DJI Osmo Action 6 Coming in October 2025

DJI Action 6

Finally, we have more updates related to the announcement date of the DJI Action 6 Announcement from Multiple sources. Just before this, we have also posted images of the Action 5 Pro as well as specifications such as a 1-inch sensor and enhanced smartwatch integration. And now, finally, it’s time to reveal the arrival date of the DJI Action 6 Camera via our trusted sources

DJI Action 6 Arrival Date

Source 1: Dji Action 6 Coming on October 24, 2025.

Source 2: Get ready for some Action from DJI, in the 2nd half of October

The good thing is that both sources are indicating that the DJI Action 6 Camera will be announced by October 2025. Availability is expected shortly after, potentially in late October or early November. Pre-orders could open immediately after the announcement. You can watch out for upcoming teasers on the Amazon.com DJI official store page or the DJI official USA website for the Action 6. Stock is expected to arrive at retailers, such as Amazon, soon after the official announcement. If you’re searching for “DJI Osmo Action 6 release date,” keep an eye on DJI’s official site for teasers

Rumoured Specs: A 1-Inch Sensor and 8K Video Powerhouse

According to the latest rumours, the DJI Osmo Action 6 will feature a 1-inch sensor for extended dynamic range and more latitude in video files for extracting details in shadows and highlights. The other big advantage we get from having a large sensor is improved low-light performance. Resolution-wise wise we will have an 8k 30fps Video recording mode and 4k at higher frame rates for smooth slow-motion footage

Other leaked specs include:

  • Battery Life: A bigger 1950mAh battery backup allows you to record up to over 4 hours of 4K recording,
  • Stabilisation: Enhanced RockSteady+ with AI-assisted horizon levelling
  • Connectivity: Built-in integration with Garmin and Apple Watch for real-time fitness tracking and data overlays.
  • Design: Waterproof to 20m without a case, dual touchscreens, and improved controls for glove-friendly operation

One of the standout features rumored for the DJI Action 6 is its enhanced connectivity with the smartwatch you wear, so pairing up with a smartwatch will give you seamless extra control and data syncing during activities. Exclusive leaked images show the DJI Osmo Action 6 pairing up with a smartwatch, and you can clearly see the display showing “Osmo Action 6” on the watch screen.

Leaks and Images: What We’ve Seen So Far

We are the first website to leak the screenshot of the Action 6 Smartwatch integration.  We have already seen a lot of leaked images of the DJI Action 6 camera in FCCID (above).

Pricing and Availability

The DJI Action 6 will have very competitive pricing. Take a look at the expected price range of the camera:

  • Standard Combo: $329-$429 (includes camera, basic mounts, and one battery).
  • Adventure Combo: $479-$579 (adds extra batteries, protective case, and rugged mounts).

Well, DJI is rocking right now with its DJI Mini 5 Pro announcement, and just after that, we will have the DJI Osmo Nano on September 23, and finally, just after a few weeks or so, we will have the Action 6 camera around October 24, 2025. And all of these are not incremental updates – all these products coming one after another from DJI feature major upgrades inside them

DJI Pocket 4 NDA Leaked – Official Specs, Guidelines, and Size Comparison Revealed!

DJI Pocket 4 NDA Leaked – Official Specs, Guidelines, and Size Comparison Revealed!

DJI Pocket 4 NDA Leaked image

The DJ, your pocket for rumours, is heating up again since just a few hours ago, a highly reliable and trusted @Quadro_News dropped a teaser on X (formerly Twitter), although the NDA is in Chinese language that we have translated below at the very same time, he has written on top of it. “Everything is quiet for now, but something is coming”. Although the NDA is in a different language than we have translated below, at the very same time, he has written on the top of it. Everything is quiet for now, but something is coming. From the leaked Chinese instructions, it is very clear. The document is for the upcoming pocket for the Gimble camera, and this is our first glimpse of confirmed product details, which are coming out straight from DJI’s internal materials that include the model number, weight, dimensions, and detailed safety guidelines associated with the pocket for the camera. If the leaked information is correct, and we do believe it is, since it is coming from a highly trusted source. Then for sure, the DJI pocket four is a bit closer to launch than what we have previously thought, potentially, it may align with the late 2025 or early 2026. Announce now, let’s dive into the details.

The Leaked NDA Document: What It Reveals

The document, with the caption “Flight Safety and Battery Safety Guidelines (DJI OSMO POCKET 4),” The Guideline outlines standard precautions for safe use, but buried within are key specs that confirm this as the next-gen model:

  • Model: OP4
  • Weight: Approximately 116g (without accessories) – lighter than the Pocket 3’s 179g, hence easy to carry compared to the Pocket 3
  • Dimensions: 145 × 38.3 × 30 mm – More compact than its predecessor

The guidelines emphasise battery safety, usage tips, and warnings, which we’ve translated from Chinese for clarity:

Key Safety Instructions

  • General Warnings: It’s not a toy; it’s not suitable for children under 16 without adult supervision. Keep away from flammable/explosive environments.
  • Battery Safety:
    1. Use only original batteries.
    2. Avoid disassembling the Device, puncturing, or modifying batteries.
    3. Keep away from heat, fire, and direct sunlight.
    4. Prevent short-circuiting.
    5. Charge away from flammable materials.
    6. Handle leaks carefully (rinse with water and seek medical help if contacted).
    7. Dispose of per local regulations.
  • Usage Tips: Check for damage before use; avoid harsh weather; hold steadily; don’t point at sun/strong lights; avoid magnetic interference; store in dry, ventilated areas.
  • Charging: Use original/compatible chargers; avoid high temps or flammables; stop if overheating.
  • Firmware: Regularly update for performance and safety.
  • Other Precautions: Contains small parts (choking hazard); stop use if discomfort occurs; no self-repair; comply with laws; manufacturer not liable for misuse

The leak doesn’t reveal any core specification of the DGI pocket for camera, like we which includes the Dual camera design, inclusion of a 50 megapixel sensor, 4K 240 FPS video recording, and ActiveTrack 7.0 that we’ve discussed in prior posts (e.g., our coverage of the prototype images).

We have discussed a lot about the upcoming DJI pocket for camera specification in our previous post, and not only that, we have also published a lot of leaked prototype images. Those include dual camera setups.

However, it’s also true that for the first time, we have seen such detailed battery and flight safety guidelines. For sure, this time, DJI is a bit more concerned about the security and safety of the consumers, specifically in the ongoing competition market with Insta360, GoPro, and the upcoming vivo and Oppo handheld Gimble Best cameras

Size Comparison: DJI Pocket 4 vs. Pocket 3

We are doing a side-by-side comparison. The pocket 4 specification that we have listed below in the table is coming straight out of the document shared above by the reliable source.

Model: “OP4”

  • Weight: Approximately 116 g (without accessories)
  • Dimensions: 145×38.3×30 mm

Here’s a side-by-side comparison based on the leaked Pocket 4 specs and official DJI data for the Pocket 3 (standard unit with integrated battery/handle).

Feature DJI Osmo Pocket 3 DJI Osmo Pocket 4 (Leaked) Key Differences
Weight 179 g ~116 g (without accessories) Pocket 4 is 35% lighter, making it more pocketable and easier to carry. for extended handheld use like vlogging or travel.
Dimensions 139.7 × 42.2 × 33.5 mm (H × W × D) 145 × 38.3 × 30 mm (H × W × D) Pocket 4 is taller (by ~5 mm) but narrower (by ~4 mm) and thinner (by ~3.5 mm). The confirmed set of specifications suggests a sleeker, more streamlined design— enhancing portability.

As you can see, the DJI pocket four design is more refined, compact, and lightweight compared to the pocket 3, which was slightly bulky. The big reason behind the bulky design was maybe due to the rotatable screen and a heavy gimble head unit due to the presence of a large 1-inch sensor inside their pocket 3 body.

How This Fits into the Bigger Picture

Building on our earlier leaks:

  • The dual-camera prototype (August 31, 2025 post): We have clearly shown you the type of design prototypes have; the Dual-Camera setup consists of asymmetrical lenses and sensor modules, a Combo of Lidar and Image Sensor.
  • Rumoured specs (August 31, 2025) included 8K capabilities and a ~190g weight – but this document’s 116g figure indicates a slimmer base model, possibly with Pro variants adding bulk.
  • With DJI being a bit busy in clearing Pocket 3 inventory and facing U.S. tariffs, this NDA-teased document is a clear signal announcement is expected soon. Recently, a Chinese source also suggested the same, that DJI is currently clearing up the stocks to make space for Pocket 4.  (we have already mentioned this in our previous post)

DJI Pocket 4 Price: DJI Pocket 4 is expected to arrive at $699–799 price point, it could dominate with improved low-light performance, longer battery life (~180 minutes), and seamless Mic integration. Stay tuned – we’ll update as more leaks drop!

Panasonic Product Announcement on October 17th, 2025

Screen shot image

Screen shot of upcoming Lumix Camera – Actual Video is no longer available / Made private by the brand

Panasonic posted a teaser for a new product announcement on October 17th, 2025. However, just a few hours after posting, they made the video status private, which was a somewhat unusual move. Why did they do so? Usually, we have seen teasers like these announcing camera bodies, rather than lenses. There are only two cameras that can be considered for this announcement:

  •  Panasonic’s successor to the LUMIX S1H II
  •  A compact camera for the m4/3

Just a few days ago, we published the core specification of the Panasonic S1H II camera, which was published by a Chinese source. But, apart from that info, no other set of information is available related to the upcoming products on Oct 17th, 2025. The Next possibility is the arrival of a Compact Camera, LX100 Mark III (successor of LX100 II) or similar to that.

Stay tuned as soon as we get any new information, we will publish it.

Panasonic S1H II Specification Update [Latest Rumors – September 2025]

Fuji X-T30 III Price, Specs, and Release Date: Latest Rumours 2025

Fuji X-T30 II image

The Fuji X-T30 III is about to arrive. Before the official announcement of the camera, we have almost all the details related to it, including detailed specifications and the camera’s price, all in one place. I was really excited about the new generation of X-T30 series cameras, but when I found out that the camera would use the same 26MP sensor, I became a little disappointed. However, the fact remains: it is still coming with a 4th-gen 26MP sensor and 5th-gen X-Processor Pro, at least we will see some tracking performance improvement in the Fuji Entry Level Range. The information is coming from Fuji Rumours. This updated guide covers the latest on Fujifilm X-T30 III specs, price predictions, and release timeline as of October 10, 2025

Confirmed Rumours and Latest Updates on the Fujifilm X-T30 III

We already have confirmation related to the 26.1MP APS-C X-Trans CMOS 4 sensor, as well as the advanced X-Processor 5. But, we do have some body design improvements which include a dedicated film simulation dial, similar to those on the Fuji X-M5 and Fuji X-T50, so, finally, we have the drive dial out and the film simulation dial in, as a user can have quick access to the signature colour profiles of the Fuji cameras

The Fuji X-T30 III is not coming alone the camera is coming alongside with an new kit lens,  Fujinon XC 13-33mm f/3.5-6.3 OIS, The lens covers an ultrawide and zoom range, perfect for creating travel videos and capture images, but since the X-T30 III doesnt have vari-angle display screen do vlogging isnt’t possible with the new camera, so if u can still buy the Fuji X-T30 III for creating beautiful images not the vlogs. The X-T30 III Camera doesn’t have in-body sensor-shift image stabilisation, so having an OIS lens becomes a somewhat essential thing for users to get clear images.

Fuji X-T30 III Specification

Now, it’s time for the details Fuji X-T30 III specification. We do know that the X-T30 III Camera features a 26 MP sensor and a 5th-gen processing engine, but what else will we see inside the X-T30 II camera? Let’s dive into details …

  • Sensor: 26.1MP APS-C X-Trans CMOS 4 (back-illuminated for enhanced low-light and speed).
  • Processor: X-Processor 5, supporting AI-enhanced AF tracking, subject detection (people, animals, vehicles)
  • Autofocus: Phase-detection with 425 points, improved tracking, and real-time eye/face detection.
  • Burst Shooting: Up to 8fps mechanical, 20fps electronic (with crop), based on processor upgrades.
  • Video Capabilities: 4K/30p, Full HD/120p; F-Log Support, but no 6.2K as in higher models.
  • Viewfinder and Screen: 2.36M-dot OLED EVF and 3.0-inch tilting touchscreen LCD.
  • Battery Life: Approximately 390 shots (CIPA) with NP-W126S battery, benefiting from efficient processing.
  • Connectivity: Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, USB-C.
  • Build and Design: Identical to X-T30 II body (118mm × 83mm × 47mm, 383g with battery/card); retro SLR-style in black/silver, with the new film simulation dial replacing the drive dial.
  • Film Simulations: Full suite of 20+ modes, easily accessible via the dedicated dial.

Fujifilm X-T30 III Price: Staying Competitive

Fuji X-T30 III price at $999 to $1,099 body only.

Kit bundles:

  • Body + XC 15-45mm: $1,099–$1,199
  • Body + XC 13-33mm f/3.5-6.3 OIS: $1,149–$1,249

This position of the X-T30 III with the price tag is an excellent offering against competitors like the Canon EOS R10 ($979) or Sony A6400 ($998) (although both of them need an update)

Fujifilm X-T30 III Release Date: Announcement Imminent

The big update: Fuji X-T30 III coming October 23, 2025. Shipping of the camera is expected to follow in late October or early November 2025, aligning with holiday demand.

How Does the X-T30 III Compare to the X-T30 II and Competitors?

Here’s an updated comparison based on the latest leaks:

Feature Fujifilm X-T30 II (2021) Predicted Fujifilm X-T30 III (2025)
Sensor 26MP X-Trans CMOS 4 26.1MP X-Trans CMOS 4
Processor X-Processor 4 X-Processor 5
AF System 425-point PDAF 425 Point AF, but Enhanced PDAF with tracking
Video 4K/30p 4K/30p, Full HD/120p
IBIS No No
Price (Body) $899 $999–$1,099
Battery Life 380 shots ~390 shots
Unique Feature Drive Dial Film Simulation Dial

So, finally or the official announcement of the camera is about to happen on October 23, 2025, and obviously, it’s not a major update as you have seen from the specification comparison above. But, even this minor refresh is essential to keep the user base engaged and at least provide new users an option to hands-on new tech in almost the same price range as entry-level cameras. We have already seen the performance of the performance of the 26 MP 4th gen Sensor and X-Processo 5, having these two combo in an entry-level body sure uplifts the overall photography experience for beginners

Latest Sony A7V Rumours: Mid-November Announcement Possible, But Shipments Delayed to Q1 2026

Canon R6 Mark III Announcement Details

Nov 6 Canon R6 Mark III

We have already discussed in detail related to the Canon R6 Mark III camera announcement in our previous article. Now, according to reliable sources, Canon will unveil the EOS R6 Mark III alongside the affordable RF 45mm f/1.2 STM lens on November 6, 2025. So, the wait is finally over. Additionally, now we have a confirmed set of core specifications of the upcoming Canon R6 Mark III camera. Let’s dive into the details

Rumoured Specifications for the Canon EOS R6 Mark III

So, finally, we have the detailed specification of the Canon R6 Mark III camera.  Here’s a breakdown of the key rumoured specs:

  • Sensor: 32MP full-frame CMOS sensor, Cinema EOS C50.
  • Image Stabilisation (IBIS): Up to 6.5 stops (Thats a bit surprise to believe, since Canon R6 II has 8 Stops of IBIS)
  • Burst Shooting: 40fps with electronic shutter,  12ms sensor readout speed for rolling shutter-free action shots
  • ISO Range: Standard Maximum ISO of 64,000
  • Video Features: Open Gate recording and Oversampled 4K60p from full sensor readout.
  • Design and Build: No top LCD; updated EVF design with tally light and blue dot icon near the multi-function button, a bit similar to the higher-end models like the R5 Mark II and R1.

Canon R6 Mark III Price: Expected at €2,899 (approximately $3,100 USD)

Earlier rumours suggested a 24MP stacked sensor with 6K 60fps video, but, as per the latest information we have, the Canon R6 Mark III is using the same sensor as of Canon C50. The addition of the newly developed Sensor makes a dramatic shift in the core specification of the Canon R6 III. Canon is now putting a bit more pixel resolution this time, but it doesn’t mean they have compromised with the speed, still ur getting a 12ms readout speed from a 32MP sensor, a dream camera for both sports and landscape photographers.

Patent diagram for the Canon RF 45mm f1.2 STM lens

Patent diagram for the Canon RF 45mm f/1.2 STM lens

The Canon RF 45mm f/1.2 STM Lens: A Budget-Friendly Prime

The Canon RF 45mm F1.2 STM is coming along side with Canon R6 Mark III camera, I am really surprised to see the price ta,g which is at €599 (around $640 USD), If you are new you make feel still high, but for an 15 year old Canon camera and Lenses user, its really an big surprise to see Canon 45mm F1.2 Lens available at Under $700 from Canon itself, not an third party Lens maker. Although the lens doesn’t have the L series designation, it means we have to face some sort of compromise in weather sealing of the lens, not the optical performance. This makes it an attractive option for enthusiasts seeking shallow depth of field without breaking the bank.

Canon R6 Mark III

Leaked Image of the Canon EOS R6 Mark III: Real or Fake?

The good thing is that we do have a leaked image of the Canon R6 Mark III camera, but it is of low quality. We have tried to make it as clear as possible, but while working on the blurred image of the Canon R6 Mark III, our team member has mentioned that the shutter mode dial button, where the thumb is resting in the pic, isn’t circular. Which brings me to a conclusion that it may be a poor AI-generated Image, later on, someone added a Gaussian blur effect to make it feel real. So, I don’t want to make any further comment on the leaked image

The Canon EOS R6 Mark III will create a perfect balance between a higher resolution sensor and a perfect price tag. If the rumours are true, the for sure Nikon Z6 Mark III will soon get a very tough competitor in the hybrid camera market. Stay tuned to TheNewCamera.com for more updates

So, if you are searching for a compact camera like Canon SX740 HS, Powershot G15, Fuji X10, X30, you have reached to the very right place. Starting from the Canon SX740 HS, it’s a pocket zoom camera with 40X OIS optical zoom reach, DIGIC 8 Image Processor and a 3″ Tilting LCD Display, so if you want to take selfies or vlogs, the camera is ready for that.

The Canon PowerShot SX740 HS camera is in stock on Amazon.com. The camera is getting a lot of praise all over social media — specifically, you can check all of its online reviews, including YouTube reviews. It is one of the best cameras for casual and travel photographers, and also social media content creators — those who love to have higher zoom quality images or video compared to their smartphone. However, since the sensor is small, you are getting lower dynamic range compared to DSLR or mirrorless cameras, larger sensors, and RAW video or RAW images capability.

2. Canon PowerShot G15 Deals

I am a big fan of Canon Powershot G series cameras, and a proud owner of Canon Powershot G15, the best part of this small compact camera is its extensive manual control you get over the body. The compact camera allows you to take full manual control over the image. Using the Lens in Manual Focus mode is very easy with the peaking feature, and specifically very helpful when you’re shooting macros. The camera captures Full HD videos and has a vari-angle display screen.

Fuji X-10 Deal image

3. Fujifilm X10 Deals

The Mini Compact camera is a pure gem in terms of a Retro Compact Camera. The best build quality I’ve seen in a compact, ever, made die-cast magnesium body, made for someone who cares perhaps a bit too much about aesthetics, with a 12Mp 2/3″ EXR CMOS sensor that captures excellent low-light images, colours are more realistic, more lifelike, less harsh and digital. And the lens features a constant f/2.0-2.8 aperture and manual zooming capabilities with 4X Zoom. The camera is made for professional photographers who love to have a tiny DSLR in their pocket.

But before you order a refurbished or used camera, make sure the seller is legit and the camera does have a return window, so if you don’t like that camera, you can return

Fuji X10 (Used) Price Buy from Amazon.com
Fujifilm X10 12 MP EXR CMOS Digital Camera with f2.0-f2.8 4x Optical Zoom Lens and 2.8-Inch LCD (Used at AMazon.com) $514 Buy from Amazon.com

Fuji X-30 Deal image

4. Fujifilm X30 Deals

Fuji X30 is newer than Fuji X10, but most of the specs of both remain almost the same, the AF is more improved, as well as the display compared to X10. The Fuji X30 camera is for professional Photographers and those who love to try extensive manual control and love to have life-like, real JPEG images without any sort of overprocessing like today’s generation smartphones do. If you’re someone who has never used any sort of DSLR or Mirrorless camera with Manual controls, you may find it initially a bit difficult to operate the camera properly. So, I recommend those who know how to set up a manual shot, love to have a Fuji Pro compact camera, only they should buy this cam

Fujifilm X30 12 MP EXR CMOS Digital Camera with f2.0-f2.8 4x Optical Zoom Lens and 3-Inch LCD (Used at AMazon.com) $858 Buy from Amazon.com

Evolving Design: Dual-Camera Prototype Breaks Cover

We have a new Dual-Lens setup based camera module, and the good this is not from a single source; it has been shared from two different sources. That creates two different set of possibilities

  • DJI pocket 4 will be a bold departure from the single-lens design of its predecessors.
  • DJI Pocket 4 will be announced in different variants like DJI Pocket 4 and Pocket 4 Pro, and may be more than 2 of them to cover up consumer market as much as possible

We are just talking about the speculations right now, since we do know that 2026 will be a very competitive year for the Pocket 4 camera. Major smartphone manufacturers like OPPO, Vivo, and Xiaomi are rumoured to announce a Pocket 4 competitor, and we have covered the news here DJI Pocket 3 Style OPPO and Vivo Camera Coming in 2026  (Vivo is testing the Pocket-style camera prototypes already)

“Vivo is treating the effort as a priority with more than 200 staff and has already shown internal prototypes, sources said. As seen on – en.jiemian.com”

At the same time, GoPro is also working on a Pocket 3-style camera; we have spotted the patents and published them on our website too. At the end, Canon is also working on Pocket 4 Style camera patents, from 2024. So, this year, DJI may become a bit more serious about its pocket series camera and its upcoming potential competitors. Now, the cherry on top is Canon’s Pocket 3-style camera patents. Well, Canon already has V10, bit not able to show up in Camera rankings. Adding to the mix, Canon has been exploring Pocket 3 Style similar concepts that can appeal to a wider audience.

With this influx of potential challengers, DJI appears poised to take its Pocket series more seriously in 2025, as per the initial reports coming straight from Chinese sources. SDJI is currently running an aggressive discount on the Pocket 3 camera. It can be an effort to clear up the existing stock lines of the Pocket 3 and to make space for the Pocket 4 camera before the competition intensifies.

DJI’s Double 11 sale offers huge discounts! Pocket 3 is only 2799, starting at 0:00 on October 9th, directly facing potential competition next year from competitors like OPPO, vivo, and Xiaomi. They are clearing inventory to capture the market further, and there isn’t much time left for their competitors… Then they will release Pocket 4, and DJI will still have the advantage. Either those who should buy have already done so, or they will continue with the DJI ecosystem, waiting for the 4th-generation update. It can only be said that they are far ahead.

DJI Pocket 4 to use 50MP OmniVision Powerhouse?

Before we discuss the new 50 MP and 1/1.3-inch CMOS (OV50R40 ) sensor, specifically designed and developed for ‘action, vlog and pocket cameras’. We have to understand that 2026 will be an expanding market for pocket-style cameras where Makor players will make their official entry as we have discussed above, and for that, OV50R40 also boasts 110 dB Single Exposure HDR, in-sensor zoom cropping and can capture 8K video. Means a perfect candidate for a pocket-style camera with 8K recording capability and extended Dynamic Range.

The main housing around the cameras of the new prototype seems to be compact, potentially even slimmer than the Pocket 3’s module when compared.

DJI Pocket 4 Dual CAMERA Setup has a Small Housing Space, Not Suitable for a Large 1 Inch sensor, as we have seen on the Pocket 3 camera.

Latest Rumours from Notebookcheck.com indicate the 50MP sensor is a perfect candidate for the secondary camera, in the dual setup, so it can replace the primary 1-inch sensor module of the pocket 3 camera  (around 12MP) without affecting the performance. Enabling 4K/240fps slow-motion, expanded ISO range up to 16,000 for still images, and Hasselblad-tuned colour science for natural skin tones and cinematic grading. Featuring 10-bit colour and HDR, the DJI Pocket 4 (variants) is bound to deliver pro-level footage in a pocketable form

Such upgrades position the DJI Pocket 4 as a versatile tool for vloggers, filmmakers, and social media creators, with potential for 8K/30fps in boosted modes and uncropped slow-motion.

DJI Pocket 4 Dual Camera Rumoured Specification

  • Video and Imaging: 4K/240fps, 1080p/240fps slow-motion, D-Log M 10-bit color, and full-pixel fast focusing with Lidar Support.
  • Display and Controls: A 2.2-2.5-inch rotatable OLED touchscreen, possibly with a secondary rear display for selfies. (as seen over the leaked prototypes)
