Sony APS-C Flagship Camera Coming in Next Few Months

Sony A7000

Now let’s talk about the set of information we actually have and the possible scenario of Sony next announcement. It’s look like sony is now done with its Fullframe camera announcements and finally we will be having some great APS-C Mirrorless camera announcement ahead.

In an interview with Sony manager Mr. Tanka at photokina 2018 news event, he said

via pronews.jp  (Translated Version)

Mr. Tanaka: Originally there was a lineup of APS-C cameras as the entrance of the user to the E mount, but for the time being as a requirement of our existing users who are many pros and high amateur users, we must first enrich the high end, for a while I was on holiday. However, the high end also had all this, so it is probably a good time.

Some Speculations about time of announcement

From pronews.jp (translated version)

Although it says that it can not make a statement as to the release timing, it is that he wants to continue to report again at a time when it is not so disappointing. CP + etc etc of next year has become very much looking forward to.

Why CP+ ? Since Sony do not have any new camera in registered wireless certification agency. more details below

No new camera in Announcement Pipeline for now

Now if you look at the Japanese trusted sources information sheet, then we do not have any new APS-C or Fullframe Sony camera registered at Indonesian wireless agency for wireless certification. That clearly indicates that, no Sony big announcement is near around us. Probably as the Japanese news website is saying, we may see a Sony APS-C mirrorless camera announcement and the beginning of 2019 or maybe during the CP Plus event.

Sony APS-C Flagship More Confirmations

Sony A7000

Creative Image of Sony Upcoming Flaghip camera

We have again received some confirmation from reputed rumor mill that Sony is rumored to announce flagship camera soon. Initial set of leaked information suggest that upcoming camera will have a 20FPS shooting speed with a completely redesigned body.

Sony upcoming flagship rumored specification

Name is unknown
Completely new design.
EVF is located on the optical axis as same as α7
blackoutfree
20fps
improved elgonomics

New Body Design

Again in the leaked specs the sources of the reputed rumor mill suggest the EVF is now placed at center instead of its regular position we have seen in the Sony A6XXX series camera. We may see introduction of brand new series from Sony to combat the Fuji X-T3 and Panasonic G9 camera offerings. Or may be Sony planning to introduce a new body similar to Sony A9 or Sony A7, under the name of Sony A6xxx series models.

More or less only time will tell, if we believe the rumored announcement date of the camera then we have 1 week of time left in announcement. But the most suspicious thing is Japanese sources are completely silent and they aren’t getting any leaked specs or upcoming product images.

So, just hope for the best and let’s hope this time we aren’t getting any false date of announcement.

We have received some information in past, that Sony will announce APS-C compact camera on October 16, 2018. The news was coming out from trusted rumor Mills but at the same time Japanese sources were not backing up the same rumor. Finally the rumor turned out to be false.

What I am expecting from Sony A6700

I am expecting that Sony A6700 camera must have a fully articulating screen and that will make it a perfect camera for online content creators. Introduction of Dual SD card slot is also on my wish list as well as their should be some sort of High Resolution Mode, similar to other Sony flagship alpha Fullframe cameras.

We will update you soon as we get any new information.

And Sony Announces 18-135mm IS Lens at $600

Sony 18-135mm lens

One of the best thing I have noticed today is the announcement of Sony E-mount 18-135mm lens. This lens is so important that Canon and Nikon DSLRs offer this lens as a kit lens with APS-C sensor based DSLRs after 18-55mm lens. The lens covers a perfect range that eliminates the need of zoom and standard lens alone and perfect companion for travel photographers.

This new APS-C lens features a versatile 18-135mm focal length, aperture range of F3.5-F5.6 and Optical SteadyShot™ stabilization. The lens is an ideal fit for Sony’s popular APS-C sensor cameras including α6500, α6300 and α6000, and is an extremely useful tool for a wide range of shooting situations ranging from daily life to portraiture, landscape, nature and travel photography.

Additionally, the 18-135mm F3.5-5.6 OSS Zoom Lens offers fast, precise, quiet AF performance thanks to a linear motor, making it a perfect complement to the high-speed shooting and impressive video capabilities of many of Sony’s mirrorless cameras.

So, in near future the upcoming we do hope that next Sony announcement (possibly Sony A6700 or Sony A7000) will carry 18-135mm lens as a kit lens option.

Request to Sony, I am not talking about FF / F-mount users here. But for APS-C / E-mount users they should announce something affordable then current DSLR makers offering.

Let me say you for a photographer like me do look over price tags while getting a camera or lens. Believe me I never buy a camera or suggest it to someone without looking entire price of the system (that includes essential lenses like portrait, Landscape, Zoom and Macro ).
