We have seen Multilayer sensor patents before but this patent is really a technological breakthrough. Nikon patent documents reveled that Nikon is working on 2 layer sensor with Phase AF pixel inside.

More Nikon Multilayer sensor patents

Canon and Sony both using Hybrid sensors in their fullframe and APS-C sensor based cameras. Nikon still using contrast-detect based sensors in APS-C and fullframe DSLRs. And use of traditional sensors result use of contrast based AF in LIVE VIEW and Video mode. Nikon do need advance sensor technology to overcome the contrast based AF issue in DSLRs.

According to latest rumors the the Canon 800D / T7i is coming with a new EF-S 18-55mm f/3.5-5.6 IS STM kit lens. We have already told you earlier that Canon is planning to announce Canon EF 85mm F1.4L IS and not only that Canon 70-200mm new version is also coming in Q4 of 2017.

Nikon DL camera is again delayed. Unfortunately the delay is again un-officially announced by Nikon. I personally thinks Nikon should do a roll back to their announcement if they are unable to ship camera even 1 year after it’s announcement.

According to emails from Jane Roe (anonymous source) The G5X Mark II is scheduled to be announced on Spring 2017, but there is also a big possibility that camera may be arrive before scheduled announcement due to tough competition.

We have received information in past that Canon will do schedule announcements of small sensor compacts on Jan and Feb of 2017. We have also told you a week ago that Canon Rebel DSLR is coming in Q1 of next year and Canon 6D Mark II on April 2017.
