Canon announced 5D Mark 4 firmware update but this firmware update fixes few bugs to make the flagship more stable state. BTW, I was waiting for an update that will BOOM up video features told by the trusted sources of Rumor Mills.
Take a look at the list of improvements that Canon firmware version 1.0.4 offers to you
Firmware Version 1.0.4 incorporates the following fixes and improvements:
1. Fixes a phenomenon in which a red-colored area may appear at the bottom-center of a captured image when shooting in bulb mode or during a long exposure.
2. Fixes a phenomenon in which the autofocus may not respond when the autofocus is initiated via pressing the shutter button, the AF-ON button or the AE lock button when configured in the custom control menu.
3. Enhances the reliability of communications between the camera and SD card.
4. Fixes incorrect wording on the Finnish language menu screen.
Firmware Version 1.0.4 is for cameras with firmware Version 1.0.3 or earlier. If your camera’s firmware is already Version 1.0.4, it is not necessary to update the firmware.
When updating the firmware of your camera, please review the instructions thoroughly before you update the firmware.
The firmware update takes approximately 4 minutes.

VERY disappointed firmware update
Now why I am telling you that I am very disappointed with the latest firmware update published by Canon for the Canon 5D Mark 4 camera. Since, As rumor mill (canonrumor) predicated that next firmware update will going to add C-log support to Canon 5D Mark 4 and after reading that Particular rumor I was almost convinced that this will going to happen next… but this update really disappointed me deeply as well as the credibility of the trusted sources are again in question

We are getting a lot of questions daily from Canon SX60HS users, all asking the same – when Canon will going to announce SX70HS camera ? Many of SX60HS users moved towards Nikon P900 and many of them are still waiting for an update.
I am sharing a open letter written by one of our group members, take a detail look at the letter and do share your thoughts with us
Dear Canon,
I know that you are the best biggest photography company in the world, and that there is every probability that no one will ever stoop so low as to read this, however just maybe! I am going to write it anyway.
I have been a sx superzoom supporter since the very first one (sx1) and have had them all up to, and including, the sx60 and I am sick of only being fed false uncommented rumours and rubbish as to when (if ever) the new model (sx70?) is going to be released for over 2 and ½ years now, indeed is a new model ever going to be released at all?.
I realise that your customers don’t count and that you can just ignore them, even treat them with contempt, scrape them off the bottom of your shoes etc., however, your pathway to the top has been made possible by the loyalty and commitment to your brand, of these same supporters that your “secrecy” is now turning away to other brands, your placement in the market place will decline and others players will rise to take your place as the same disgruntled customers of yours shift their loyalty to other brands.
It takes so little to keep people informed these days, and when we know what is happening we can accept delays, we know problems and challenges arise but to be totally ignored is unacceptable and rude, why spend so much on advertising for new clients when you can’t keep the ones you’ve got happy? The best form of advertising is word on mouth and would you like to guess what the mouths are saying right now?? (You would not be happy)
And all this due to your arrogance and ignorance, it is one thing to have a great following but another to keep it, to vainly try to win it back when your actions (or lack of action) makes people move on to other brands, isn’t it is the first rule of business that once you have a following, keep them happy, a lot cheaper that way as well.
I am only one but all great journeys start with the first step and I am saying, your total lack of respect for your customers is degrading and contemptable, is it so hard to keep us informed as to what’s happening?
I realise that commercial sensitivity is something that needs to be taken into account but I would say that your opposition very likely knows all about your developments and other things just as you know about theirs. This blanket silence is rubbish and then to allow misguided rumours to circulate without any form of comment is crap, no wonder so many people are turning to cell phone cameras to your loss.
It’s time you realised that the difference between being the best and being at the bottom of the pile is satisfied customers and you are losing these hand over fist with your inward looking attitude, wake up and smell the flowers.
A very disgruntled supporter (temporary)

With the Help of ML Latest Hack the Canon 5D Mark III Records 4K Video and now you can use Silent Shutter too.
When Magic Lantern announced that Canon 5D Mark III can record 4K videos on April 1 2017 we have decided not to published and to wait for further confirmations. But recently we got confirmation from our subscribers and users that Magic Lantern firmware is actually working and it allow Canon 5D Mark III to record high resolution video.
Kudos to magic Lantern team for doing such a great work, it shows up the unused potential of the 5D Mk3 camera.
Canon 5D Mark III Write Speed Limit
Now let me tell you some insights of Canon 5D Mark 3 camera. If you use Lexar 64GB Professional 1066x CompactFlash Memory Card (UDMA 7) card in Canon 5D Mark 3 camera then you will get write speed of 95.3 megabytes per second which is quite fast but not sufficient if you wish to record a 4K video. Even if you use SanDisk Pro 64GB card then you will get exactly the same write speed.
Hence the Write Speed of the camera limiting it to record 4K videos, despite of the ML team successfully recorded 4K videos from the camera for few seconds and even you can try it too.
There are some issues while recording 4K videos with Canon 5D Mark 3 camera
- Recording limit of Canon 5D Mark 3 camera. The physical hardware as well as the software of the camera limit the write max speed 100MB/s, which will not allow for 4K@ 24fps to be recorded on the camera.
- If you force FullHD recording camera to record 4K or 3K video you may face Overheating due to overuse of hardware resources.
5D Mark III Records 3K video with 24fps and 14 bit
Yes there are some serious issues in recording 4K video from Canon 5D Mark III camera but you can easily record 3K video with 24fps and 14 bit – And the 3K video doesn’t touches the 100 MB/s threshold. New Resolutions Available with the Hacks Are
These are the video modes that can be activated with the latest ML hack:
- 1920×960 @ 50p (both 1:1 crop and full-frame – 3×3 pixel binning)
- 1920×800 @ 60p (same as above)
- 1920×1080 @ 45p and 48p (3×3 binning)
- 1920×1920 @ 24p (1:1 square crop)
- 3072×1920 @ 24p (1:1 crop)
- 3840×1600 @ 24p (1:1 crop)
- 4096×2560 @ 12.5p (1:1 crop)
- 4096×1440 @ 25p (1:1 crop)
- Full-resolution LiveView: 5796×3870 at 7.4 fps (128ms rolling shutter).
Canon 5D Mark III and Silent Shutter
One of the best features for Canon still shooters are the introduction of Silent shutter in Canon 5D Mark III camera. The new implementation will be usable at fast shutter speeds, without the exposure gradient
