Update on: 6:36 pm, Friday, 26 December 2025, Greenwich Mean Time (GMT)
The Nikon ZR camera has already been mentioned in our earlier article. The Nikon Z9 Mark II is currently expected to arrive in 2026, alongside the Nikon Z7 Mark III camera. The full-frame camera announcement timeline for both models is expected to be almost the same.
The Nikon Z9 Mark II is expected to carry a 45MP enhanced sensor. At this moment, it is still not entirely clear what “enhanced” exactly means, since it is already a stacked sensor, while the Nikon Z7 Mark III is expected to feature a higher-resolution sensor, possibly 61MP or even 80MP. Nikon wants to clearly define and separate its lineup.
If someone wants a higher-resolution sensor for better dynamic range, landscape photography, or commercial work, they can opt for the Nikon Z7 Mark III. On the other hand, if someone wants speed, reliability, resolution, and all-in-one flagship-level performance, they can go with the Nikon Z9 Mark II.
Some unverified YouTube channels are spreading rumors that the Nikon Z9 Mark II will arrive with a higher-resolution sensor, which could overlap with the Z7 series. This is not true. The Nikon Z7 Mark III has its own clear position, and it is expected to arrive in 2026.
It’s already 3 months since the registration of the Nikon N2410 Model (the camera was registered back in April 2025). Generally, camera makers like Nikon announce their products 3 – 4 months after registration in the wireless certification agency, so we can expect the Nikon Camera announcement of August – September 2025
N2410 registration details show that it’s not an entry-level model. It supports 5 gigahertz of Wi-Fi bandwidth, so if a camera supports 5 gigahertz of Wi-Fi bandwidth, then without a doubt, it’s an FX series or DX series premium camera.
Based on Rumors – The Next Announcement: Nikon
If we take a look at the list of upcoming Nikon cameras in 2025 and 2026, then we have two different sets of probabilities:
- Z9 Mark II camera: The first probability is the development announcement of the Nikon Z9 Mark II camera in late 2026. Its announcement is expected to happen before the 2026 Winter Olympics.
- Nikon ZR / Z video camera: The name is not confirmed yet, said to use the same partially stacked CMOS sensor that we have seen in the Nikon Z6 III camera. Right now, check more details about the Nikon ZR
- Nikon Z7 III is long long-rumored camera, and it’s also in the announcement pipeline of Nikon, the camera is also expected to arrive with a 61MP sensor. More details here
So, as per the latest set of rumors, we have all three of these cameras expected to arrive in Q4 of 2025 and Q1 of 2026, as we get any information related to that we will post it soon.
Nikon Next Registration N24XX

One more Nikon camera in the registration pipeline: According to the latest rumours we have from a trusted source E88_8888, Nikon is about to register a new camera in the Chinese wireless certification agency. Once the model code and other details are revealed, we will be publishing a post soon on our website.
Stay tuned for more updates

The photography community is buzzing with speculation about the Nikon Z7 Mark III, thanks to recently leaked specifications. The Independent Association of Photographers from China has labeled these leaks as fake, but are they entirely baseless? Let’s dive into the details of the leaked specs, their plausibility, and what they mean for Nikon’s high-resolution camera lineup.
Official Statement from the Independent Association of Photographers from China
—- This what they said about the information leaked above — Many people have been messaging me asking if this rumor is true, and many believe it, but the rumors about the Nikon Z7III are completely false.
Before saying anything is real or fake, one has to analyze its specifications. Does this leaked specification have any possibility of its existence in the upcoming Nikon Z7 Mark 3 camera? Does it have anything real inside it, whatever we have seen or read till now?
As you can see in the specifications, it is very clearly written: 61-megapixel FX-format BSI CMOS sensor and 8K 30 fps video recording capability with 4K 60 fps recording mode.
The timeline Z7 III arrival they’re sharing right now is from August to November 2025. We are very clearly known to the fact that Nikon is running late as per their scheduled announcement timeline, and the big reason behind that—as their representatives clearly mentioned, is that the demand for the Z7 series is less compared to the Z6 series. That’s why they are updating the Z6 III camera a bit early, as there are a lot of wedding photographers waiting for an update. But unfortunately, the Z7 series market space or the consumer base is slightly limited, and that’s why Nikon intentionally delayed its announcement.
When Will the Nikon Z7 Mark III Camera Arrive?
The Nikon Z7 Mark III camera is already running late, as we have already explained to you. It has been intentionally delayed, but Nikon hasn’t postponed the Z7 series. But, yes, it’s a fact that after the arrival of the Nikon Z5 II, the Z7 II has become one of the most old and outdated cameras in the Nikon Z lineup, so it raises a very high probability that Nikon may bring an update to this series before 2025 ends.
So that means yes, there is a very high probability that we may see the announcement of the Z7 Mark 3 in the year 2025.
Nikon Z7 Mark III Camera Sensor Resolution: Sony or TowerJazz?
Now, about the specifications—it has been very clearly mentioned that it may use Sony’s 61-megapixel or TowerJazz’s 67-megapixel sensor. And why have they said so? Is there any logical reason behind this?
We all know that Nikon has a very good relationship with Sony Imaging Division, and they are continuously using their sensors in most of their cameras. Now, as they have also mentioned TowerJazz, we do know that Nikon APS-C series like the Nikon Z50 Mark II, the Nikon Z30, and the Nikon Zfc’s 20-megapixel APS-C CMOS sensor is made by TowerJazz.
So yes, they can take sensors from TowerJazz, since they do have a good relationship with the company.
And one of the most important things that you might have forgotten is that Nikon China accidentally leaked the Z7 Mark 2 sample images back in 2022 with 67-megapixel resolution. But just after those images were published, Nikon China’s social media handlers deleted those images.
So there is a very high probability that they already have the working prototypes of the Nikon Z7 Mark 3 camera with multiple sensor variations, including sensors like 61 MP from Sony or 67 MP from TowerJazz.
Nikon Z7 Series: Resolution Over Speed
And the Nikon Z7 series is about resolution, not speed. If someone wants a hybrid solution, Nikon does have cameras like the Nikon Z8 and the Nikon Z9—both of them use the same sensor, which is a perfect combination of speed and resolution.
So yes, whatever text has been written in the leaked set of specifications doesn’t seem to be completely false. So we have to wait and watch what actually comes, since we already have this set of data in front of us. Now it’s about Nikon taking a step forward and announcing the long-awaited Z7 Mark 3 camera in front of us.

Why the Nikon Z7 Mark 3 Leak Seems Plausible
- Historical Precedent: Nikon China’s 2022 leak of 67-megapixel sample images suggests prototype development.
- Nikon’s Partnerships: Strong ties with Sony and TowerJazz make the rumored sensors feasible.
- Market Demand: The Z7 series’ focus on resolution aligns with the leaked high-megapixel specs.
- Delayed Timeline: Nikon’s prioritization of the Z6 III explains the Z7 III’s delay, but 2025 is a logical target.
While the Independent Association of Photographers from China dismisses the leaked specifications as fake, the details align closely with Nikon’s technological capabilities and market strategy. The rumored 61-megapixel or 67-megapixel sensor, combined with 8K video, positions the Z7 Mark 3 as a powerhouse for resolution-focused photographers. With a potential announcement in 2025, all eyes are on Nikon to confirm or deny these exciting leaks. And obviously, Nikon will keep silent over these without a doubt.

List of upcoming Nikon cameras for 2025 – 2026. Now, let’s discuss what’s next from Nikon, as per the latest rumors. Due to the recent developments in AI Processing Units and software-based technology, Upcoming Nikon cameras are now pushing the performance limits to a new standard. Not only about the upcoming Mirrorless camera, We have strong hints that Nikon is working on a RED-style Cinema camera too, other than that Nikon Z9 Mk II, Nikon Z7 III, Nikon Z30 II, and more…, coming in the year if 2025. So, let’s start with the Nikon Z30 II

1. Nikon ZR
Nikon ZR is said to be one of the first CineStyle cameras under the Z Mount name. Nikon ZR is the first of its type, and 2 more of these pro cinema Mirrorless cameras are in the development pipeline, so not only the ZR, but two more of them are coming. The Nikon Z Cinema series has 3 different models in the roadmap, but right now we have only information related to the Nikon ZR. The Nikon ZR is expected to arrive in Q4 of 2025.

2. Nikon Z9 II
Nikon Z9 II will get the Expeed 8 image processor, image processor will remain the same. That means we will get a massive update in the processing power of the existing Z9 camera, which will directly affect the autofocusing algorithms, specifically 3D object tracking, continuous shooting speed, video recording resolution, and frame rate. So for sure, we will have a massive update in the camera’s core specifications.

Based on Nikon’s product update trends and the typical lifecycle for entry-level models, the Nikon Z30 Mark II announcement is likely to happen around on Q4 of 2025 or Q1 of 2026.

4. Nikon Z7 III
the Nikon Z7 Mark III will mark its presence sometime in August to November 2025. As per the latest rumors, Nikon will bring a higher resolution sensor the the Z7 III series, probably a 61 MP sensor from Sony or a 67MP sensor from Towerjazz, Nikon has been working with 67Mp sensor Prototypes for more than 2 years. Some rumor mills believe the upcoming Nikon Z7 III will get the same 45.7 Mp stacked CMOS sensor, but that is not true. The priority of Nikon is to keep the Z7 III in competition or better than the Sony A7R series, specifically in terms of image quality and dynamic range.
Nikon Z7 III Specification
- 61 + MP FX-Format BSI CMOS Sensor
- 8K30p and 4K60p Video, 10-bit Internal, ProRes RAW
- Up to 20 fps Max Shooting
- 493-Point AF

Nikon Z7 II is of the most outdated camera of Nikon Z mount along with the Nikon Z5, so Nikon Z7 III update will sure arrive in 2025 without a doubt, if we will get any updated related to the same will update you asap.

5. Nikon Cinema Camera
RED’s R&D teams worked for many years to achieve their current level of perfection. Now, with Nikon’s acquisition, it’s easier for Nikon to transfer these technologies and allow their Z-Mount R&D division to benefit from them. At the same time, Nikon will also share their advanced autofocus algorithms with RED, aiding in the development of active Z-Mount-based cinema cameras in the near future.
In past, RED partnered with TowerJazz for their cameras’ 20-megapixel global shutter Super 35mm sensors, offering advanced video capabilities. This partnership helped RED stay ahead of other consumer and mid-level cameras.
Nikon and TowerJazz Collaboration isn’t new, Nikon and TowerJazz have a long-standing relationship, with TowerJazz relying on Nikon for equipment and Nikon using TowerJazz sensors in their DSLRs and mirrorless cameras. This collaboration is evident from the companies’ shared presentation materials.
Potential Release of KOMODO or Raptor with Zmount:
A RED camera with Nikon’s Z-mount. We can expect upcoming RED Komodo-X variants, like Komodo Z to feature ACTIVE Z-mount support. Since the face detection system is already enabled with the Canon RF mount, if Nikon introduces a Z-mount, we can be sure that the face detection autofocus system will be enabled either via an app or directly in the camera.

What to Expect – So in the future, we will see 12-bit internal video recording capabilities and global shutter sensors coming to Nikon Z-mount mirrorless cameras. At the same time, upcoming RED cameras will feature an active Z-mount with full-time autofocus support.
Arrival Date of Nikon Cinema Camera – We would love to have a development announcement from Nikon on or before Q4 of 2024. although they have already announced the development of their first cinema lens 28-135mm for Z mount.

6. Nikon ZF Mark II
We are expecting the arrival of the Nikon Zf Mark II Camera in 2026. The Nikon Zf and Zfc were initially announced as experimental models, just like we had the Nikon DF announcement in the past (DSLR Era), but since the Nikon DF didn’t become popular due to its LIMITED photography-only camera style theme. Now, we have the Nikon ZF, a spiritual successor to the Nikon DF camera. Which arrived with extensive manual control and HYBRID in nature for both video and still use, became highly popular among Nikon users, its quite obvious that we will have the Nikon ZF II shortly, let’s explore the possible set of specifications of the Nikon ZF II camera
Nikon ZF Mark II Specification
- 24.5MP FX-Format Partially Stacked CMOS Sensor
- EXPEED 8 Image Processor
- 6K 60p N-RAW, 4K 120p ProRes RAW
- 6K 60p and 4K 120p Video, 10-Bit Internal
- Up to 20 fps RAW, 60 fps JPEG Shooting
- 273-Point AF, AI-Based Subject Detection with Bird Mode
- Blackout-Free 5.76M-Dot OLED Viewfinder
- 3.2″ Fully Articulating Touchscreen LCD
- Optional Vertical Grip, CFexpress Type B and UHS-II SD Slots
- 5 GHz Wi-Fi, Bluetooth 5.0, and GNSS
Based on a 3 to 4 year refresh cycle as well as preserving the sales of other models including the Nikon Z6 Mark 3, we are expecting the potential release of Nikon ZF Mark II camera in September 2026.

7. Nikon Z90
According to the latest rumors, the 33 MP sensor prototype is expected to be approved for production. But at the same time, Nikon is now very concerned about market demand and is not just throwing up every mirrorless line in front of users. If they see very clearly that there is market demand, then they will surely announce the Nikon Z90 camera.
Nikon Z90 Latest Rumored Specification
- 33.4 Mp DX-Format CMOS Sensor
- EXPEED 7 Image Processor
- UHD 4K60p/Full HD 180fps Video Recording
- 5-Axis In-Body Vibration Reduction
- Focus-Point Stabilization
- AI AF, Improved 3D Autofocus, 9 Subject Detection
- Pre-Release Capture, 15 Mechanical Shooting
- Dual UHS-II SD Slots
- 5 GHz Wi-Fi and Bluetooth
Nikon has lowered the price of full-frame Z cameras, starting with the Z5 and Z6 II, as well as the ZF. All these full-frame cameras are in a reasonable price range. The main intention of the brand right now is to upscale the user experience to a frame sensor as much as possible. So, they can have as many options as possible in terms of Z-mount bodies and lenses.
So, we do not doubt the prototypes being tested in Nikon’s lab, and the Nikon Z90 will surely be announced in the near future. However, only time will tell when the marketing team gives a green flag to these prototypes.

8. Nikon Z80
There is very little chattering about the Nikon Z80 camera. Of course, if it arrives, it will be somewhere in between the Z90 and the Z50 Mark II camera. If you have to make an educated guess for a core specification of the Nikon Z80, then it will have a 24 MP DX partially stacked BSI CMOS sensor, paired with active pixel image stabilization, and 4K 60 FPS recording without any crop.
But again, the information related to a concept Z80 camera is very less. As soon as we get any information related to that, we will be updating you soon.

9. Nikon Z4
Nikon Z4 camera rumor: Back in 2022, we spotted a Nikon compact full-frame release camera body with very minimal controls. No EVF was included in the back to reduce the production line cost, and at the very same time, a tiny display was visible on top of the body. So, from this patent, it was very clear that Nikon is very mindful about developing a super budget full-frame body that will allow users to get a full-frame camera at a super affordable price range.

We received this theory from a source we trust a lot, but at the very same time, we decided not to publish it when we received it at that time, since at that time it didn’t look logical to me, but finally I am publishing it here
According to the source, Nikon will surely announce this Z5 II body next year (which means 2025). But at the very same time, they are also thinking parallelly to put the core specifications of the existing Z5 Mirrorless camera, paired with the Expeed 7 image processor, in a super budget body. By removing the EVF, the production line cost will go down, and with the video-core specifications and autofocus performance of the camera being improved, Nikon will position it as an entry-level Fullframe camera.

As per the latest rumors, it is almost confirmed that the Z50 replacement is coming on or before November 2024, and a Nikon FX-Format Lens announcement is expected in August-September 2024. A Chinese distributor revealed these details, although he shared a minimal set of information and skipped the names and specs of the models to be announced. When asked about the Z5 successor, he said it is not coming in 2024. He declined to share any information about the Nikon Next FX Camera announcement when asked about the Z7 III and its potential for a massive resolution.
— End of Rumor —
TNC Take –
Nikon Z50 II or Nikon Z80 – Nikon’s Next DX Camera
The good news is finally after a long gap it has almost been confirmed that we will have a DX camera announcement from Nikon, its mentioned its Z50 replacement so we can expect the camera to be called Nikon Z50 II. Recently E88_8888 shouted about the Nikon Z80 arrival, so we cannot put confirmation over the Z50 successor name, it could be Z50 II or Z80, but for sure it’s on the announcement pipeline.
Nikon 50mm F1.4 Z or Something else
As per the intial hints we have, test cycles for the Nikon 50mm F1.4 are almost completed, and the lens is about to enter production once the demand for the Z35mm F1.4 stabilizes to a point. I believe the Z50mm F1.4 announcement is imminent. The only possible delay could be if the demand for the 35mm F1.4 exceeds expectations, putting extra pressure on the production line
