Not one, but surprisingly a single source released the detailed specification of Sony to be announced fullframe Mirrorless cameras which includes Sony A7R IV, Sony A7 IV and Sony A7S IV (BTW, where is Sony A7S III). Let’s take a look at the Major specification of the upcoming Sony cameras.

Well, keep in mind that these are rumored set of specification, take it with a grain of salt. And as usual as we have told you earlier in one of our posts that Sony is now putting minimal core specs updates in their new cameras.
The reason behind these modest core updates (except A7S series) is the absence of a perfect competitor. Canon and Nikon Mirrorless ECO system isn’t mature enough to give tough competition to Sony A7 series cameras.

According to the latest rumors coming out from rumor mills, upcoming Sony A7 IV camera will have with Vari-angle display screen and almost the same core specification as we have seen in the Sony A7III.

As all know Sony is now making their Mirrorless camera more vlogger friendly and incremental updates. Sony A6400, Sony A6100 and Sony A6600 are Sony latest APS-C line of cameras with vlogging friendly screen with modest updates.
Just like what they did with APS-C flagship camera, there is a high probability they will do the same with Sony A7IV camera. We may have modest set of upgrades in the core specs with a Vlogging friendly screen.

Sony A7 and Sony A7R was introduced back in October 2013. They were the first two Camera of Sony A7 Mirrorless series. After that Sony introduced a series of Mirrorless camera and each camera was having significant amount of better core specs than others. Not, only that Sony lowered the price of FF cameras as low as possible to make more reach on the market and to grab-out the sales of already established FF DSLRs. And just After three years, in 2016 Sony has become No.1 FF camera seller in USA. Sony A7 series also became very popular in Asian and European region.
Today, Sony silently Discontinued the Sony A7 series camera. Now, the camera is no longer available in Major retail stores.

Photons to photos website published the test results of Sony A7R IV camera. And we have compared the test results with Canon EOS R and Nikon Z7, Let’s have a look what we have found.
As you can see all the three camera test scores approximately falling in the same zone that’s a good news, more or less you will be getting good results from these cameras.
Sony A7R IV vs Canon EOS R vs Nikon Z7 – Verdict
1. Sony A7R IV – Either low or at High ISO range, Sony A7R IV camera have consistence better Dynamic Range performance.
2. Canon EOS R – isn’t too good at base ISO, Dynamic range of Canon EOS R improves from ISO 400 and matches with Sony A7R IV DR at ISO 3200 till the end.
3. Nikon Z7 – Nikon DR performance is bit zig-zag, Nikon Z7 DR is excellent at base ISO 50, from ISO 100 to ISO 400 Nikon Z7 DR performance is below than Sony A7R IV . From ISO 400 to 12800 the DR range remains in the competitors zone, but falls significantly after ISO 25600 and onward.

We are not so sure about this since the image isn’t very clear. But, as you can see the design of the camera is bit un-usual and big compared to other A7 Series camera. That clearly indicates it’s a new Sony camera and most probably Sony A7S III.
We already have a 6K capable Panasonic S1H camera @ $3,997 at B&H.The only issues a filmmaker will face while recording video is slightly slow AF compared to Hybrid AF system based cameras.
