Before we start we must know that the battle is between Sigma vs Canon prime lenses (where is tamron?), being a budget photographer I always keep eye on price tag + specification / performance of a product….. starting from the current price
- Sigma ART Lens – 50mm f/1.4 DG HSM Lens price is approx $949.00 at B&H and Amazon and
- Canon EF 50mm f/1.2L USM Lens will cost you $1,619.00 (no need to give buying links.. i know you will not buy this lens after reading the comparison below)

My first reaction was WOW, both lens output look soooo amazing.. the bokeh is very creamy.. but the real test start from the image below..

Sigma is rumored to announce 85mm F1.4 DG Art lens at Photokina show (germany), the lens shipping will start from Q1 of 2015, on the other hand Zeiss is also rumored to announce its 85mm f/1.4 OTUS lens at Photokina event.
As you can see the image that the Sigma ART lens is very close to Zeiss Otus test marks. Sigma Art Lenses will surely eat a major market share of zeiss since the recent test and review at DxOMark showed us that Sigma art image quality is equal to the Otus lens… and the price of Sigma Art lens is just half compared to Zeiss Otus. Sigma 50m F1.4 Art price is $949 (B&H and Amazon) and Zeiss 35mm F/1.4 Distagon T will cost you $1843 (B&H and Amazon).

We don’t have image samples yet but according to facebook post by a well known Belgian retailer PCH, the image quality of Sigma DP2 Quattro is similar to recently announced Pentax 645z.
 Screen grab of FB page When it comes to sheer image quality and sharpness, the Quattro looked equal to this 51-MP medium-format camera.
We have seen the image quality of SD1 (multilayer Foveon) sensor is extremely good at base ISO range (100, 200), …the color output of multilayer sensor is matchless to its APS-C competitors at ISO 100…but high amount of noise starts at 1600… and image become un-usable when we reach ISO 3200…
We are very excited to hear the news and we will soon publish the high ISO test images of Sigma DP2 Quattro as they become available…

The good news is that 29MP Foveon X3 Quattro CMOS Image Sensor based Sigma dp2 Quattro Price is under $1000, other features include a fixed 30mm f/2.8 Lens (35mm Equivalent: 45mm) and ISO range up to 6400. on the rear side we have 3.0″ 920k-dot TFT LCD screen.
The camera also features contrast detect AF system with 9 AF point and Full Manual AF supports also available, lens itself has a focusing ring for manual focusing.
