Canon R10 Mark II Rumors: 2026 Release Date, Specs, and FCC Insights

Canon R10 Mark II

One of the most important things that people want to know is when the Canon EOS R10 Mark II camera is actually coming. The question seems to be logical. Also, since the Canon EOS R10 is now as old as an R7 mirrorless camera, and the Canon EOS R7 was announced together on 24 May 2022.

But right now, we do have some strong rumours related to the Canon EOS R7 Mark II camera. The reason behind those rumours is a Canon FCC ID registration of a pro mirrorless camera, which seems to be highly identical to an APS-C flagship camera, considering the core specifications, the battery the camera is using and all that stuff.

So, the big question is actually when the R10 Mark II camera will arrive. Will it arrive before the R7 or after that? Let’s discuss it first.

Canon EOS R7 Mark II vs R10 Mark II: Which Comes First?

If you compare the two, then for sure, according to the recent FCC ID filing, the Canon R7 Mark II camera announcement looks more prominent. For now, no other FCC IDs have emerged till February 2026, so even if Canon registers a camera after March or April, the announcement is expected sometime in the second half of 2026.

During the DSLR time, the mid-range camera update cycle was approximately two years, and obviously, the flagship APS-C cameras were taking approximately four years of time. But right now, both the mid-range Canon EOS R10 and the Canon EOS R7 were announced approximately four years back. Due to uncertainty in the market and a bit lower demand for hybrid cameras, as people are putting more focus on video-oriented compact mirrorless solutions, as well as photographers preferring full-frame high-end hybrid cameras, in that context, it seems like Canon is about to update the Canon EOS R7 instead of the R10 for now.

FCC ID Analysis: No New Camera Filings Until February 2026

A key piece of evidence comes from FCC ID listings, which often foreshadow camera announcements. As of February 2026, Canon has no new “Digital Camera” registrations beyond the December 17, 2025, filing for AZD260 (model code DS126933 / HVIN DS126933). This filing is widely linked to the Canon EOS R7 Mark II, thanks to leaked certification documents from UL Verification Services.

  • Recent FCC Entries:
    • AZD260: Digital Camera (Dec 17, 2025) – Tied to the R7 Mark II.
    • AZD30387-2: Wireless LAN Module (May 15, 2025) – For Wi-Fi/Bluetooth integration.
    • AZD30400: Wireless LAN Module (Mar 13, 2025) – Similar module for host products.

The absence of fresh camera-specific FCC IDs suggests that if Canon registers a new one in early 2026 (e.g., February or March), the Canon EOS R10 Mark II announcement wouldn’t hit until Q4 2026 or later. FCC certifications typically require 3-6 months of lead time for testing and disclosure

Expected Specs for Canon EOS R10 Mark II

Since there has been a lot of delay in the mid-range level series camera, Canon EOS R10, we are now expecting a bigger jump in the core specifications of the upcoming camera. While official details are under wraps, Canon EOS R10 Mark II specs rumours point to evolutionary upgrades rather than revolutionary changes.

Let’s discuss what we are expecting from Canon R10 Mark II

  • Sensor: Expected to reuse the 32.5MP APS-C sensor from the original R7, ensuring sharp images without the premium price tag.
  • Performance: Faster continuous shooting mechanical up to 15 fps, improved autofocus, and enhanced video capabilities, but no in-body image stabilisation (IBIS) or weather sealing to keep it compact and budget-friendly.
  • Design: Retains the single card slot and lightweight body of the R10, ideal for entry-level users upgrading from DSLRs.
  • Other Features: Better battery life, 4K video improvements, and seamless integration with Canon’s RF-S lenses.
  • That’s what we are least expecting from R10 Mark II, since the competitors like A6700 and ZV-E10 II now using 26 MP APS-C BSI CMOS sensor, it seems to be quite an bit logical update from the existing 24 MP sensor.

Why the Delay? Canon’s 2026 Strategy Explained

It all depends upon the Canon marketing team. It was quite obvious that the entry-level models, the Canon EOS R50 and the Canon EOS R100, were taking over the market (July 2025) even in the USA. We have reported several times that the R50 is leading the market, so without a doubt, the R10 camera sales are not at that point. It is better to say the market response wasn’t as strong, and that’s why they have intentionally delayed the updates.

If a series becomes more popular, they are going to add more variants and obviously schedule updates to it. For example, the R50 series now has the Canon EOS R50V, and possibly this year or next year, we will have the R50 Mark II. But again, it all depends on market popularity and sales. If a model doesn’t perform as much as expected, then it gets delayed.

Other than that, that is the only reason why a camera maker decides to delay or discontinue a model.

Not only the name of the camera in the list we have also included the leaked specs, potential pricing, comparisons to predecessors, and strategic analysis of each information based on logic and facts. All info is speculative here, but at the very end, we have to say that Canon loves surprises.

Canon R7 II

1. Canon R7 Mark II

The Canon R7 Mark II camera announcement is also due. As per the latest rumors, As per the latest reports, the announcement date has been delayed and is now shifted to the first half of 2026. So, this is not the first time we have been getting the news, Canon R7 Mark II is delayed. The post that we published back on August 29, 2025, where we already dug out some of the core specifications expected to arrive inside the Canon R7 Mark II camera. We very clearly wrote in bold letters, even in the main image, that the R7 Mark II camera is expected to arrive sometime in 2026, specifically in the first or second quarter.

Canon R7 Mark II Specification [Expectations]

  • 32.5MP Stacked APS-C CMOS Sensor

2. Canon R3 Mark II

The Canon R3 was announced back in September 2021, one of the cameras that introduced Eye/Iris Control AF and that has impressed everyone as a flagship camera. The price is way too high, costing around $5999, specifically built for wildlife, sports, events, and photojournalism.

Rumours have started recently related to Canon R3 mark II camera arrival, since Canon does have a history of Olympic-tied flagship announcements. So for this time, we are expecting Canon to update its oldest flagship sports camera, the Canon R3.

Canon R3 Mark II Sensor and Resolution

  • Global Shutter Tease?: Is Canon testing out Global shutter sensors for Canon R3 Mark II? Although the global shutter sensor isn’t a new thing for Canon. But yes, source has cancelled out the possibilities of an High Res Stacked CMOS sensor inside the Canon R3 Mark II camera, the sensor is said to be Inspired by Sony’s A9 III, some speculate a global shutter variant to eliminate rolling shutter distortion in action shots, boosting high-ISO performance (clean files above 12,800 ISO, per user feedback on the original R3).

Not only Canon R3 Mark II, but also some chattrings about Canon R1 MkII Camera arrival with a global shutter sensor

Processor and Performance

  • DIGIC X Mark II: DIGIC X was first announced on January 6, 2020. As of December 11, 2025, it is approximately 5 years and 11 months old (or nearly 6 years). It debuted in the Canon EOS-1D X Mark III, Canon’s flagship professional DSLR at the time. It’s really a shame for Canon to still use the same 6 year old procesor in all their Flagship camera without any update or upgrade. In the meantime, they have added an AI chip, named Digic accelerator to handle AI based task. But, the image processor remains the same; we do believe the Canon R3 Mark II will bring out a new image processor in the Canon lineup.

Autofocus and Viewfinder

  • Eye-Control AF 2.0: Building on the original’s magic, with deeper AI for subject detection in chaotic scenes—sports, birds-in-flight, you name it.
  • EVF Upgrade: A 5.76M-dot OLED like the R1, but tuned for the gripped form factor.

Video Capabilities

  • Leaks are quiet here, but expect 6K/120p raw internals, with pro codecs for filmmakers doubling as stills shooters.

Release Date and Pricing

  • Timeline: February 2026 announcement for Milan Olympics coverage, with shipping by spring. Miss this window? It might evaporate, per skeptics. Canon Rumors pegs Q1 alongside lenses, aligning with Phoblographer’s intel.
  • Pricing: Expect a bump to $6,500–$7,000 body-only, positioning it between the R5 II ($3,899) and R1. Bundles with RF 400mm f/2.8 or similar could sweeten Olympic deals.

3. Canon R10 Mark II

Canon R10 was announced back in May 2022, if we look back at DSLR time, Canon was updating the mid-range Rebel series every 1.5 – 2 years, so we are expecting the Canon R10 Mark II camera to arrive sometime in Q4 of 2025, but unfortunately it has been delayed, still we are ecpecting its arrivel sometime in late December 2025 or Q1 of 2025. As per the previous set of rumors we have related to the Canon R10 Mark II camera, it will use the same sensor as we have seen in the Canon R7 Camera, with almost the same core specs we have witnessed in the Canon R7. Although the body design and card slot options will remain the same as of the Canon R10.

Canon R10 Mark II Rumored Specification

  • 32.5MP APS-C CMOS Sensor
  • Dual Pixel CMOS AF II
  • 4K60 10-Bit Video, HDR-PQ (NO lOG)
  •  15 fps Mech. Shutter
  • 2.36m-Dot OLED EVF
  • 1.6m-Dot Vari-Angle Touchscreen LCD
  • Sensor-Shift 5-Axis Image Stabilization
  • Single SD Card Slot
  • Multi-Function Shoe, Wi-Fi, and Bluetooth

Let’s hope Canon won’t disappoint us more or keep us just waiting and waiting, as a mid-range Mirrorless camera, the Canon R10 has overaged and requires a quick replacement from Canon.

5. Canon Retro Styled Camera – inspired by AE-1

To celebrate the 50th anniversary of the legendary Canon AE-1 (1976–2026), Canon is preparing a nostalgic full-frame mirrorless camera. We may see a Canon retro-style camera competing with Nikon ZF or Zfc cameras shortly. Yes, it is possible since during an interview, when the interviewer asked about the possibility of a Canon retro film-style camera, a Canon representative said there is a significant number of people who really love film cameras and the more vintage look. Therefore, there is a possibility that Canon will address those needs from the industry.

Canon Retro Styled Camera Major Features

  • Body Design – Very Similar to Canon AE-1.
  • Full-frame or APS-C sensor, rumored 24MP.
  • Vari-angle display screen, focus on photographic features rather than video.
  • Possible Kodak film simulations and vintage-style lenses.

This indicates that Canon is considering a retro-style camera in its lineup. The rumor is not new; before this interview, we published a rumor back on March 11th, 2024, According to the rumor

Early prototypes of to be announced Canon retro camera design are inspired by the image above (Canon QL 17 G Mark 3). One of the early prototypes is said to feature a full 24-megapixel CMOS sensor and a vari-angle display screen. Not only full frame there is which possibility that an APSC sensor-based retro camera is also under development. We do not have any Fixed time for the announcement of these retro-style cameras they are still under test and in the prototype stage. So if we expect it to arrive too early then it would be somewhere between the end of 2024 are the beginning first quarter of 2025

So, that is the latest set of information we have related to Canon’s upcoming retro-style camera.

6. Canon SX750 HS and G7 X Mark IV – 2026 Expected Release

Latest rumors suggest that Canon may revive its compact series again. Apart from the V series, which is already active, they will put their focus on one of the most popular compacts of all time—the SX740 HS and G7 X Mark III. The successors are expected to arrive between March and September 2026.

  • Canon SX750 HS – is expected to arrive next year—that is, in 2026. You’d like to see an improved sensor, core specifications, as well as a more powerful zoom lens added to the camera. We are expecting a major update in the core specs,
  • Canon PowerShot G7 X Mark IV – The Canon G7 X Mark III is undoubtedly one of the most popular compact cameras from Canon. Even after the arrival of the Canon V1, the demand for the G7 X series remains constant, and people are buying the G7 X Mark II and Mark III models at higher price tags. Stock shortages, worldwide high demand—this all makes Canon reactivate the series once again.

Specification-wise, we obviously expect a 1-inch sensor inside the G7 X Mark IV compact camera. But this time, you’d love to see Dual Pixel CMOS autofocus for faster focusing and 4K recording up to 60FPS.

7. Canon V3 – Large Sensor Compact Zoom

According to the latest rumors coming from the rumor mill, Canon is rumored to announce the Canon V3 camera, very similar to the Canon G3 X high-quality super zoom compact camera. It will carry forward the same sensor that we have seen in the Canon V1 camera—the 1.4-inch 22.4 MP sensor and an optical zoom lens.

Canon V3 Specifications

  • 1.4-inch, 22.4MP sensor. (Same sensor as Canon V1)
  • Optical zoom lens.
  • Built-in electronic viewfinder (EVF).
  • Photography-oriented design with deep hand grip, robust build, and no side vents.

The camera is expected to arrive in the first half of 2026.

8. Canon V10 Mark II

Canon generally updates its compact cameras in one or two years; that’s the update cycle it generally keeps with its compact cameras. The Canon V10 was announced back in May 2023, and now, in May 2025, it will complete the two-year mark of its announcement date, and hence, it will become eligible for an update.  The Canon V10 Mark II is expected to arrive in Q1 of 2026 (if everything goes as scheduled inside Canon). The upcoming camera will have a subtle update in the core specifications.

Expected Upgrades for the Canon V10 Mark II

  • 24.2MP 1″ CMOS Sensor
  • UHD 4K up to 60 fps
  • Full HD up to 120 fps:
  • Dual Pixel CMOS AF II: Advanced autofocus system for accurate subject tracking in video and live streaming.
  • Web Camera Compatibility with UVC Support: Seamless use as a webcam for live streaming.
  • 1.04M-Dot 2.5″ Articulating Touchscreen LCD: Larger and higher-resolution screen with full articulation for easier framing in different orientations.
  • Wi-Fi 6 & Bluetooth 5.2
  • Vertical Video Capture with Auto Orientation
  • Built-in adjustable Stand with 180° Range
  • Improved Battery Life
  • USB-C Charging & Power Delivery

The Canon V10 Mark II Core Specification is based on our expectations, not a rumored core specification of the camera.

9. Canon Modular Cameras for 180° and 360° VR Video

Canon prototypes of 180-degree and 360-degree-based cameras and the initial prototypes were displayed in Yokohama, Japan (2023). These cameras are multi-purpose cameras able to record 3D 360 spatial videos too for Apple Vision PRO. We are waiting for their official announcement in 2025.

10. Canon V100 – Canon Vlogging Camera with a Large sensor

Canon next next-generation vlogging camera patent surfaced in Canon patents as you can see in the image above, the design being shown in the patent is slightly different from the existing Canon V10 camera. Also, the sensor area shown in the figure resembles an APS-C sensor instead of a 1-inch sensor being used in the Canon V10 camera, take a look at the images below

Canon V1 / V100 Expected Specification

  • 24.2MP APS-C CMOS Sensor
  • DIGIC X Image Processor
  • Dual Pixel CMOS AF II
  • 4K30 Video, 4K60 with Crop;
  • HDR-PQ
  • IBIS (Enhanced EIS+ IBIS + OIS for Video)
  • Background Defocus
  • Face Priority AE
  • Movie for Close-Up Demos Mode
  • Vertical Movie Mode
  • Directional Capsule Mic and Windscreen
  • 15 fps E. Shutter
  • No EVF
  • 1.04m-Dot Vari-Angle Touchscreen LCD
  • Wi-Fi and Bluetooth

Canon will surely expand its V- V-series vlogging cameras in 2025-26, since they are in very high demand and people are waiting for a direct competitor of Sony ZV-series of cameras.

11. Canon Vision Pro – Virtual Reality Headset

Just like Apple Vision PRO, Canon is also working towards its range of VR headsets, as usual, the VR headset is different from Canon MREAL X2,  We all know that Canon is in partnership with Apple, as they are making special spatial Lenses for their Apple Vision PRO, and their content can be directly used on Apple iPhone platforms and the VR headset for augmented reality purposes. You can read the Full patent details here

When the Canon Vision Pro is Coming

as usual Camera makers like Canon take 2-3 years, once their patent is published, they do extensive research and testing beofre the announce the commerical version of the product. So, we can expect it sometime in 2026.

12. Canon Hands-Free Vlogging Compact Camera

Canon is also working on Hands hands-free vlogging camera, as you can see the cylindrical style camera can rotate up to 360 with a large display attached to the rear side of the camera. The Display part can be stuck to smooth surfaces like Glass windows it’s very clearly mentioned in the patent. I am very much impressed by the design of the camera and let’s hope we will see the announcement of such a camera soon from Canon.

One more closer image of the camera

Canon future vlogging compact camera, The camera features a brand new moveable cylindrical camera unit that detects and tracks human + body face very effectively. The rear side of the camera we have a Display unit which is used for customization of camera basic settings.

13. Canon Patent Neckband Style Camera

The concept is truly unique, and it will assist content creators in producing videos without exerting too much effort in holding their camera and creating content. more about the patent details here

14. Canon V1 – Fullframe Vlogging Camera [Patent/concept design]

The Next full-frame vlogging camera that surfaced from the patent may use the Canon R8 Sensor and compact gimbal-style design. The overall design is very unique and advanced. But this patent was done by Canon back in 2020. Maybe their marketing team is waiting for the right time to announce such a product; otherwise, it will become a product without any direct competitor on the Row. We all know what happened with the Sony DSC R1 camera, it was an APS-C style compact camera announced back in Sep 2016 by Sony. But, at that time, people were not ready for that type of advanced camera, nor were Canon or Nikon able to put a direct competitor out, so Sony never announced the next version of the same. Similarly, I think Canon’s marketing team is waiting for the right time. 165

Canon R7 Mark II Delayed to 2026

Canon R8V: Specification, Arrival Date, and Price Expectations

Canon Registered one More Model - DS126936 - July 2025 Update

Canon upcoming model codes 2025

Canon has registered one more camera today, with the model code DS126936. As per the initial specifications, the camera resembles an entry-level model — either the full-frame Canon R8V or an APS-C line update, or the Canon R10 Mark II. Canon R10 was announced back in May 2022, due for an update

Canon updated the list of model codes in July 2025

    • DS126922: EOS R5 II (Dual-band Wi-Fi 6 & Bluetooth)
    • DS126928: EOS R1 (Dual-band Wi-Fi 6 & Bluetooth)
    • DS126941: EOS R50 V (Dual-band Wi-Fi 5 & Bluetooth)
    • DS126904: PowerShot V1 (Dual-band Wi-Fi 5 & Bluetooth)
    • ID174: Unknown (Dual-band Wi-Fi 5)
    • ID179: Unknown (Dual-band Wi-Fi 5)
    • ID0814: Unknown (Dual-band Wi-Fi 5)
    • DS126916: Unknown (Dual-band Wi-Fi 5)
    • DS126936: Unknown (Dual-band Wi-Fi 5 & Bluetooth, in line with EOS R50V, EOS R8)

All the registered cameras support 2.4 gigahertz and 5.1 gigahertz Wi-Fi modules inside them. The cameras starting with DS represent mirrorless cameras or high-end compacts, and the cameras starting with ID are the cinema cameras from Canon.

The newly registered camera DS126936 has wireless specifications very similar to the R50 V and the Canon R8 camera, so it is expected that we may see the successor of the Canon R8 — the R8 V camera — which we have already discussed the specs of in our previous article. Also, there is also high possibility of the arrival of Canon R10 Mark II, since it has already been 2+ years since the original camera and it is completely outdated.

In May 2025, Canon already registered two more cameras, as we all know, when a camera maker like Canon does a registration, they take at least three months to make the product official, so the May 2025 registered model codes are expected to arrive in the last week of Aug and early September 2025

Canon Registered 2 Cameras in May 2025

Earlier, Canon registered two new cameras in May 2025. In that post, we have very clearly written that we expect a Canon announcement sometime in the 4th Week of August or Early September 2025.

This is what we have already said in the May 2028 Post

Some EOS or Cinema EOS cameras are planned for the future, and may be announced in the coming months. Rumor has it that they will be the Canon R6 Mark III or EOS R7 Mark II, but as we can see here, Canon is preparing for only one Consumer Mirrorless camera and the other is Cinema EOS.

Canon Camera Announcement in the 4th Week of August or Early September 2025

Canon registered both cameras in the 4th week of May 2025, roughly the camera maker takes 3 months to make it official, so expect a Canon announcement sometime in the 4th Week of August or Early September 2025.

When will DS126936 arrive? [July Registration]

Based on the Canon Announcement pattern and the time of announcement, the DS126936 is expected to arrive sometime in 1st week of November 2025. Canon will take at least three months of time to its safe to assume after the Aug/Sep Announcement, the next announcement from Canon is expected to happen sometime in November 2025.

Canon R8V: Specification, Arrival Date, and Price Expectations

The Vlogging Camera of the Future?

Canon Upcoming APS-C Camera 2025

List of APS-C Camera published by rumor mill that we may see in the year 2025, now in 2024, we have seen some amazing full-frame camera announcements, but yeah, we are still waiting for the updates on major APS-C models that include the Canon R7 as well as the Canon R10. So let’s discuss the set of possible updates that we may see next year.

So the list starts with the Canon R7 Mark II camera. We already have the Canon R7 camera with a 32.5 MP sensor, but the rumor mill expects a 32.5 MP stacked CMOS sensor inside the upcoming Canon R7 Mk II. BTW, if ur a reader of our website you have noticed that we have already discussed the spec sheet of the upcoming Canon R7 Mark II camera, Let’s see again the particular specs that we expect to be inside the upcoming R7 Mark II camera below. If you wish to know more, click here.

Canon R7 Mark II Specification [Expectations ]

  • 32.5MP Stacked APS-C CMOS Sensor
  • Dual Pixel CMOS AF II
  • 4K 120p 10-Bit Video, HDR-PQ & C-Log 3
  • External 6K ProRes RAW Recording
  • 40 fps E. Shutter, 15 fps Mech. Shutter
  • Sensor-Shift 5-Axis Image Stabilization
  • 3.69 m-Dot OLED EVF
  • 1.6m-Dot Vari-Angle Touchscreen LCD
  • Sensor-Shift 5-Axis Image Stabilization
  • Dual UHS-II Memory Card Slots
  • Multi-Function Shoe, Wi-Fi and Bluetooth

The next camera that the rumor mill discusses is the Canon R10 Mark II camera. Although we were expecting the arrival of the Canon R10 Mark II camera in Aug -Sep 2024. Even rumor mills expect that the same 32.5 MP sensor that we have seen in the Canon R7 body will arrive inside the R10 Mark II body. Again, this is not something new, we have already published the set of specs that we expect from the Canon R10 mark II camera

Canon R10 Mark II Rumored Specification

  • 32.5MP APS-C CMOS Sensor
  • Dual Pixel CMOS AF II
  • 4K60 10-Bit Video, HDR-PQ (NO lOG)
  •  15 fps Mech. Shutter
  • 2.36m-Dot OLED EVF
  • 1.6m-Dot Vari-Angle Touchscreen LCD
  • Sensor-Shift 5-Axis Image Stabilization
  • Single SD Card Slot
  • Multi-Function Shoe, Wi-Fi, and Bluetooth

The main reason why it should have a 32.5 MP sensor (non-stacked version) is the arrival of a 26 MP sensor inside, Sony’s ZV-E10 Mark II camera arrived with 26 MP BSI CMOS Sensor, as well as the arrival of a 40 MP sensor inside Fuji X-T50 Camera. You can see all the existing competitors scaling up their resolution, so if Canon fails to do so, they will surely face a big hit in their sales, which they are already experiencing, so again if they fail to do so, they will have to face the expected consequences.

Now, this is something unique, as we have not yet discussed the Canon R50 Mark II camera. Rumors suggest that we may see the Canon R50 Mark II camera next year (Aug- Sep 2024). Although they are not very specific about the specs of the R50 Mark II camera. Now, what we are expecting right now is a smooth transition of Canon R10 specs inside the Canon R50 Mark II next year, and similarly, the R7 specs will have a smooth transition inside the R7 Mark II. That’s how the industry works, and that’s what we should see next year.

Canon R50 Mark II Expected Core Specification

  • 24.2MP APS-C CMOS Sensor
  • Dual Pixel CMOS AF II
  • 4K30 Video, 4K60 with Crop; HDR-PQ
  • 1.04m-Dot Vari-Angle Touchscreen LCD
  • Multi-Function Shoe, Wi-Fi and Bluetooth

The next rumor we are getting is about the Canon R200 camera. Again, Canon can’t announce the R200, instead, they will pick the R100 Mark II name, a. But even before that, we are expecting the arrival of the Canon V100 camera, which is a bit more vlogging-centric and without an electronic viewfinder. So that’s what we are expecting right now from Canon. It will be very interesting to see what Canon unfolds in front of us in the upcoming months, as we are eagerly waiting with high curiosity to see what’s coming next.

Breaking News: Canon Registers one more Camera

Canon has registered one more camera at a wireless certification agency, and the model code of the camera is DS 126904. It’s amazing to see that Canon has planned one more camera for the year-end.

List of Canon Upcoming Cameras

  • ID174 registered on April 19, 2024 with Dual-band Wi-Fi 5. [Cinema Camera]
  • ID179 registered on February 4, 2024 with Dual-band Wi-Fi 5. [Cinema Camera]
  • DS126922 registered on February 4, 2024 with Dual-band Wi-Fi 6& Bluetooth. [Mirrorless Camera]
  • DS126928 registered on March 29, 2024 with Dual-band Wi-Fi 6& Bluetooth. [Mirrorless Camera]
  • DS126904 registered on April 26, 2024 with Dual-band Wi-Fi 5& Bluetooth. [Mirrorless Camera]

Now we have many possibilities since Canon looks very aggressive with its announcement schedule, and they already have plans for the Canon R5 Mark II, Canon R1, and Canon R5C Mark II. The next camera could be an APS-C camera or a full-frame camera.

Canon R7 Mark II

Canon’s first APS-C Camera with a Stacked CMOS sensor, Yes, we do have expectations related to Canon R7 Mark II in 2024, Canon R7 was announced back on May 24, 2022. uses a normal FSI CMOS sensor used by Canon 90D Camera with a sensor readout speed of 29.2ms and it needs an update asap. As we all know Canon do have stacked CMOS sensor tech in their hand and there is high possibility that Canon may introduce wither a 32.3 MP stacked CMOS Sensor in Canon R7 Mark II body with the latest BSI Tech.

Canon R9 or Canon R10 Mark II

There is a big possibility we may see a true replacement of the Canon 90D camera. We have a gap between the Canon R6 and Canon R7 cameras. As we all know, we have APS-C cameras like the Sony A6700 [26MP]. We are going to have the Fuji X-T50 camera with a 40MP high-resolution APS-C sensor, so there is a high probability that Canon will release a high-resolution camera. We have one name slot left in the R series, and that’s the Canon R9. So, we have a big chance of getting Canon R9 at the year-end. Another option with an APS-C model is the Canon R10 Mark II arrives in Aug-Sep with a 32.3 MP sensor and upscaled core specification.

Canon R8 Mark II

In the full-frame zone, we already have a bunch of cameras that were announced not too long ago. Even the Canon R8 was announced back in Feb 2023 and it is selling very well. So, expecting a Canon R8 Mark II camera in the year of 2024 will be something that we least expect from Canon in 2024.

Canon R10 Mark II Coming on August 2025

I am receiving a lot of questions from my subscribers about when the Canon R10 Mark II camera will arrive. Many of them are interested in purchasing the camera but are a bit worried that if the successor arrives in the next 2 to 3 months, it would be better for them to wait.

Canon R10 Mark II Coming on August 2025 [Expectation]

To a point, I am really surprised that Canon R7 II is coming but we still have no information related to Canon R10 which is due for an update. Although it’s not a direct replacement for Canon 90D, but even if we consider it as a replacement of Canon  90D

Table: Canon Mid-Range DSLR and Relevant Mirrorless Release Dates

Model Release Year Notes
EOS 7D 2009 Mid-range DSLR, 18MP, enthusiast-focused
EOS 70D 2013 Mid-range DSLR, 20MP, Dual Pixel AF
EOS 80D 2016 Mid-range DSLR, 24MP, improved AF
EOS 90D 2019 Mid-range DSLR, 32.5MP, 4K video
EOS R10 2022 APS-C mirrorless, 24.2MP, entry-mid range
EOS R7 2022 APS-C mirrorless, 32.5MP, higher-tier

Either both the cameras the Canon R7 Mark II and Canon R10 Mark II, but technically Canon should update the R10 before the R7 II. It clearly shows that nowadays camera makers are more inclined towards the R&D and announcements of vlogging-centered cameras and they are paying very little attention to HYBRID shooters

Canon R10 Mark II will feature a 32.5MP APS-C CMOS Sensor

Now, what do we expect from the Canon R10 Mark II camera? It depends on market competition, not on our expectation list.

So, it depends on competitors, let’s discuss the two possible situations we have for Canon R10 mark II

  1. Since we already have the Sony A6700 camera with a 26-megapixel APS-C CMOS sensor, there are strong rumors that the upcoming Sony ZVE10 Mark II camera will carry forward the same sensor at an affordable price tag. If by any chance Nikon announces the Z50 Mark II sometime in the first or second quarter of 2024 with a higher resolution sensor, then Canon will surely use its 32.5-megapixel APS-C CMOS sensor from the Canon R7 in the Canon R10 Mark II camera.
  2. Otherwise, if the Nikon Z50 Mark II camera arrives with the same 20-megapixel CMOS sensor and even if the Sony Z10 Mark II arrives with a subtle update without having a higher resolution sensor, in that scenario, Canon will also move with its traditional 24 MP sensor and an updated image processor. So, it all depends on the market competition. If the level of competition rises, Canon will move in that direction as they already have the sensors.

Let me know what you expect from the upcoming Canon R10 mark II camera, we will bring out more information as soon as we get it.
