We have done a specification comparison between Canon 1200D and Canon 100D, the Canon 1200D is a entry level camera and a successor of Canon 1100D, on the other hand the 100D / SL1 is a entry level camera and sit just above Canon 1200D / T5. As we clearly see that Canon Sl1 have better core specification compared to Canon 1200D, the sensor of Canon SL1 / 100D is also better since it features more ISO range and also have phase AF pixels within it so the 100D can do Movie Servo AF feature for smooth and quiet continuous autofocus during video recording.
Canon 100D / SL1 More ISO range will give you better low light images compared to Canon 1200D / T5.
Canon 100D / SL1 features better Touch LCD display unit, the 100D allows you to focus and shoot your image with a single click.
Verdict: The Canon 1200D will cost you $100 less than Canon 100D, but based on specification comparison review we recommend you to buy Canon 100D / SL1.
