    Thanks for the lens recommendation, Does Sigma ART lenses are weather sealed ?

  • Zoran Simin

    For me, the best outdoor portrait lens is 135/2 L.It is an old construction but still the best.

  • Andrew

    There’s a pretty serious compatability issue with the Canon 5D IV and the Sigma 35/1.4 ART that’s been well observed, so I’m surprised you’ve listed this lens. Hopefully they’ll resolve the issue, but for now, everyone should be aware of it: https://www.slrlounge.com/sigma-issues-lens-incompatibility-warning-canon-5d-mark-iv-eos-cameras/

    @Andrew

    The Sigma lens issue occurring due to Canon 5D Mark IV built in Lens correction software algo which is made for Canon lenses. When a Sigma lens is mount over Canon body or any other brand lens we may see some wired results due to that.

    The only solution to this problem is to turn off the automatic lens correction tool

    To correct the issue 5D Mark IV and Sigma 35/1.4 ART issue

    Navigate to red menu 1 and locate Lens abberation correction
    Turn Peripheral illum corr to OFF

    Prefer the 70 to 200 F4 due to its lighter weight and portability. The lens is excellent and if 2.8 is not a necessity, it would be the preferred lens…price is right too.

    What about extenders for use with the 70-200 f2.8 IS lens for shooting sports? What size works best for the camera/lens combo? I have the Mark iv and I’m deciding between the 100-400 and 70-200. Thanks!

  • admin

    @Megan
    The Canon EF 70-200mm f/2.8 L USM Lens is compatible with the Canon Extender EF 1.4x II and the Canon Extender EF 2x II.

    But when you use extenders with the 70-200mm F2.8 the lens AF slows down. Hence, if you require more range for shooting then 100-400mm lens is a better choice.

    For example – when I mount my 70-200mm F2.8 L lens over a 2X extender it becomes 140-400mm f/5.6 lens. And sharp results are available at F8 only.

    I recommend you to buy 100-400mm lens instead of getting a 70-200mm F1.8 Lens with 1.4X or 2X extenders.
