Venus Optics is the company that announced the new series of anamorphic lenses, the Proteus 2x Anamorphic Series. The lenses are designed for use with cameras that have a Super35 and Full-frame sensor (Arri PL and Canon EF mounts). They are compatible with Laowa’s 1.4x full-frame expander, allowing each lens to cover a full-frame image sensor, making it even more versatile. The new Proteus lenses come in 35mm, 45mm, 60mm and 85mm focal lengths, which offer a wide range of focal lengths for different shooting situations. Each prime lens has a fast T2 aperture, which is suitable for low light conditions and also allows for a shallower depth of field and more bokeh.
The lenses come in Arri PL and Canon EF mounts, which are popular among professional videographers and filmmakers. The lenses are available for purchase separately for $4,999 each, although two-lens bundles are also available for $9,499. This is considered a high-end gear and the pricing is accordingly.
Anamorphic lenses are special types of camera lenses that are designed to give your videos a wider and more cinematic look. They work by capturing the image in a slightly different way, allowing more of the scene to be captured in the frame. This creates a wider image and a more cinematic look, similar to what you would see in a movie. They are often used by videographers/cinematographers who want to create a unique and dramatic look for their work. These lenses can help you to stand out and make your work look more professional and cinematic.
According to Yosuke Yamane, the Director of Panasonic’s Imaging business, Micro Four Thirds cameras can deliver a “compact and lightweight system that enables hand-held photography in combination with a telephoto lens, which is not possible with full-frame.” He believes that this combination of size and portability makes Micro Four Thirds cameras an “indispensable system” for achieving a compact body that can be easily carried, and that this is what differentiates it from full-frame cameras.
Possibility of Panasonic G100 Mark II?
content creators the new consumer base, Yosuke Yamane mentions that the company specifically wants to target “social media creators” with their camera offerings. With the growth of platforms like YouTube, there are increasing opportunities for independent producers to share their work and gain a following. As a result, there is an expanding market for video production equipment, and Yosuke Yamane believes that Micro Four Thirds cameras with their compact size, good video capabilities, and easy portability can be well-suited for this market. The reason behind the Panasonic G100 market failure was the slow DFD AD system, possibly what now they have the Phase AF technology and sure they will try their luck again.

As you can see Thom hogan uploaded a pic of a Christmas gift on his website Take a look text written in the gift box, it looks like the pre-production model is already in the hands of reviewers around the web. Thom has also writes
A new Z8 with a new Speedlight. With the new lenses. With no mechanical shutter. With some new software updates (note that NX Mobile Air just got a significant one)…..bonus points for performance superlatives, such as 10K raw video or 60 fps raw stills. Deductions for leaving out something, such as pixel-shift capture or higher resolution EVFs.
Not only Nikon Z8, but Thom hogan also writes an entire article on what he is expecting from Nikon in the CES event 2023
CES is Probably Worthwhile if…
…we get a new, useful, interesting camera. I suppose I’d put a Z70, Z6 III, or Z7 III in that category
Well, that’s really exciting news, if we consider all the hints from the images and the text.. then for sure the Nikon Z8 announcement is in the corner and we will see it very soon. Most probably in the CES show. Well, let’s hope for the best.
