Hasselblad - More Surprises at Photokina 2016

Photokina-2016-image

Back on April in an interview Hasselblad  hinted us that they are planning to announce new camera soon. Now if we look at lines of interview by WEXgraphics, we can see the hidden msg 😉 – More Surprises coming at Photokina 2016. That clearly indicates that Hassy is ready to announce interesting products in near future.

Q. Is this camera designed by or in collaboration with Fuji?
A. We have a fantastic relationship with Fuji, but this product has been completely designed, conceptualised and manufactured here in Sweden and assembled in Japan by Nittoh. Fuji has absolutely nothing to do with it

Q. Why is the price so low compared to other medium-format bodies?
A. The H camera is a modular concept, an established system that is for users that want to continually upgrade. Being mirrorless there is a price difference but we haven’t cut costs. We would like to reach more people

Q. Who is this camera aimed at?
A. It’s aimed at existing customers. But at the same time, we see the advanced amateurs as well as professionals who may want to upgrade to medium format coming to this camera

Q. How good are the new lenses?
A. These new XCD lenses have the same performance level as all of the H lenses, they are spectacular

Q. Anything for later in the year?
A. There’s more to come, but this is a milestone and a new path. But there will be more surprises at Photokina

Sensor

The Sony newly developed CMOS APS-C AF sensor features 24 MP resolution on the other hand small but poploar 4/3 sensor features 20 MP resoltuion

High resolution shot – The Olympus PEN-F is capable create 50 Megapixels image files to give you intense details. The camera uses 5-axis sensor shift mechanism to create large image files however you need a tripod for that. Sony A6300 doesn’t have built-in IS or high resolution mode.

Technology behind both the sensor

Sony 24 MP Exmor R CMOS sensor is build on latest HYBRID AF technology, the Hybrid CMOS AF sensor features a epic number of 425 Phase AF points and approx 169 contrast based AF points to do AF.

The AF points cover the entire screen of the camera and hence you never get a out-of-focus shot from the camera, the AF speed of the camera is also blazing fast and it takes approx 0.05 sec of time to acquires the AF in average lighting condition.

Introduction of 4D focus in the AXXXX series camera, Sony A6300 is the first E-mount mirrorless camera camera to get 4D AF after the SLT A77II camera.

The top continuous shooting rate of the A6300 is aprrox of 11 fps @ 24 MP for up to 21 raw frames in a single burst with AF and AE, 8 fps shooting in live view, and permits 14-bit raw file output. Enough for a $1K camera.

The Low-light performance: The A6300 camera features 1-stop more ISO range compared to PEN-F camera (51200 vs 25600), not only more ISO the Sony A6300 also features more bigger sensor compared to the Olympus PEN-F camera that clearly means the Sony sensor have more bigger photodiodes to capture light despite of slight increase in the resolution.

At the end of the day Sony will sure perform better in-terms of low-light performance compared to Olympus PEN-F camera.

The Olympus PEN-F uses traditional contrast detect AF system for acquiring AF, so without doubt we are confirmed that Sony A6300 will do faster AF compared to the Olympus PEN – F Mirrorless camera

Built-in Image Stabilization – The Olympus PEN-F features built-in 5-axis image stabilization that prevents camera shake upto 5 stops even when any type of lens used with the camera. The image stabilization is very useful while shooting tele-shots and macro images with the camera.

No built-in image stabilization is available inside the camera, users have to by OSS lenses to compensate camera shake and its a price investment.

Introduction of 4K: The  Sony A6300 camera features 4K video recording on the other hand the Olmypus PEN-F limited to Full HD video recording .

The Sony A6300 offers 4K video recording at 30 frames per second, Support is available for the S-Gamut3.Cine/S-Log-3 and S-Gamut3/S-Log3 profiles that enable up to a 1300% wider dynamic range for smoother tonal and color gradations, along with enhanced sensitivity and clarity in shadows and mid-tones.

The Sony A6300 features larger APS-C sensor that will sure give you more dynamic range compared to Olympus PEN-F with 4/3 sensor and not only sensor size the Sony also offers advance AF system that combines Phase and Contrast based AF system, fast continuous shooting speed and a option to record 4K videos under same price tag.

We recommend you to get the Sony A6300 camera over Olympus PEN-F.
