Canon Upcoming Cameras 2024

Upcoming Canon Mirrorless Camera 2024 – Let’s have a look at the list of upcoming Canon cameras for the year 2024. These Canon mirrorless cameras are expected to arrive in the later months of 2023 and in 2024, so here’s a full list of upcoming Canon cameras.

1. Canon R1

The first camera on our list is the long-rumored Canon R1. The Canon R1 camera is said to arrive before the Olympics of 2024. The Canon R1 is Canon’s flagship mirrorless camera and is set to feature a high-resolution sensor of around 50 megapixels and a blazing fast autofocus. It can be used for landscape photography as well as for sports, making it one of the most versatile cameras ever made by Canon, as per the rumored specs we have.

We do have confirmations that the upcoming Canon R1 camera will have enhanced eye or iris tracking capability (Confirmed: Canon R1 Has Canon R3 Eye Control AF System and more… published on June 2023). Currently, the Canon R3 camera uses a 5.76 million pixel electronic viewfinder with 120 frames per second refresh rate.

As I have said, the arrival time of the camera is expected to be sometime in the first quarter of 2024, so it will become available in the hands of photographers by the Olympics.

2. Canon R5 Mark II

The next camera on our list is the Canon R5 Mark II. The Canon R5 and Canon R6 were announced back in 2020, but in 2022, Canon updated the Canon R6 camera with the Canon R6 Mark II, and we are still waiting for the R5 update.

Canon R5 Mark II Expected Core Specs

  • 45MP Full-Frame Stacked BSI CMOS Sensor
  • Dual Pixel CMOS AF II, Eye Control AF
  • Sensor-Shift 5-Axis Image Stabilization
  • 40 fps E. Shutter, 12 fps Mech. Shutter
  • 8K 60 Raw and 4K120 10-Bit Internal Video
  • 2″ 4.2m-Dot Vari-Angle Touchscreen LCD
  • 76m-Dot EVF with 120 fps Refresh Rate
  • Wired LAN and 5 GHz Wi-Fi Support
  • Multi-Function Shoe, Built-In Vert. Grip

The Canon R5 Mark II camera is said to feature a brand new 50-megapixel stacked CMOS sensor and an enhanced dual DIGIC X image processor. The camera will have a major upgrade in still and video specs and is also said to feature an advanced heat management unit to prevent overheating while oversampling an 8K sensor to create 4K videos. Now, according to the latest set of rumors we have, either the Canon R5 Mark II camera or the Canon R1 is expected to arrive in the first quarter of 2024.

So we must wait for further confirmation on which model is coming in the first quarter of 2024.

If Canon runs its traditional path, then for sure they will first announce the Canon R1 camera at the beginning of 2024, and then at the end of 2024 or maybe at the very beginning of 2025, we will have the Canon R5 Mark II. In a similar fashion like how Nikon Z8 was announced after a few months once the sales period of Nikon Z9 was over. Similarly, Sony is also preparing to announce Alpha A9 Mark III camera which will have approximately 90% of the core specifications of Alpha A1.

3. Canon Rp Mark II

Canon Rp Mark II [Name not Confirmed] The Canon Rp Mark II camera, with the same 24MP sensor we have seen in the Canon R8 / Canon R6 Mark II, is expected to arrive in Q3 / Q4 of 2024. The camera will be a trimmed-down version of the existing Canon R8 camera at an affordable price.

4. Canon R10 Mark II

Canon R10 Mark II Lastly, about APS-C cameras, the Canon R10 Mark II camera is expected to arrive at the end of 2024.

Canon R10 Mark II Early rumors suggest that it depends on what competitors are offering. If the Sony ZV-E10 Mark II arrives (Q1/Q2 of 2024) [See Sony Upcoming cameras 2023 – 2024] with a 26 MP sensor and video capability same as Sony A6700, then for sure Canon will uplift the core specification of the to-be-announced Canon R10 Mark II to the next level and will use the same sensor we have seen in the Canon R7 camera along with enhanced core specifications.

The next APS-C Camera in our list belongs to the Canon V-Series [Vlogging Series]

5. Canon V100

Canon V100 – is expected to arrive at the very end of 2023 of early months of 2024. The camera will be an interchangeable lens camera with enhanced core specifications made for content creators

    Where is R6????

  • Jan Boos/alias John Statue

Canon has made a battery grip for all analog and digital EOS models over the years and now NOT for the R7. That is still a NO-GO for many! why didn’t Canon make a battery grip for this R7? Or, if necessary, a good thick grip under the camera bottom. I still misgrasp and have to turn my wrist to portrait position. So Canon quickly make one for the R7. This benefits the customer’s wishes!
