Ricoh Co., Ltd. (President: Yoshinori Yamashita) and Ricoh Imaging Co., Ltd. (President: Shinobu Takahashi) are currently developing new digital single-lens reflex camera products that will become the APS-C flagship.
The name of the new product currently under development has been decided to be “PENTAX K-3 Mark III”, and it is the intrinsic value of a single-lens reflex camera as a product that embodies the “PENTAX STATEMENT” * previously published on the Ricoh Imaging website. Pentax to be announced APS-C DSLR camera is using more advance Phase AF sensor in the camera compare to previous APS-C flagship aka K-3 II camera according to Mistral (Pentax forum user). Take a look at size difference of the two phase AF sensors

Pentax K-3 II was discontinued on Feb 2018
Pentax K-3 II is discontinued at B&H store, the camera isn’t available to consumers from FEB 2018. So, almost 1.5+ years passed and as per the rumors we had in past. The next Pentax APS-C flagship camera will arrive on Q1 / Q 2 of 2020.

Pentax next APS-C DSLR camera is rumored to use Sony’s 26MP APS-C Sensor. Fuji is using customized Sony 26MP X-Trans Sensor of their Fuji X-T3 and Fuji X-T30 camera. After Fuji, its look like Pentax is interested in Sony’s 26 MP sensor. Early prototypes of APS-C flagship is being tested with 26MP Sensor, other features are yet to be confirmed.
On Feb of 2019 we have published the tweet of Pentax Photographer Ms. N Tanaka. In the tweet he clearly said that the successor model of Pentax K-3 II is coming on 2020.
Back on Feb he also told us about announcement of Pentax Limited Edition DSLR which was true.
