Press Release Tokina atx-m 56mm F1.4 X
Released “atx-m 56mm F1.4 X”, a portrait lens with a large aperture of F1.4 and a soft tone that takes film simulation into consideration.
Kenko Tokina Co., Ltd. (Headquarters: Nakano, Nakano-ku, Tokyo, President: Toru Yamanaka) has a large-diameter F1.4, soft-tone portrait lens “atx-m 56mm F1.4 X” that takes film simulation into consideration. It will be on sale from August 6, 2021. The suggested retail price is ¥ 62,000 (excluding tax).
Like the atx-m series X-mount lenses (23mm F1.4 X, 33mm F1.4 X) released so far, the Tokina atx-m 56mm F1.4 X is compact and lightweight that does not impair the advantages of mirrorless cameras. It is a lens.
Although it is a metal lens barrel that makes you feel “joy to have”, it has achieved a lightness of 315g and a compact filter size of 52mm.
Like the atx-m 23mm F1.4 X and atx-m 33mm F1.4 X, it is designed exclusively for APS-C mirrorless cameras, which does not impair the compactness and light weight that are the advantages of mirrorless cameras. Although it is a metal lens barrel that makes you feel the joy of holding it, it is about 300g light and has a compact filter size of 52mm.
Quiet and fast AF, also for movie shooting
By adopting STM (stepping motor), quiet, fast and accurate autofocus is realized. It is also suitable for shooting movies.
An aperture ring that does not click at the aperture stage is used for the lens barrel. You can intuitively operate the aperture and change the aperture at once when shooting a movie.
According to the latest rumors coming out from rumor mills, Canon is working on an entry-level full-frame Mirrorless camera expected to arrive sometime in 2022 with a price tag of less than $800.
TNCtake on this rumor
Well if it’s true then for sure, it’s great news. but, at the same time, we have Canon 90D which is available at $1199,(body only), and Canon M6 Mark II (body only) which cost you $849. and Canon T8i with kit cost $899
So, If Canon decides to announce a well-capable camera (with proper 4k video mode and still shooting capability), then for sure they will literally kill their own Mid-range and high-end APS-C lineup of cameras. So, for marketing point-of-view an under $1000 full-frame camera concept doesn’t look too feasible, even if it arrives it will have come cripple modes to save the APS-C Line-up sales.
