New NIKKOR Z 35-85mm f/1.8 S Lens Rumor

NIKKOR Z 35-85mm f/1.8 S constant aperture lens rumor has just surfaced through a popular Weibo handle. We’re unsure of the credibility of this information, but we do have a constant-aperture full-frame lens from Sigma with a similar focal length, the Sigma 28-45mm f/1.8. However, this particular lens is currently available only for Sony E-mount and L-mount.

As of now, any collaboration between Nikon and Sigma for a Z-mount version of this lens hasn’t been confirmed. Given the focal length of 28-45mm, it’s possible Nikon could be partnering with Sigma to develop a 35-85mm lens with a constant f/1.8 aperture. While this possibility exists, we don’t have an exact timeline yet for when it might be realized.

Map Camera September 2024 sales rankings: Canon EOS R5 Mark II Takes the Top Spot

Canon R5 Mark II camera tops the sales ranking of Sep 2024 in Japan. Japan MAP camera ranking top list here

1st place Canon EOS R5 Mark II
2nd place Canon EOS R6 Mark II
3rd place FUJIFILM X-T5
4th place SONY α7C II
5th place FUJIFILM X-T50
6th place Nikon Z f
7th place RICOH GR III
8th place SONY α7IV
9th place DJI Osmo Pocket 3
9th place Nikon Z6III

  • The EOS R5 Mark II, which placed third in the previous ranking, has finally taken first place, one month late. The number of preorders is still far short, and a long wait is expected, but it still managed to take first place with a slight lead over the second place model. The ranking will likely be decided by the number of units in stock.
  • In third place is the “X-T5”. Last time, it made a comeback and took the top spot, but this time it lost to the Canon models. Still, its popularity remains unchanged.
  • In fourth place is the “α7C II”. While sales figures for other models such as the α7IV and α7RV tend to be heavily influenced by campaigns, this is the only model that has consistently been popular. It is also popular among foreign tourists.
  • In sixth place is the “Z f”. Nikon’s Z8, which had been a regular on the rankings up until this point, suddenly disappeared. There was no particular supply shortage, so it feels like a really sudden event. The Z6III, which took the top spot by a long way when it first appeared in July, unexpectedly dropped to 10th place the following August. The Z6III was sluggish again this year, and the Z8 has fallen out of the rankings, so one can’t help but think of Nikon’s declining popularity.

The EOS R5 Mark II only made it to third place on its first appearance due to a supply shortage, but it has risen to first place in its second month, so it seems like a fair number of units are being supplied. However, it seems the serious supply shortage situation continues, so it’s difficult to predict where it will rank in the future.
