In a statement issued by the Panasonic USA today, Panasonic said that user’s facing rubbed-off serial number problem isn’t a major issue, they should keep the label of the camera Box of that states the serial number of your G7 camera, and even if your serial number is completely wiped-off then there is no issue, your camera warranties will remain valid. You can register your product at Panasonic prodregister website to avoid any negative impact on the camera’s warranty.
Take a look at the press release
Panasonic statement:
Panasonic has just become aware that some customers who recently purchased DMC-G7s are experiencing rubbed-off printing of the camera’s serial number tag and we apologize for any concern this may have caused. Any reference that these are “knockoff” cameras is not factual. We have already informed our factory in Japan who is investigating these reports. Be assured that this will not have any negative impact on the camera’s warranty. Your warranty is validated by the proof of purchase from an official retailer and the serial number clearly appears on the carton’s UPC label. All customers should retain these two documents in addition to registering your camera on the Panasonic web site in the unlikely event that you require service.https://secure2.prodregister.com/pnaportal/index.aspx

Glimpse of the Japanese newspaper (translated via google)
Panasonic has developed a digital camera and broadcast business camera the number of pixels corresponding to the “8K” video shooting of 16 times the full high-definition, sequentially released in 2020. Toward 8K correspondence, it was undertaken on the development of next-generation image processing large-scale integrated circuit (LSI) “10th generation high-speed image processing Venus Engine”.
the Japanese newspaper is talking about Large-scale integration (LSI) chip, LSI chip is known as image processor in camera, the traditional LSI chip is made by integrating 1000 or more of transistors on a single silicon semiconductor microchip…now world has changed … the old LSI technology is replaced by very large-scale integration (VLSI) and ultra large-scale integration (ULSI) technologies, Panasonic may have adopted ultra large-scale integration (ULSI) technologies to build the new image processing engine to support 8k.

According to latest wired rumors coming above the surface, the to be announced Panasonic FZ300 is rumored to feature a 4/3 sensor inside a 16X optical Zoom lens, take a look at the rumored specification
Take a look at the rumored specification of the Panasonic FZ300 camera
Sony 4/3 sensor.
F1.8 up to 30mm, and at 200mm F 2.8.
F1.8 – F4
24-400 leica lens
FZ 1000 MKII (or FZ300) will be released in September.
Capacitive touchscreen, articulating LCD
2.36m EVF.
price will be $1499 USD.
The rumored specification also says the camera will have F1.8 aperture up to 30mm, and at 200mm F 2.8, that also clearly indicated that upto 8X optical zoom you have F2.8 aperture, that really a unbelievable specification.
If the rumor is true than the Panasonic FZ300 will sure take down the sales graph of big sensor compacts and APS-C or 4/3 mirrorless camera… since when you have a big 4/3 sensor compact camera with a ultra bright compact lens why you will look for a second option, The camera wide aperture range clearly indicates that it ill become a prefect tool for portrait shooters too.
