It has been a trend from the beginning that X100 Series uses Flagship camera sensor, so this time also won’t get surprised if you see 24.3MP APS-C X-Trans CMOS III Sensor inside the X200 camera. The AF system will also get improved similar to X-Pro 2 camera.
However, Fujirumor also published rumored specification of X200 camera based on information provided by the source, take a look at the information below.
The source also shared some specs. So the X200 should have:
– the 24MP sensor of the X-Pro2 (and therefore also faster AF)
– A new bright 28mm lens (also the Fujifilm X70 features a 28mm lens)
– and enhanced hybrid VF with better EVF refresh rate
– Digital converter 35/50
– Tiltscreen

Fujifilm X-Trans sensors and innovative camera design created a new sensation in the digital camera world, but after the announcement of X-T1 we haven’t seen any innovative product yet…. take a look at the chart below
As you can see from the chart that the 1st generation X-Trans used on X-Pro1, X-E1, X-M1 and the second generation of X-Trans II sensors are used in X100S, X-E2, X-T1, and X100T.
As you can see from 2012 to 2014 Fuji only introduced two type of X-Trans CMOS sensor (I & II), the first generation of X-Trans CMOS sensor life was only 1 year and after that Fuji introduced X-Trans II sensor and it’s almost two years passed and we haven’t seen any sign of X-Trans III sensor yet. The update of models like X-E2 and X-Pro 1 is overdue and Fuji users are waiting and waiting.
Due to the lack of new sensor technology (and a bit frustration) Finally Fuji did a little experiment, they announced a new X100T model having the same sensor as of it’s predecessor (X100S) by having negligible difference in core specification, you can also see the comparison here, as a result the X100T sales report was not satisfactory and finally Fuji decided to not to repeat the same mistake again.
Finally if we look at rumors Fuji is expected to announce a new X-Pro 2 camera along with new generation of X-Trans III sensor in Q1 of 2015..what I see is now Fuji need to work fast to introduce 3rd generation of X-Trans sensor in the market to restore his users and gain market share.
+ Also see – As we all know that Fujiflim is also working on organic sensor but it is still on development stage and not ready for use (see the news here),

Both camera look similar form outside but do they differ from inside or almost have same core specification, take a look at the core difference below…
Unfortunately both camera are using 16 Mp APS-C X-Trans CMOS II Sensor and EXR II image processor, hence the image quality will remains same from both the camera.
Both camera share same Fujinon 23mm f/2 Fixed Focal Length Lens,
Again in AF system there is no change, Both the camera shares same Hybrid AF system and AF points, so again no change here.
Since the sensor is same and image processor is also same, by implementing new image processing algorithm, Fuji is able to get ISO upto 51200. But it doesn’t mean you will see significant difference in the image quality of both the camera.
A redesigned shutter mechanism, which is now entirely electronic, also delivers quickened shutter speeds up to 1/32,000 sec.
Built-in WIFi to share your files easily without any physical pain.
Verdict: If you are a owner of X100S than wait for Fuji X200, since there is no change in the sensor, image processor and lens of both the camera.

Based on past and recent fuji rumors published worldwide, we have created a list of camera that may be announced this year. Fuji is planning to bring the successor of Fuji X20 camera with a big 1 inch sensor and advance core specification, X-30 expected to arrive in next few weeks.
The Fuji X-E1 kits are discontinued at B&H and body only available at lower prices (see here), the B&H and Amazon store also offering huge saving ($799 only) on the X-E2 body only (see B&H and Amazon), Fujifilm update its X-E(X) models every year and fuji is clearing its stock add new X-E3 model to its camera line-up, expected to announced on Sept-Oct 2014.
Fuji X-pro 1 update is overdue and based on latest rumors the X-pro 2 is coming with newly developed APS-C X-Trans sensor and advance image processor, the X-Pro 2 is rumored to be announced on the Photokina show.
Fuji X100 successor is also rumored to announce at Photokina 2014, some rumors surfaced earlier also suggest that Fuji X200 may go full-frame to compete with Sony RX1 series camera… the rumors look also true since fuji also increased its Fuji X20 sensor size from 2/3″ to 1 inch to compete with RX100 series models.

In a recent interview published at dpreview website Fujifilm manager Toshihisa Iida said
” Q.Will X-Trans sensors get bigger, in the future?……. Answer: At the moment we’re focusing on the APS-C format but in the longer term, after we’ve completed our lens lineup… I can’t deny the possibility. ”
It would make perfect sense for Fujifilm to release a FF X-Series camera since Sony already announced it at the end of 2013 and it is beyond any doubt that it is possible to do since Fujifilm is a expert in doing innovating things beyond consumer or competitors expectations.
I have a strong hope that we will soon see Fullframe compact and mirrorless camera from Fujifilm possibly at the end of 2014 or at the beginning of 2015.
