8 aperture during sunlight, This is achieved by a combination of the 1/32,000 second shutter speed and a built-in, three-stop ND filter which allows photos to be shot under extremely bright light at a maximum of EV19 with a fully open aperture setting.
The above mentioned are the 5 major improvement done by Sony in its recently announced RX100 IV camera, will you buy the new camera ? share your thoughts with us.

Sony today updated the ultra popular RX100 series with RX100 IV camera, the camera features newly developed stacked CMOS sensor with 20.2 MP resolution, the ISO ranges from 125-12800, the stacked sensor allows more light to get into the sensor resulting better low-light performance compared to its predecessor.
The Sony RX100 IV camera uses same 24-70mm lens with F1.8 aperture at wide-end and F2.8 aperture at tele-end, the new camera allows you to acquire continuous shooting speed of 16fps while maintaining the same resolution.
Introduction of electronic shutter in RX100 M IV, the RX100 IV camera uses mechanical shutter featuring a top shutter speed of 1/2,000 which is almost enough for all shooting condition, but wait an electronic shutter is also there to provide the ability to capture at 1/32,000 second.
Now let’s talk about the 4K video, the additon of 4K video to Sony RX100 IV camera is sure a milestone of success for Sony, the camera can now capture UHD 4K videos continuously for 5 min and super slow motion videos , XAVC S format is utilized to maximize high-bitrate shooting up to 100 Mbps for professional-quality video
The recently announced 4K compact camera from Sony features Built-in Wi-Fi and NFC, it enables instant transferring of images and videos to mobile devices for direct sharing online to social networking, via email, and to cloud storage sites. According to latest buzz floating over the web Sony RX100 M4 may arrive in June 2015. That’s look bit true to me since every year on the month of June Sony updates its RX100 series compact camera, So we do have a strong hope that this year also we will see the same trend from Sony.
The other major factor supporting this rumor is the leaked document of wikileaks, according to the document Sony will bring Sony A7R II, Sony A7000 and new compact RX series camera (possibly RX100 M4) this year.
We are getting constant information from various sources that the upcoming camera may pack 4/3 format sensor inside the RX100M 4 by maintaining the same size and shape as of the current RX100 M3 camera….. We also believe that it can be possible since Sony listed 2 new M4/3 sensor in their Product Line up page of US website on April 14th, 2015, so soon or later we are sure use the sensor in upcoming RX series compact camera… either RX100 series or a new one.
So finally we will a 4/3 sensor based compact camera that will capture high quality images and will also record 4K videos , a true competitor of the Panasonic LX100 camera.
