According to the latest rumors surfaced on the web, Sony’s FX-format cinema camera announcement is expected very soon. The packaging box of the model code WW279317 leaked today by a source, and he claims that the camera is produced by Shanghai Suoguang.
The camera is said to be a New Model from BURANO Series. So, we now have confirmation that we will soon have our next FX format cinema camera from Sony. Stay tuned more updates coming

A Source told me that a supposedly reliable media or someone claimed that I falsely identified WW279317 as CineAltaB, and that there must be a new FX camera, or some media outlets are still speculating about an unknown FX camera.
There definitely is a new FX camera, ILME won’t immediately stop producing them. But WW279317 is indeed BURANO, it’s written on the packaging box. For example, Film Hurricane got the first MPC-2610 produced by Shanghai Suoguang.
Suoguang’s professional cameras don’t have Bluetooth, and even the VENICE series doesn’t have a built-in wireless module, they rely on external wireless cards. But Burano has 5.8GHz, which is a first.
The media shouldn’t jump to conclusions without evidence, always thinking about some exotic sentiment. Just because someone’s skin color/nationality is different doesn’t mean they can be appointed.

TNC take: So, for now, as you know the Sony A6700 camera was announced in July 2023, and Sony took almost 4 years to bring the update, the Sony A6600 was announced in Aug 2019. So, you can notice the big difference between the update cycle of both the flagship APS-C Cameras. So, even if Sony plans to update the A6700 camera a bit early, even though they will announce it sometime in late 2025 (Q4 of 2025). So, it’s completely safe to buy a Sony A6700 camera for now.

Sony registered a new camera at a wireless certification agency, the model code is WW293541. As per the latest rumors from rumor mills the WW293541 camera is said to be Sony ZV-E10 Mark II.
The only thing that concerns me is the WiFi band mentioned in the wireless certification document, since the Sony ZV-E10 series is an entry-level camera series and I was expecting Sony to keep WiFi limited to 2.4 GHz. But, in the latest registered model, we have 5 GHz WiFi available for faster data transfer which is usually available in Sony Cameras with $1000+ budget, like Sony A6700.
It looks like the Sony ZV-E10 Mark II comes with almost all the core specs we have seen in the Sony A6700 camera, including a 26MP sensor and 4k 60fps recording and of course 2.4 GHz and 5 GHz bands for fast and stable data transfer. (obviously, they will remove EVF and some features to save up the production line cost and sales of the A6700 camera)

We now have the leaked images of the to-be-announced Sigma 50mm F1.2, the lens is coming for the Sony E-Mount and Leica L-Mount.
When Compared to Sony’s 50mm F1.2GM, the new lens is said to be more compact lightweight and affordable, overall similar to their own 50mm F1.4 lens. It features a 77mm filter interface and 13 aperture blades. It will be available in Sony E-mount and Leica L-mount versions and is expected to be released within the next two weeks at a slightly lower price than the original manufacturer’s.

Some updates related to the upcoming Sony cameras: The first update concerns the Sony A7S Mark 4 camera. Initially, it was expected to arrive in Q4 of 2024, but now there are indications that the camera may be slightly delayed and arrive in either Q1 or Q2 of 2025.
Additionally, there’s news that Sony will soon expand its Z series cameras (Yes we know the ZV-E10 Mark II coming, but the news is about the expansion of the entire series not about the successor of any model). This expansion will include both APS-C and full-frame models. We can expect some glimpses of these announcements in 2024.
However, it’s important to note that this information comes from unofficial sources, so taking it with a grain of salt is advisable.

Finally, will we have good news after a long gap? The Sony Alpha A1 firmware update is coming. A lot of people have been waiting for it. I’ve been receiving many messages asking when the update will arrive, as people have already invested a lot in this camera. However, since its announcement, there has been a MAJOR update, the last version 1.36 update was also related to stability improvement only and no major upscaling done during that time
Sony Alpha A1 User Features Request
- For example, a few days back, I received a user request asking if it would be possible for Sony to fix the breathing compensation and improve the workflow feature, specifically in the video zone.
- Another significant issue for a user was the lack of animal eye autofocus in 4K video. I hope that this will also be fixed as soon as possible.
- Other users have told me that there is no easy way to use focus stacking in the Sony Alpha A1 or how to use the BULB mode in the camera ?. They are looking for an easy method to use the focus stacking feature.
Look at the Nikon Z9 or even the Canon R3. All these cameras are receiving regular major updates, and due to those updates, the overall specifications of the cameras are scaling up to the next level. Unfortunately, the Sony team has been silent since the announcement of the Alpha A1. But now, we have some good news that a major firmware update is about to arrive. Sony A9 III, Sony A1 and Sony A7S III to get an in-camera signature and C2PA authentication to fight against AI-generated images, back on Nov Sony confirmed that they are in the second phase of the trial for adding the in-camera signature and C2PA authentication, now they have completed the testing and a major firmware update on its way for Sony A9 III, Sony A1, and Sony A7S III, the firmware will enable to add digital signatures to their images and videos. The update will arrive in Spring of 2024 (before June) Hence Press agencies and stock websites will prefer images captured from a camera where they can easily find out about the authenticity of the image, it will help to distinguish between a real and AI-generated image very easily.
Not only are Sony, Canon, and Nikon actively working on this tech, but Canon and Nikon will add in-camera digital signatures starting in 2024 in their professional bodies.
