Canon RF-S 15-45mm F4-6.3 patent spotted, the lens is coming in near future as a kit lens for Canon RF-S Mount APS-C Mirrorless cameras. Although at the moment we didn’t have the exact arrival time frame of the RF-S Camera or Lenses.

Although I am a bit surprised to see the STM designation, the focal length, and the aperture range of the lens. I just hope the patent hunter isn’t confused with the EF-M kit lens and RF-S Mount-based kit lens. Since, for now, Canon is using NanoUSM based motors in their lenses and the patent stated the lens with STM motors which is a bit unusual when we are talking about the kit lens of Canon’s future RF-S mount camera.

Canon R3 Video Specification now available, Canon USA today said in an official press release that the upcoming camera will record oversampled 4K , Canon Log3 and Raw internal recording. 8-stop IS support in video and in still mode.

The upcoming camera can shoot Raw bursts at 30 fps when used with compatible RF lenses. As usual, we know the Canon R3 coming with Canon most advanced DPAF system improved face/eye/head and animal detection, plus new car and motorcycle tracking capabilities. The Canon R3 will be able to use a Speedlite with an electronic shutter just like Sony A1.

Canon Announces Additional Details of EOS R3 Full-Frame Mirrorless Camera Currently In-Development
Following up on the announcement of the development of Canon’s most powerful professional full-frame camera, the EOS R3, Canon has new details to share on the upcoming product.
The upcoming EOS R3 will offer enhanced AF performance and tracking capabilities using Deep Learning technology, with even better face, eye, head, and animal body detection. The EOS R3 will add vehicle subject recognition and tracking for cars and motorcycles, ideal for photographers capturing fast-action motorsports.
The EOS R3 will be able to autofocus in extreme low light conditions up to EV-7, along with up to eight stops of coordinated IS control when used with RF lenses that feature Optical Image Stabilization. Users of the upcoming EOS R3 will be able to shoot 4K video with Canon Log 3 support, oversampled 4K, and RAW movie internal recording.
For added flexibility and the necessary support for high-speed image transfer, the EOS R3 will have Wired LAN and 5GHz Wi-Fi capability built-in. The new accessory shoe will provide further options for data communication and power while also supporting new accessories. In addition, the use of Canon Speedlite products will still be possible when the EOS R3’s electronic shutter is active.

More Leaked images of the Canon EOS R3 camera available now, this time a very clear rear side image of the upcoming camera reveled. As you can see a very robust design as of Canon professional 1DX Mark III DSLR cameras and a dedicated video Canon style video button on the right side of the viewfinder. And Multiple joystick buttons with full control on the handgrip just like PRO 1DX series DSLR. The display screen of the camera is a Veri-angle display screen which is really a piece of good news for professional shooters.
Canon EOS R3 development announcement was done by Canon on Mid April 2021, very few specs know to us and the official announcement of the camera is expected to happen in Q4 of 2021.

According to the latest rumors coming from rumor mills, there is a high possibility, Canon may announce a mirrorless version of the Canon 90D Mark II camera (aka Canon 90D successor). Although these rumors aren’t very new, we already have a bunch of rumors of Canon EOS R7 (Mirrorless version of Canon 7D Mk III).

There is a high possibility that these sensors are already present in the working prototypes of the Canon Fullframe Mirrorless camera. We all know Sony is a master of BSI Stacked CMOS sensor and for the first time Canon said in their Press release, They will use a full-frame stacked CMOS sensor with a back-illuminated design in Canon EOS R3 camera. So, the big question is does Canon actually made a stacked CMOS Sensor? or are they getting it from Sony?

We do know Canon 1″ inch uses Sony sensor in their G-Series compact cameras. Although they never shared DPAF details with Sony, that’s why Canon G7X Mark III despite using Sony 1″ BSI CMOS sensor doesn’t do DPAF (uses contrast-based AF for focus only). If Canon EOS R3 camera uses a BSI CMOS Stacked DPAF sensor then for sure it will become a class-leading camera undoubtedly. And in near future, we will also have a Canon G7X Mark IV camera with a 1″ DPAF Stacked BSI CMOS Sensor.

As we all know Canon EOS R3 Camera coming with an eye-controlled AF feature. Now take a look at a patent that shows eye-controlled AF features in the Canon Mirrorless camera. The patent was filed on October 16, 2020, and published on April 29, 2021.
The Menu below shows the options available to uses while setting up the eye-controlled AF feature. There is a lot of customization and controls can be seen in the images below.

As you can see in the image below, as you move your eye the focus bracket will also follow up your eye position and will do AF as per your viewing location.
