Panasonic today announced the long rumored Panasonic GX8 camera today, the camera featured newly developed 20 Megapixel Sensor, until now the Panasonic and Olympus line of cameras were limited to 16 MP resolution, but Panasonic GX8 is the first camera that features a 20 MP Sony made IMX269 sensor, the camera ISO range touches the mark of upto 25600 and can capture continuous frames upto 8fps, the most important new feature introduced in the camera is “Dual IS”, the camera 5 axis IS get’s sync with lens based IS to give excellent results, and finally the camera also records 4K videos without an issue.

The Auto focus speed of the camera increased significantly, now the camera takes only 0.07 seconds of time to acquire AF on the subject, On the rear side we have a tilting 2.36M dot OLED viewfinder and a fully articulated 1.04M dot 3″ OLED touchscreen. Yes the camera is also splash proof, the overall specification of the GX8 camera even look better than GH4, we will going to publish a comparison review soon,

The Panasonic Lumix DMC-GX8 will be available from August in all-black or black-and-silver variants for $1199.99 body only.

Panasonic GX8 uses Sony 20MP IMX269 Sensor

We already know that Sony listed two of its newly developed 4/3 sensor back on April, 2015 on Sony American website. Now it’s pretty obvious after that particular news of Sony M4/3 sensor rumor-giants (like SAR) accidentally posted that Sony RX100 M4 coming with a M4/3 sensor, .. however all the source expectation and predictions goes wrong… RX100 arrived with 1″ sensor.

Now back to the point, that sensor resolution and dimension inside the newly announced GX8 camera shouting only one thing — Made by Sony, however we won’t get any official confirmation until Roger Cala of lensrentals or Chipworks publish a hands-on report with this camera.

Panasonic replied on G7 owners rubbed-off serial number problem

In a statement issued by the Panasonic USA today, Panasonic said that user’s facing rubbed-off serial number problem isn’t a major issue, they should keep the label of the camera Box of that states the serial number of your G7 camera, and even if your serial number is completely wiped-off then there is no issue, your camera warranties will remain valid. You can register your product at Panasonic prodregister website to avoid any negative impact on the camera’s warranty.

Panasonic has just become aware that some customers who recently purchased DMC-G7s are experiencing rubbed-off printing of the camera’s serial number tag and we apologize for any concern this may have caused. Any reference that these are “knockoff” cameras is not factual. We have already informed our factory in Japan who is investigating these reports. Be assured that this will not have any negative impact on the camera’s warranty. Your warranty is validated by the proof of purchase from an official retailer and the serial number clearly appears on the carton’s UPC label.
