Insta360 CEO Accidentally Revealed TWO Upcoming Cameras in One Shot!

Dive deep into the latest leaked image by the Insta360 CEO. The big thing — the elephant in the room — that everyone has noticed is the white camera that you see in the frame, with a lot of physical controls above the display screen. You can clearly see two buttons where you can switch from video to photo mode, along with a few additional physical buttons.

The CEO and founder of Insta360 is Jingkang Liu, often referred to as JK Liu posted an teaser image of his upcoming cameras in his Chinese social media account webio

Take a look at the First Camera: Insta360 Upcoming cameras #1

Yes, we are talking about the main white camera that you see on the screen (below). The camera being held by a single right hand features a large display screen with a lot of physical controls over the display unit. Also, the most important part of this leaked image is the notes, display screen, settings, and controls; the controls on the display screen closely resemble the Insta360 Ace Pro series cameras’ controls. Obviously, just after posting this image, deep speculation started about whether Insta360 is working on a fixed-lens compact camera. Since you can see the f/1.8 marking, most probably, they will start entering the fixed-lens compact camera segment later. They may also join the interchangeable-lens mirrorless camera system in the future.

Promising Features of the New Insta360 Compact Camera

But the camera looks very, very promising, potentially having a larger-format sensor, maybe a Micro Four Thirds sensor or APS-C. We do not know at the moment, but this is a completely new physical camera, and none of our team members can identify the model name, that’s cleary hints it a kinda of brand new prototype he his holding. Most of the white cameras we have seen till now are from Sony, and Sony cameras do not have such physical controls. Not only that, the display screen icons highly resemble the Insta360-style UI, which we generally see in the Pro series cameras. So this is a completely brand-new thing.

Hidden Gem: The Pixelated Insta360 Pocket Series Camera

Apart from this, the picture that the camera has captured includes something that almost no one noticed, and this is what we are discussing right now on TheNewCamera.com. The pixelated or intentionally blurred image that you see is of the upcoming Insta360 Pocket series camera, which we already showed you a few days ago, thanks to our sources who shared very clear images of the camera.

One thing is for sure: we have already done a detailed analysis of the upcoming pocket series camera from Insta360, with some exclusive leaked images.

The Hidden Gem – The Pixelated camera in the screen is actually the upcoming Insta360 pocket camera

CEO’s Intentional Tease for Insta360 Pocket Camera Launch

But the big hint related to the Insta360 Pocket camera is that the Insta360 CEO intentionally blurred and pixelated the Insta360 Pocket camera that you see in the frame. Most probably, he intended to showcase both of his gems — one in prototype format, and the other being the Insta360 Pocket camera, which is ready to be announced. Most likely, Insta360 Pocket will arrive in February or March 2026. Although we do not have any authentic information related to a compact camera with a large display, btw both of them captured By using his iPhone 15 Pro.

These are the latest updates related to the leaked image by the CEO. A lot of websites are confused about which camera to focus on, and many websites remain limited in analyzing the camera the CEO is holding, while not talking about the pixelated camera, which is very clearly visible on the screen.

We have done a detailed analysis of both, and let’s hope and expect more in the future. As soon as we get any update related to these cameras, we will post it here on TheNewCamera.com.

Can You Buy DJI Drones in the USA? The Ban Explained – The Best DJI Drones Still Legal in the USA

DJI Action 7: Expected Release Date, Price, Specs, Rumors, and Everything We Know So Far (2026 Update)

DJI Pocket 4 Warehouse Inventory Leak: Reveals Kits, Hints at Imminent Launch

The good news is that the DJI Pocket 4 stock has now reached major retailers in China, and they have the entire list of the new Osmo Pocket 4 series cameras in their inventory. The same screenshot was leaked by one of the most trusted sources today.

The wait for the DJI Osmo Pocket 4 might be shorter than expected. A fresh DJI Osmo Pocket 4 leak from trusted leaker Igor Bogdanov (@Quadro_News) has surfaced, showing a warehouse app screenshot wit detailed listing stocked bundles DJI Pocket 4 camera and accessories.

Direct matches from the screenshot:

  • “Handheld gimbal Osmo Pocket 4 Amazon set OP-041” (listed twice—possibly duplicates or variants).
  • “Handheld gimbal Osmo Pocket 4 standard set OP-041” (listed twice).
  • “Digital camera Osmo Action 6 Free shooting set ACO06” (listed twice).
  • “Handheld gimbal Osmo Pocket 4 all-around set OP-041/transmitter DMTo3” (listed twice).

What the DJI Osmo Pocket 4 Warehouse Leak Reveals

he app title (“Registered consignment”) and search prompt suggest it’s from a Chinese warehouse or supplier system, indicating stock preparation. This supports the article’s claim of “production ramping up,” but no other sources confirm this exact screenshot as a “fresh leak” today—@Quadro_News has shared similar prototype images before, but this is the first inventory-style one. Prior leaks from the same account focus on device photos, not stock lists.

“Amazon Kit,” “Standard Kit,” “All-in-One Kit with Transmitter DMTO3,” and Osmo Action 6 items align with the listed names. The “DMTO3 transmitter” is mentioned twice and speculated as a new wireless mic or remote—rumors support enhanced connectivity, but DMTO3 isn’t confirmed elsewhere.

Release Date and Pricing

Warehouse stock suggests an imminent release, aligning with leaks pointing to late Q1 2026 (February-March). Earlier rumors had a 2025 launch, delayed due to accessory issues. A separate “Pro” model might come later (April-June).

DJI Avata 360: Preorders Live with $999 Pricing

DJI Avata 360: Preorders Live with $999 Pricing

DJI Avata 360 is creating a lot of buzz, and it has been rising even more since the pre-order page popped up from authentic and unofficial retailers like US Drone Supply. We have attached the screenshot below, where you can clearly see the pre-order page going live, and the best part of these pages is that they revealed the pricing of the Avata 360 drone.

Now, one thing to be noted is that these pre-order pages mean the announcement may happen anytime soon. In general, what happens is DJI teases their products about a week before their official announcement. Yes, we are waiting for the teaser, and then obviously, we’re going to have the official announcement from DJI.

Let me tell you one thing just before this. We have decided to publish this coverage because, for publishing, we have received a lot of authentic content, and after a deep analysis, we decided to publish this. The pre-order-based pricing looks very authentic, as well as the images.

Now, apart from this, just before that, we were constantly getting rumors from different sources. Specifically, two new sources were pointing toward a first-week-of-February announcement of the Avata 360 drone. What does it mean? We don’t know. Yes, they may be telling the truth or not—we’re not sure about that until the announcement officially happens. But yeah, both new sources a few weeks back were pointing toward the first week of February 2026, and one source was very sure about February 5, 2026, as the date for the official arrival of the Avata 360 drone.

This is what we were getting just before this pre-order page went live.
Let’s analyze the pricing.

DJI Avata 360 Preorder Pricing and Bundles

Leaked Images Reveal a Cinewhoop-Style Design with 360-Degree Twists

In our January 8, 2026, post, we have also published fresh images that clearly show the DJI Avata 360 dual-mode action, where we can clearly see the camera module of the DJI 360 rotated to the front position to capture video from a single camera [DJI avata 360 in FPV Mode], and the controller display is veryclearly showcasing what the drone is capturing from singal camera module.

The drone is connected to a DJI RC controller (resembling the RC 2) via cable, displaying a live feed. It features a gray cinewhoop-style frame with full spherical propeller guards for safe indoor and proximity flying. Labels indicate DJI branding and an advanced transmission module, likely O4, for enhanced range.

Interestingly, the camera module in the image clearly shows a tiltable camera module, so that one of the lenses points forward. This suggests that the Avata 360 is not only intended as a 360-degree camera drone, but can also be used as a regular FPV drone, similar to the Avata 2. In that scenario, the pilot can simply operate with a forward-facing view during flight, as the existing.

second image displays the entire kit, where we have the battery charging hub and spare batteries. It looks like someone who purchased a kit of the Avata 360 drone just unboxed it in front and captured the image.

DJI Avata 360 Specifications: Blending FPV Agility with Spherical Capture

If the whispers from low-credibility forums and leak aggregators hold any water, the DJI Avata 360 could revolutionize hybrid drone usage. Key speculated features include:

  • 360-Degree Camera Integration: Dual 1/1.1-inch CMOS sensors, same as we have seen on the DJI Osmo 360, enabling 8K video recording and full spherical capture. And single lens mode while recording panoramic
  • Enhanced Transmission and Range: Likely featuring DJI’s O4 transmission system for improved signal stability and longer flight distances, making it suitable for both indoor cinematic shots and outdoor adventures.
  • Obstacle Avoidance and Smart Modes: Rumours suggest built-in obstacle sensing, a follow-me mode [with active tracking of moving subject], and automated flight paths, lowering the barrier for beginners while appealing to pros.
  • Battery and Flight Time Upgrades: An improved battery life over the Avata 2, potentially offering extended sessions for capturing high-res footage without frequent swaps.
  • Versatility for Creators: The drone might double as a standard FPV unit or a dedicated 360 camera, combining two devices into one compact form factor.

Release Date Speculations: February 2026 Announcement on the Horizon?

The reports that we received in the past were pointing toward a first-week-of-February 2026 announcement, and one of the new sources was very much confident about the February 5 date. Now, having said that, even though the pre-order pages are live, the fact is that there has been no teaser from DJI till now, which clearly means the announcement is still a few days away from now.

As we know, DJI generally posts teasers 3 to 4 days, or sometimes even 7 days, before the official announcement, and then they proceed with the final launch. So again, the website that listed the drone looks very credible, and they are also accepting pre-orders by charging a $99 early fee.

At the same time, we are again waiting for the final date of arrival, and as soon as we get any update regarding it, we will be posting it here on TheNewCamera.com.

List of Approved DJI Drones, Pocket Series Models, and Action Cameras: DJI USA Ban Update 2026

Best DJI Drones Under $500 in 2026: Expert Reviews, Comparisons, and Buying Guide

Exclusive Leak: Insta360 Pocket Camera Prototype Photos Revealed

Hold your breath, because this time you are going to witness the first look at the Insta360 Pocket camera. Extreme thanks to the source, who shared the images with me. Just a few days ago, we shared the Insta360 Pocket 360 camera patent with you guys, and just after that, we now have the prototype images of the upcoming camera.Well, the leaked prototype images for the first time confirm the key elements of the patent that we discussed earlier. The upcoming camera is a modular-style camera, where we can detach the camera unit, the display module, and the battery life of each module can be extended using an external attachable battery grip.

Other than that, in the frame, it is very clearly visible that we have interchangeable lens modules that can be attached and detached from the camera, making it suitable for every pro-level videography and content creation workflow.

Insta360 Pocket Leak: From Patents to Prototypes

This month, we already had a massive patent leak, and obviously, the details we are getting are suggesting a direct rival to the DJI Osmo Pocket 3, and potentially even the upcoming Pocket 4 camera, which we are continuously covering on the website.

The patent already describes a snap-together modular system camera, which means your handheld gimbal camera can be assembled in different parts, and you can detach the display and place the camera somewhere else while it is still working. And for sure, that’s the biggest advantage you are going to get with the Insta360 Pocket camera, which is far ahead of the DJI Pocket 3 / Pocket 4 that we have seen so far..

Now, these new leaked images – shared exclusively with TheNewCamera.com – show actual hardware components, moving beyond line drawings to tangible prototypes. Captured in a clean, white-background setting (likely a testing lab or early manufacturing stage), the photos reveal disassembled modules that align perfectly with the modular concept. This isn’t just speculation; it’s hard evidence that Insta360 is advancing toward a mid-2026 launch (Q2/Q3), potentially shaking up the vlogging camera market amid DJI’s reported delays.

Detailed Image Analysis: Breaking Down the Prototype Parts

Let time into details, and let’s frame my frame analysis of everything that we see in the image,  the image that we say is clear, dark grey colour / black, we have tried to analyse the details and their champ into the details

Multiple Camera Heads Confirmed in Prototype: Two Distinct Configurations Visible

This was a really big surprise, especially when we closely examined the image and all of our team members independently verified the same. We now have a very clear indication—maybe not 100% confirmed, but yes, it is feasible that two different camera heads are visible in the image.

The first camera head appears to be associated with the Insta360 Pocket 360 camera and does have a mechanical gimbal attached to it, which very clearly aligns with the DJI Osmo Pocket 3–style design.

Apart from that, on the left side of the image, we can see another camera head that looks noticeably heavier, possibly housing a larger sensor, likely a 1-inch sensor. This modular camera head does not have any moving parts associated with it and appears to be completely independent, using high-quality optics instead of mechanical stabilization.

This could indicate an early prototype version of the Insta360 Pocket series camera visible in the frame. At this moment, we do not know whether the Insta360 Pocket camera will launch with multiple camera heads or a single one, as it entirely depends on the company’s final production decision regarding which prototypes make it to the mass production line.

However, one thing is certain: if multiple camera heads are introduced, it would be a huge advantage for content creators, allowing them to choose the best configuration based on their personal shooting requirements.

Close inspection of the prototype parts reveals something even more revolutionary — Insta360 is developing two interchangeable camera heads: Compact Gimbal-Less Head with Leica Lens The Super-Elmar 1:2.8/21 lens is shown permanently (or semi-permanently) mounted on a small cubic sensor module with the flip-screen attached below. This creates an ultra-portable, pocketable camera without any gimbal — essentially a direct Leica-lens vlogging camera that fits in your pocket. Perfect for run-and-gun shooting, mounting, or when you don’t need stabilization. Gimbal Head (shown without lens) The separate 3-axis gimbal handle has a clear mounting interface at the top where the lens + sensor core snaps in. This allows you to take the exact same Leica-lens core from the non-gimbal version and attach it to the gimbal for stabilized shooting. This means users will be able to switch between two completely different form factors using the same lens/core module — again I have to say that its something DJI has never offered. It’s modular design taken to the extreme.

Speculations and Implications for Insta360 Pocket in 2026

Based on this leak and prior patents, here’s our educated guess on what the final Insta360 Pocket could offer:

  • Video Capabilities: 8K30fps 360° or 4K60fps standard, with Active HDR and PureVideo low-light modes (building on the Insta360 X5’s tech).
  • AI Features: Enhanced subject tracking [with the modular gimbal head], auto-editing via app, and 360° horizon lock for immersive content.
  • Competitive Edge vs DJI: Modular lenses (including Leica options) and Modular camera heads, if introduced, then for sure it will outshine DJI’s fixed camera module-based pocket 3 or pocket 4 camera.
  • Potential Drawbacks: Modularity might add complexity or weight, but the pocket-sized design mitigates this.
  • Release Timeline: Mid-2026 seems likely, although we are still waiting for confirmed date via trusted sources

These photos validate the patents, showing Insta360 isn’t just dreaming – they’re building. If authentic, this could redefine portable cameras, blending 360° innovation with vlogging practicality.

Top Drones Under $700 in 2026: DJI Alternatives and Budget Picks for Aerial Photography

Xtra ATTO Camera Leaked: A Rebranded DJI Osmo Nano? Specs, Price and Arrival Time

Well, DJI is finally preparing for its next series of announcements via Xtra Muse. Xtra US is not new in the United States of America. As DJI faces increasing tariffs and import challenges in the American market, Xtra Technology—a dynamic US startup—has stepped in with rebranded versions of DJI’s top innovations

Now, we have spotted the Xtra ATTO. This is said to be the newer version, or a carbon copy, of the DJI Osmo Nano, an ultra-portable camera specifically designed for content creation. It is made for creators who are constantly moving in and out, capturing content within their own creative space. In this article, we will explore the possible arrival time and price of Xtra ATTO in the United States of America.

What Is the Xtra ATTO Camera? A Deep Dive into Its Origins and Purpose

The Xtra ATTO Camera isn’t just another gadget. It is a strategic rebranding effort, specifically tailored for the US market. Now, the Xtra ATTO is officially categorized under listings that include cameras, wearable cameras, camera cases, mounts, head-mounted cameras, gimbals for digital cameras, and even 360-degree video cameras.

This strongly suggests a versatile nano-scale device, perfect for content creators, and it closely resembles the recently announced DJI Nano. This appears to be an upcoming body cam, or better described as a point-of-view (POV) camera, coming from the Xtra brand. We all know DJI’s video quality, and it should be more than sufficient, so the POV camera market is sure to heat up after the ATTO’s arrival.

The ATTO follows a very similar design pattern to what we have seen with the Nano, essentially being the “DJI Osmo Nano US version.” It is expected to share the same core specifications that we have seen inside the DJI Nano. Now, let’s explore the core specs of the camera.

The image was shared by one of our subscribers from China. He said the camera was there from Xtra Direct Store for a few moments, then it was quickly removed. However, he was successful in grabbing the screenshot.

Key Features and Specs: What Makes the Xtra ATTO Stand Out?

Based on Xtra’s lineup and DJI’s Osmo heritage, here’s what we anticipate for the Xtra ATTO Camera (subject to official confirmation):

Feature Expected Specs Benefits for Users
Sensor and Resolution 1/1.3″ Sensor Captures up to 4K60 Video Cinematic footage with low-light performance, ideal for vlogging and social media.
Stabilization 3-axis gimbal or electronic (EIS) Rock-steady shots during movement—perfect for hiking, biking, or dancing.
Design and Portability Nano-sized (under 150g), wearable/head-mounted options, modular mounts Fits in your pocket; palm takeoff/landing if hybrid drone elements are included.
Display OLED touchscreen Quick framing, vertical/horizontal modes for TikTok/Instagram.
Battery Life 200-Minute Battery Life, Fast Charging Extended shooting without frequent recharges.
Connectivity USB-C, app integration (compatible with DJI Mimo equivalents) Seamless editing and sharing.
Additional Modes Face/object tracking, 360-degree capture, low-light optimisation AI-driven features for effortless pro results.

How Does the Xtra ATTO Compare to the DJI Neo Drone?

As you can see from the specifications of the Xtra ATTO camera, it highly overlaps with the DJI Nano. Other than that, there is no issue with the DJI Nano right now—it is widely available, often with discounts. However, at the same time, the future is always unpredictable, so this appears to be a smart move by DJI to protect its camera lineup in a parallel way.

As we all know, DJI is continuously facing problems due to the ban issues in the USA and related complications. So even if DJI is not able to continue the Nano lineup directly, they will likely push follow-up updates and successors through the Xtra ATTO series.

Price and Availability

The Xtra ATTO Camera’s US price is unconfirmed but expected to range from $199-349, following Xtra’s affordable strategy. It is expected to be available in Q1 / Q2 2026, via xtra-us.com, Amazon, B&H, and Adorama.

Why Start with a Drone in 2026? The Sky’s the Limit

We are not talking about toys here. We are talking about serious tools for creators who really want to get the best out of their under $500 budget. You can use this information for now before we begin.

According to recent stats from the drone industry, more than 2 million recreational drones were registered in the United States of America last year. There are a lot of drones under $500 available on Amazon.com, which can easily confuse buyers about which drone to pick or buy.

Another big question is the ban issue. Most drones you see under $500 on Amazon.com or other stores in the United States are made in China. There are no American-made drones that are affordable enough to fit into the under $500 category. Because of this, almost all drone brands in this price segment are expected to face restrictions on announcing new drones in the United States in the coming years.

However, the drones that already exist are 100% legal to buy, and all the models listed here have FCC clearance. You can buy any of them without a second thought.

Highly Recommended Drone: DJI Mini 3 – The All-Rounder for Most Beginners

Why are we recommending the DJI Mini 3 on top? The DJI Mini 3 is a drone that can capture 4K HDR videos on the go, and it features a 48-megapixel sensor. This allows you to get highly detailed still images from the drone.

At the same time, you also get an extended 38 minutes of flight time on a single battery, which is really amazing, especially if you are shooting professional drone footage. The extended range and longer flight duration help a lot when you are working on serious projects or need consistent, uninterrupted shots.

At $335, it’s under 250g with 4K HDR, 38-min flights, and QuickShots. Recommended for: Outdoor enthusiasts, social media users, or learners wanting quality without overwhelm. Grounds: Superior battery/sensor over peers; “forgiving and fun,” say owners. Fly More Combo ($419) for pros.

Special Recommendation for Content Creators: DJI Neo 2

For social media content creators, it is highly recommended to go with the DJI Neo drone, especially for content creation and shooting solo videos using a drone. The DJI Neo is an excellent companion for creators.

Apart from that, it follows your gestures very easily, something that other drones like the DJI Mini 3 or Mini 4K are not able to do. So, if you are vlogging and at the same time want to capture yourself in a 360° environment, then you should definitely go with the DJI Neo.

It is one of the best and most advanced drones available in 2026, specifically designed for solo creators and hands-free shooting.

This section is specifically created for those who are confused between the DJI Mini 3, and DJI Mini 4K. We are receiving a lot of questions in our mailbox every day, such as: Which drone should I buy? Should I go with the DJI Mini 4K or the DJI Mini 3? Which drone is best for professional work? Which one is better for beginners? Which drone is better for capturing videos? and many more.

Because of these frequent questions, we have decided to publish an article like this to clear all the confusion and help you make the right buying decision.

Head-to-Head: DJI Mini 3 vs. Mini 4K – Which Wins for Beginners?

So technically, the DJI Mini 3 is better, and here is why. You are getting HDR-quality video in the DJI Mini 3, which is not available in the Mini 4K. Apart from HDR 4K video recording capability, you are also getting 38 minutes of flight time, which is again better than the Mini 4K.

Also, it is important to note that if you love to shoot images with your drone camera, you are getting 48-megapixel photo resolution compared to the 12MP resolution of the DJI Mini 4K.

So technically, the DJI Mini 3 is slightly better than the DJI Mini 4K. If your budget allows, then you should definitely go with the DJI Mini 3. When I talk about budget, I specifically mean if you are planning to buy the DJI Mini 3 Fly More Combo, which also includes the DJI RC controller. That package currently costs around $678.

On the other hand, the DJI Mini 4K Fly More Combo costs around $359, which is well under $500. As you can see, the Mini 3 Fly More Combo, which includes three extra batteries, a remote controller, and accessories, costs significantly more.

However, if you buy the DJI Mini 3 with a standard RC controller and one battery, the overall cost comes to around $409. So in the end, it is all about pricing. If you can stretch your budget slightly beyond $500 and want the Fly More Combo, then the DJI Mini 3 is the better option.

But if you are on a tight budget and still want everything included—such as three extra batteries, a controller, and the drone itself—then choosing the DJI Mini 4K is a smart decision.

Ultimately, it all depends on your budget.

Additional Notes for USA Buyers (2026 Update)

For American drone enthusiasts, both the DJI Mini 3 and DJI Mini 4K weigh under 250g, so no FAA registration is required for recreational flying. You only need to pass the free TRUST test and follow basic rules like maintaining line of sight and avoiding restricted airspace (for example, near airports or national parks like Yellowstone).

The Mini 3’s HDR video and longer flight time make it ideal for capturing vibrant sunsets or urban skylines, where low-light performance really matters. If you are shopping on Amazon or Best Buy, keep an eye on flash sales—as of mid-January 2026, the Mini 3 Fly More Combo has dropped to around $575 during discounts.

Always use the DJI Fly app to check real-time no-fly zones, and consider adding ND filters for professional-looking footage in bright US lighting conditions. If video editing is your focus, the Mini 3’s RAW photo support pairs very well with tools like Adobe Lightroom for post-processing.

Key Factors to Consider When Buying Your First Drone: A Beginner’s Checklist

Here, we are going to discuss a set of key factors that you should keep in mind before making a purchase. These factors are extremely important to understand before you make the final decision and say, “Yes, this is the drone I want.”

Before reaching that point, these important factors will strongly influence your decision in the right direction.

1. Ease of Use and Controls: No PhD Required

As a buyer, you have to research is whether the drone you are buying supports an app. But just supporting an app is not enough. You also need to check whether the app is user-friendly and whether it helps provide a seamless flying experience when you are controlling the drone from your smartphone.

First name that comes to mind when we talk about a good flying experience is DJI, especially apps like the DJI Fly app. Once you install it on your smartphone and connect it with the controller, you get an excellent flying experience on most of the new drones, especially those designed for content creators.

For example, the DJI Neo 2 features a LiDAR obstacle avoidance system, and despite that, it also supports gesture controls. This means you don’t need to hold your smartphone or controller. If you are vlogging with your camera, you just need to perform specific hand gestures to control the DJI Neo 2, and it can even land on your palm once the shooting is completed.

Nowadays, due to advanced AI integration, the overall flying experience has become more seamless and enjoyable.

2. Camera Quality: Capture Memories, Not Blurry Messes

Consider features like EIS (Electronic Image Stabilization), which means your footage gets electronically stabilized. If the camera is paired with a gimbal on the drone, it can eliminate most of the shake in your footage.

Technically speaking, I am really very impressed with DJI drones’ video quality. But if I have to select the best DJI drone for recording videos under $500, then DJI Mini 3 clearly comes first. It features a high-resolution 48MP sensor and records HDR video, which gives you excellent tone, color output, and dynamic range. It performs very well while shooting in bright sunlight as well as during night or low-light conditions.

On the other hand, the DJI Mini 4K, with its 12MP sensor, is capable of recording 4K video, but HDR support is not available. So, if you are looking to buy the best camera drone under $500, then DJI Mini 3 is definitely made for you.

3. Flight Time and Battery Life: More Airtime, Less Downtime

Extended flight times matter to everyone, but they ultimately depend on other factors that influence your decision. If gesture control and the price factor of the DJI Neo impress you, and you are a content creator, then the DJI Neo is the better choice for you.

Other than that, if you prefer having multiple battery packs under budget with the DJI Mini 4K, then it may be more suitable for you instead of relying on a single 38-minute runtime of the DJI Mini 3.

However, if you are a professional cinematographer or someone who loves to have a single extended flight time with a powerful battery and excellent video quality with HDR, then the DJI Mini 3 clearly delivers all of that. With 38 minutes of flight time on a single charge and a single battery, the DJI Mini 3 tops the chart for best battery backup in the under $500 range.

4. Range and Stability: Stay Connected, Stay in Control

A 1-10km transmission range with OcuSync or Wi-Fi ensures glitch-free flying. GPS, altitude hold, and wind resistance (Level 4-5) keep things steady. Return-to-home features have saved countless drones, per stories on Redit forums.

5. Safety Features: Crash-Proof Your Investment

Omnidirectional sensors, propeller guards, and geo-fencing prevent mishaps. Under-250g models are forgiving if they bump into something.

Now, apart from the DJI Neo (first generation), almost all the other drones, starting from the DJI Neo 2, DJI Mini 3, and even the DJI Mini 4K, come equipped with a LiDAR sensor. This feature helps the drone automatically avoid obstacles, so you don’t have to keep your eyes on the drone all the time.

So technically, front-facing obstacle avoidance and guided landing are available in almost all drones under the $500 category, except the first-generation DJI Neo. Other than DJI, if we talk about Chinese brands like Potensic or SkyRover, then obviously LiDAR sensors are not available under $500 in those models.

6. Eligibility FLY After DJI BAN / Chinese Drone BAN in USA

Under $500, all the listed brands and drones here are 100% eligible to fly and can be legally sold and purchased in the United States of America. Since the NDAA regulations were implemented on December 22, 2025, and just before that date, all FCC-approved drones by DJI, as well as Autel and other Chinese manufacturers, are still in production and legally on sale in the United States.

The reason is simple: this is not a retroactive ban. In a retroactive ban, authorities usually revoke certifications and place a complete sales ban on products already being sold in the country. However, this is a non-retroactive ban, which means products that were already approved, listed, and available in the market, and that cleared FCC certification before December 22, 2025, are fully legal and eligible for sale and purchase in the United States of America.

So technically, there are no issues with purchasing DJI drones that were announced before December 22, 2025, or drones that already have FCC approval and registration.

Can You Buy DJI Drones in the USA? The Ban Explained – The Best DJI Drones Still Legal in the USA

Nikon Sues Viltrox for Intellectual Property Infringement: A Deep Dive into the Z-Mount Patent Dispute

Some serious problems have emerged between Nikon and Viltrox. Nikon has initiated legal action against the Chinese lens manufacturer over alleged patent infringement related to the Z-mount. The lawsuit, filed in the Shanghai Intellectual Property Court, highlights the ongoing tension between third-party lens makers and Nikon.

Viltrox creates some of the most affordable, budget-oriented lenses, and the optical quality is also top-class. There is no doubt that these lenses are hampering Nikon’s own Z-mount lens sales. Although we know that Nikon opened its Z-mount some time ago, after that many manufacturers aggressively started developing and announcing Nikon Z lenses.

However, Sigma and Tamron have become official partners, and some rebranded lenses from Sigma and Tamron have already arrived in the market—but that is a different story.

Quick Summary: Nikon vs. Viltrox at a Glance

For a fast overview of the key facts and implications, check out this table:

Aspect Details Implications
Lawsuit Basics Nikon suing Viltrox for patent infringement on Z-mount lenses; Case in Shanghai IP Court, hearing March 2, 2026. Could lead to royalties or product discontinuation.
Key Players Plaintiff: Nikon; Defendants: Viltrox and affiliates. Highlights IP protection vs. affordable third-party options.
Market Impact Viltrox offers cheaper lenses (30-50% less than Nikon’s); Sigma/Tamron pay licensing fees. May raise prices for budget lenses but ensure innovation sustainability.
Broader View Similar to Canon’s RF-mount actions; Market growth projected to USD 12.8B by 2035. Balances competition with IP rights for healthier ecosystem.

Details of the Nikon vs. Viltrox Lawsuit

According to recent reports emerging from Chinese social media and photography rumor sites, Nikon is suing Viltrox (officially Shenzhen Weizhuoshi Technology Co., Ltd.) and its affiliates for violating patents tied to the Z-mount system. The case, numbered (2025) Hu73Zhiminchu No.182, centers on a “dispute regarding royalties during the temporary protection period of an invention patent.” The defendants include Viltrox’s parent company, Shenzhen Juegyin Technology Co., Ltd., and Shanghai Qiuhong Photography Equipment Co., Ltd. A court hearing is scheduled for March 2, 2026, at 09:15, in the Shanghai Intellectual Property Court.

Nikon is seeking compensation and royalty fees, and specifically, we are unsure which lenses they are targeting; however, speculation suggests the LAB series lenses.

E.g., if Nikon doesn’t enforce, patents could be seen as abandoned. Viltrox’s scale makes it a target; resolution could lead to licensing (best for users). Historical Nikon suits (e.g., vs. Sigma, RED countersuit) show a pattern.

TNC Take: Keep in mind that a firmware update may prevent the camera from working properly with Viltrox lenses (or accidentally break compatibility, as happened with Megadaps before). So if you buy one, be careful with firmware updates. This is sad news overall, but not exactly shocking considering Viltrox never had Nikon’s blessing to make lenses for the Z mount. It will be a big loss if they can’t sort it out.

One thing is certain: any of these challenging actions, which typically involve DSLR or mirrorless systems, generally require decoding older lenses, algorithms, and communication protocols. This means most Chinese third-party lens makers start creating their first copy of third party lense with reverse engineering, and since Viltrox is now in a strong position, they can potentially pay real royalty fees. At the same time, they have also become one of the biggest third-party lens makers in China.

Sigma/Tamron have licensed Z-mount deals (e.g., rebranded lenses like Tamron’s 35-150mm for Z). Past Nikon-Sigma disputes (e.g., VR tech lawsuit) resolved via licensing. Viltrox is known for reverse-engineering (no official license), similar to Yongnuo. Nikon targets bigger players like Viltrox for royalties once they scale.

Nikon feels that this is a good time to initiate serious legal action; there are many other third-party lens makers who are also reverse-engineering and developing Z-mount lenses. However, since they are not that big, they cannot afford royalty fees and are ignored for the moment..

Although the Z-mount is an open mount, this is still business, and if Nikon sees someone making a significant amount of money from the mount, they will use the best legal mechanisms available to extract profit through licensing and royalties.

In conclusion, this lawsuit underscores the delicate balance between innovation, competition, and protection in the photography industry. While Viltrox’s lenses provide tremendous value, Nikon’s pursuit of royalties ensures sustained R&D. Ultimately, a collaborative approach—where third-parties pay fair fees—could lead to a healthier, more diverse market for all.
