New Sensor image

New Sensor

We have some major difference between the first and second generation of these cameras film X T20 camera features third generation of X-Trans CMOS sensor that features more AF points, resolution by maintaing the same ISO range.

With the help of new sensor you can select from 91 to 325 AF points. Hence you have approx entire area of the screen under AF. And hence you can spot and track your subject in no time.

With combination of latest XProcessor PRO camera the camera offers you continues shooting speed of 8 fps while using mechanical shutter and 14fps while using electronic shutter.

But, the top continues shooting speed of X-T10 camera remains limited to 8fps.

Extended Standard ISO Range

Fuji X-T10 camera standard ISO range is 200-6400 whereas the Fuji X-T20 features ISO range of 200-12800. The high ISO range of both the camera remains same.

Advance AF system:

By redesigning the AF algorithm from the ground up, the X-T20 can now autofocus more accurately on points of light, low-contrast objects and subjects with fine details such as bird feathers and animal fur. The read speed of the Contrast AF system, which covers approx. 85% of the entire frame, has been doubled*7 compared to the previous model to enable faster and more accurate autofocusing. During video recording, the AF point transitions smoothly to track a moving subject to create natural looking footage.

Shutter

The vertical grip of the X-T2 camera allow you to use mechanical shutter upto 11fps. Whereas there the X-T20 doesn’t have such facility. Despite of this slight difference the shutter speed of both the camera is almost identical 14fps with the electronic shutter or 8fps with the mechanical shutter.

4K video recording (4K vs Full HD)

The use of Fujifilm’s unique sensor and image processing engine enables both Full HD (1920 x 1080) and 4K (3840 x 2160) video recording. Set the Drive Dial to “Movie” and select the 4K Video mode in the menu to record 4K video at the high bitrate of 100Mbps. Full HD video can be recorded at 59.94 fps, 50 fps, 29.97 fps, 25 fps, 24 fps and 23.98 fps.

Verdict:

The Fuji X-T20 features a lot of big and small upgrades compared to the predecessor.  Hence, we recommend you to get the Fuji X-T20 camera over X-T10.

New Sensor and AF System

We aren’t digging too much details here but as you know that the X-T1 uses IInd generation of X-trans sensor which features 16 MP resolution and only 49 AF points. Whereas, the III gen of X-Trans CMOS AF sensor carried a lot of design upgrades as well as new AF and image processing algorithm is implemented to outperform other flagship APS-C cameras of current generation.

The new sensor’s enhanced signal processing technology has even greater control over digital noise. Improved ISO sensitivity means ISO12800, only available as an extended ISO on the X-T10, is now available as a regular ISO option.

AF System

As we have already discussed that new sensor features more resolution and  325 AF points / you can select your AF points from 91 to 325 so you have a dense screen covered entirely with AF points. Whereas, the X-T1 limits itself with 49 AF points only.

4K Mode

The X-T20 is capable of recording both Full HD and 4K video using the X Series’ famous Film Simulation effects. Full HD video can be recorded at 59.94 fps, 50 fps, 29.97 fps, 25 fps, 24 fps and 23.98 fps. The X-T1 camera limited to Full HD videos at 60 FPS only.

ACROS mode

The Film Simulation function now features the ACROS mode. Using the X-Processor Pro’s advanced processing capability, the mode offers smooth gradation, deep blacks and beautiful textures to create monochrome images superior to the standard Monochrome mode.

Verdict:

We have seen a lot of upgrades in X-T20 camera, the X-T20 features new sensor and image processor and we are sure that the X-T20 camera is sully capable to give you BETTER IMAGE quality compared to X-T1. And hence, we recommend you to get the X-T20 camera over X-T1.

Both camera features same resolution sensor and ISO range, but as we know that the Fuji film uses X-Trans technology that eliminates the need of a low-pass filter inside the camera and hence you get 100% details even when the image of the camera is viewed at 100% scale.  The Sony A6500 does have same sensor as of Sony A6300 sensor but Sony have integrated a new LSI chip that enables faster processing of the camera image by reducing noise and maintaining high dynamic range even in low light condition.

Auto-focus System of the Sony A6500 camera is much improved compared to the Fuji X-T2. with Sony A6500 camera you get 425 Phase AF points and 169 contrast based AF points, a total of 594 AF points whereas Fuji X-T2 offers a total of 325 AF points in total.

One of the biggest advantage Sony offering to A6500 users (after advance AF system) is 5-axis image stabilization system. The 5 axis IS system compensate camera shake upto 5-stops (tested by CIPA) and even work more effectively when paired with OSS lenses of E-Mount system. The Fuji X-T2 doesn’t have any in-camera based Image Stabilization system.

The Mechanical shutter speed of Sony A6500 remains limited to 1/4000 whereas the Fuji X-T2 offers mechanical shutter speed of 1/8000 sec. Electronic shutter speed of both the camera is same 1/32000.

Both camera features 4K video recording at 30fps. Sony does a 6K readout to make a 4K video (1.54x oversampling) will give you enormous amount of details in videos. Wheras Fuji X-T2 uses 5K resolution frames to create 4K video that also brings out max details from the sensor. But the biggest problem of Fuji X-T2 camera that it can recorded internally for up to about 10 minutes, If you want to record video of more than 10min video is possible though with the addition of the optional Vertical Power Booster Grip users will be able to record for up to 30 minutes.

Sony A6500 offers touch screen display unit that allow users to touch and shoot, the other biggest advantage you can use the display of the A6500 camera as touch pad for selecting AF points while capturing images via viewfinder.

Noticeable Price difference is also there, Fuji X-T2 cost you $1599 whereas the Sony A6500 will cost you $1399 (Body Only).

Conclusion: We highly recommend you to get Sony A3500 camera over Fuji X-T2 camera. The Sony A6500 features Advance AF system, Built-in 5-axis image stabilization system and big buffer that will grab 301 frames of JPEG in a single burst. The touch display of the camera will also help you to grab hassle free frames.

Begining with megapixel, as uypu can see the Fuji as well as the Sony A6300 features same 24 MP resoltuion.

However keep in mind that the sensor architecture of both the camera is entirely different.

The Sony A6300 Sensor analysis

The Sony A6300 uses 24.2MP Exmor CMOS sensor pairs with the BIONZ X image processor, the image processor help the camera to boost its ISO range upto 51200. The sensor of the Sony A6300 camera uses thin copper wiring and enhanced circuit processing to boost low light-performance of the camera, reduce color noise as well as low-light noise, and increase readout speeds. The camera can shoot images upto 11 frames per second and with AF support the camera limits the continuous shooting speed to 8fps.

The Fuji X-T2 Sensor analysis

The Fuji X-T2 features  24.3MP APS-C X-Trans CMOS III sensor which comes with a randomized pixel array that elimiates the use of low pass filter inside the camera. The sensor mimic the organic film pattern and gives out stunning images. The camera with the help of its X-Processor Pro the camera can shoot upto 11 fps with battery grip and 8fps of shooting with continuous AF.

Auto Focus System

Despite of being a bit older product the Sony A6300 have more AF points (425 vs 325) compared to the Fuji X-T2 camera. The Sony A6300 covers more more AF screen compared to Fuji X-T2 camera.

4D Focus in Sony A6300

4D Focus system inside the Sony A6300 – the Sony A6300 camera uses 4D auto-focus system that enables 425 Phase AF points and 169 contrast-detection areas.

AF speeds of Fuji is up to 0.08 seconds And Sony AF speed is upto 0.05 seconds, that clearly indicates in standard lightning condition the Sony A6300 will perform better.

4K
Both camera record 4K video and supports raw recording modes S-Log3 Gamma / F-Log Gamma. Without going to details I must inform you that Sony A6300 does have some overheating issue when used to record 4K video at average room temperature. You can look at the matter here

Price Difference
Sony A6300 is under $1K camera whereas for Fuji X-T2 you have to pay approx $1.6K, that cealry means you have to pay $600 extra if you want to get Fuji X-T2.

Verdict: Both camera features excellent core specification, but if you are a still shooter we recommend you to get Sony A6300 camera, that features excellent core specification as well as low price, Fuji X-T2 recommended for Still as well as Video lovers to record videos without worrying about overheating issue.

Fuji X-T2 vs Fuji X-T1 High ISO TEST

Fuji X-T1 Sample Video

This is 4K Motion Picture shot on FUJIFILM X-T2 by Yoshihiro Enatsu of Marimo records. X-T2 is the first model to have 4K high definition video function for the FUJIFILM X Series. Now you can use film simulation such as ACROS, Provia, and Velvia in the 4K movie quality.

Fuji X-T2 Video Review

The sensor features the X-Trans array and no low-pass filter which is quite evident in the 4K results – they are extremely sharp. More so to my eye than the Sony cameras. You might actually want to tone down the sharpness as much as possible in-camera and in post and use a 180 degree shutter angle for a more natural look. – EOSHD

Take a look at the video below, uploaded by facebook user bigheadtaco, the video is captured by a pre-production model of the camera.

This is just a quick 4K video test on the new Fujifilm X-T2. Yes, this is the first Fujifilm X series camera that is 4K capable, so this is a big deal. I did have a pre-production model and I didn’t shoot in the most ideal conditions nor subject matter (4K selfie vlogging is weird); so look for a future video with more ideal 4K video subject matter.

For this video I used the XF18-55mm lens because of image stabilization, and I used the MIC-ST1 for audio. Remember the new X-T2 is more video-centric compared to previous X series bodies. The X-T2 now has a dedicated video mode via the DRIVE dial and using the shutter button to start and stop video, it has a dedicated 3.5mm audio input, it’s capable of 4K output to either SD UHS-II dual slots or via HDMI output to an external device.

*Remember to click the settings icon along the bottom of the video and change to 4K (2160P). Most often the default video quality is 1080P.

Engadget team spent 24 hours with the new Fuji X-T2 camera, take a look waht they have to say

The X-T2’s AF is fast and precise, especially if you’re coming from an X-T1 or, dare we say it, even an X-Pro2. So far, I haven’t come across any subjects, still or moving, the camera couldn’t handle. That said, I won’t make any final judgements until I’ve tested it in low-light conditions and more challenging scenarios than a day out in New York City….Engadget
