Back on April in an interview Hasselblad hinted us that they are planning to announce new camera soon. Now if we look at lines of interview by WEXgraphics, we can see the hidden msg 😉 – More Surprises coming at Photokina 2016. That clearly indicates that Hassy is ready to announce interesting products in near future.
Q. Is this camera designed by or in collaboration with Fuji?
A. We have a fantastic relationship with Fuji, but this product has been completely designed, conceptualised and manufactured here in Sweden and assembled in Japan by Nittoh. Fuji has absolutely nothing to do with it
Q. Why is the price so low compared to other medium-format bodies?
A. The H camera is a modular concept, an established system that is for users that want to continually upgrade. Being mirrorless there is a price difference but we haven’t cut costs. We would like to reach more people
Q. Who is this camera aimed at?
A. It’s aimed at existing customers. But at the same time, we see the advanced amateurs as well as professionals who may want to upgrade to medium format coming to this camera
Q. How good are the new lenses?
A. These new XCD lenses have the same performance level as all of the H lenses, they are spectacular
Q. Anything for later in the year?
A. There’s more to come, but this is a milestone and a new path. But there will be more surprises at Photokina

The Hasselblad X1D vs Nikon D800E – If we look at both the camera it is very clear that Hasselblad X1D camera is not bigger than Nikon D800E, but at the same time if you look at the sensor size and dramatically larger lens-mount ring of X1D you can imagine the amount of effort Hasselblad team added to this project to make the system size portable, light weight and compact.

The difference in sensor size and body size of both the camera does look in proportion ? Fuji need to do some R&D in reducing the body fat of camera body 🙂

And finally Leica killer has arrived ? – Both, Leica and Hasselblad strike a very specific market of pro-photographers with pocket full of cash. But I think a large number of Leica users including Steve Huff will going to try hands on X1D. The Hasselblad X1D is a perfect machine with High quality Sony MF sensor inside it, that will sure going to surpass the performance of Leica fullframe mirrorless cameras.
Today Hasselblad finally revealed its X1D mirrorless camera today, the camera features 50 Megapixel Medium format sensor and ISO range upto 25600. The camera also features dust and weather resistant body and instead of announcing new flash range they made Hotshoe compatible with the existing Nikon flashes / Speedlights.
Two new lenses also announced with the system, 45mm F3.5 and 90mm F4.5 and more lenses are coming shortly , we expect a bunch of new lenses is coming at Photokina 2016. All the existing Hasselblad lenses are usable with the help of a external adapter.

I can confirm from the facebook post tags that the camera manufacturing unit is located inside Sweden and ucoming camera will have Medium format Sensor. We can speculate now the upcoming Camera is world first Medium Format mirrorless camera or may be compact camera, however we have to wait and watch.

Update – Hasselblad X1D Image Leaked
We have told earlier you you that Hasselblad is going to announce Medium-format mirrorless camera today. Petapixel leaked the images of the upcoming camera and also confirmed that the upcoming camera from Hasselblad name is Hasselblad X1D.
You can look at images of the camera without lens, the Medium-format sensor look gigantic, however Hasselblad managed to maintain sleek and flat design of the camera.
The price of the camera is expected to be around $8k and the official announcement is within next few hours.
According to latest rumors Hasselblad is ready to announce new camera on next week on June 22 or June 23. I just hope this time we don’t see a again re-branded Sony or Panasonic Camera. As we have already seen a bunch of re-branded camera from Hasselblad already that includes Hasselblad Lunar and Hasselblad Stellar cameras.
We were the first website to told you that Hasselblad is planning to announce several new products this year, just few days after the rumor Hasselblad announced H6D 50c and H6D 100c camera by having 50 MP and 100MP CMOS sensor respectively.
The announcement is not completed yet, the camera company is in the mood to announce more new products this year. However, the sales of Hasselblad Lunar completely stopped now and the Hassy may announce replacement for the same. So we may see a complete breakthrough by Hasselblad this year instead of re-branding Sony cameras, they may be a square sensor based MF camera or Hasselblad Digital X-Pan.
