Canon R10 is a recently announced Hybrid camera. And Sony ZV–E10 is a dedicated V-logging interchangeable Lance camera. So which one of these is more suitable for photography and which one is more recommended for videography and cinematography?
Let’s discuss some basics: The Canon R10 and the Sony’s ZV E10 camera uses conventional CMOS sensors, none of these cameras are equipped with a BSI or a stacked CMOS sensor. At the same time, the resolution of both the cameras is exactly the same.
Updated Image Sensor in Canon R10
Canon has updated the microlens structure of their 24.2 mp APS-C CMOS sensor, so we may expect a little bit more sharpness from the canon R10 camera. All though we have to wait for studio test results to confirm this feature.
Now in photography not only image quality, but The autofocusing system is also a very important or integral part of the entire process

Autofocusing System
We know that both Canon and Sony make the world’s best autofocusing systems. But this time Canon has upscaled the dual pixel CMOS autofocusing system even in the mid-range camera. Now we are getting the 2nd generation of dual pixel CMOS autofocusing system in Canon R10. camera. And dedicated tracking modes to track animals, vehicles which include moving cars motorbikes, etc., as well as an artificially intelligent AF force to track any 3D moving subject.

So, if we compare both then Canon R10 does leads in core specs of the AF system. Although we have to also consider the Sony ZV-E10 camera also features a dedicated vlogging mode which is more usable to vloggers.

Video Capture
Canon R10 now captures oversampled 6k, and the camera also has the ability to capture 10BIT 4:2: videos in HDRPQ mode (output under MP4 wrapper), but at the same time, we have to admit the fact that no CLog is available in the camera… So now you can record high-quality 4k oversampled 10bit videos @ 24 and 30fps from the Canon R10 Camera. There is also an option to capture 4K 60p videos but at the same time, the video is excessively cropped so not so usable. Canon revoked the 30min time limit on the Canon R10 camera, for super slo-mo videos you also have an option to record Full HD Videos up to 120 FPS (With DPAF and no crop).
Sony ZV-E10 camera – Very suable camera at its price range, it does adore all bell and whistles that Camera perfect vlogging camera should have. But missing the 10-bit video recording mode like the Canon R10 camera. Sony ZV-E10 also does oversample and records videos up to 4k 60fps. We also have dedicated VLogging AF modes, like Product priority AF and beauty filters too.

For Still Shooters – If ur a photographer then yes Canon R10 features a perfect handgrip, an EVF. And also you get HDRPQ (HEIF) format for stills. And the ability to capture faster frames up to 23 fps and with a mechanical shutter up to 15 fps. And advance 2nd gen DPAF system with different modes and a larger AF group for perfect 3d subject tracking. I am not comparing image quality here since both of these cameras carry conventional CMOS sensors, so more or less both of them will produce similar output.
Recommendation – Camera Wise – Canon R10 Seems to be a perfect choice for photographers.
Best Video Camera The ability to record 10bit video makes Canon R10 a perfect camera for Videographers, beginner cinematographers, and Vloggers. Although the 10bit is limited to MP4 wrapper, yes you will get more details and latitude in your files compared to an 8bit file from ZV-E10. Although the Sony ZV-E10 does offer S-log profiles even those that are limited to 8-bit format. And yes an option to record in ALL-I Intra format whereas the Canon R10 recording formats in 4K are limited to IPB and IPB Light.
If Sony ZV-E10 was able to give us 10bit in any way, I would here definitely recommend the ZV-E10 camera for Video work. but since the camera is limited to 8bit only, So R10 is able to make a perfect space here with its HDRPQ 10-bit mode. Decide yourself, I would recommend you to get a 10bit camera since 8-bit videos can display over 16.7 million colors. When you switch to a 10-bit video, you can use more than 1 billion colors for your footage.
But if we consider the LENS ECOSYSTEM – We know that the Canon Lens mount is still closed to third-party lens makers, and at the same time, we have multiple options for Sony since they have publicly opened their E-Mount in 2018.
In Canon, if you already own Canon DSLR Lenses, then for sure you should only buy the Canon R10 Camera.
Final Verdict – If the available set of lenses and Price of Canon R10 fits to your budget and requirements for with Canon R10 Camera then, otherwise ZV-E10 is a decent option to have if available.

Coverage Lens
The coverage lens is specifically recommended for the wedding event when you cover the ring ceremony, group photo shoot, and other important rituals performed during that day.
Portrait Lens
For Pre-wedding shoot and boudoir photography, you need a portrait prime lens. So in this article, we are recommending you two basic essential lenses for every camera that falls in your budget range.

We are keeping DSLR recommendations
As usually you know the DSLRs are outdated and the DSLR makers are cannibalizing their DSLRs. The research and development on DSLR and their lenses also stopped so it’s worthless to recommend any DSLR camera for wedding photographers in the year 2023. in this article, we will be keeping out the DSLR cameras and that’s essential too.

The best wedding photography camera for the year 2023 is Nikon Z6 Mark II. Nikon Z6 Mark II camera is a very reasonable price camera, packed with amazing core specs. In that price range, no other camera maker offers such core specifications at such a price point.
Yeah, there was a time when we were recommending the Sony a73 camera to our users, but after the announcement of the Z6 mark 2 camera, everything changed. The Camera arrives with the enhanced core specification compared to the a73 so after that, we have started recommending the Z6 mark 2 camera.
Whether you are coming from Nikon D7500 or D750 this is a surprise upgrade for you. Nikon Z6II kit with the wonderful 24-70 f/4 S lens is a perfect combo for a wedding photographer. The IBIS in the Z6II is the best I ever used, I can handhold all the way down to 1/5th of a second with a 50mm lens! I don’t know what else to say about it, it’s an awesome camera and it works exactly the way it should. Easy to handle for my large hands and easier to walk around with.

2. Best Sony Camera and Lens for Wedding Photo and Video
Sony A7 IV is the best Sony Camera for wedding photography and video. The Sony A7 IV features an amazing 33 MP resolution and allows you to capture 10-bit 4k Oversampled videos. If you are interested in Sony cameras then we highly recommend you get the Sony A7 IV camera for wedding photography and video purpose.
Sony A7 IV with Tamron 28-75 G2 Lens and a portrait lens
Sony A7 IV is an excellent camera for wedding photographers when paired with Tamron 28-75mm F2.8 Lens. The 28-75mm F2.8 acts as an event coverage lens as well as a candid photography lens. Even if you are a Canon user feel free to migrate since now you guys have S-Cinetone support that will generate perfect skin tones while shooting portraits or recording a video.
The problem with Sony A74 is the overheating issues. if you live in the Asian region or somewhere near the equator and the summer season temperature ranges somewhere around 35° to 40 degrees centigrade, then recording videos with an A74 camera will be not so easy. You will regularly get heat warnings and auto shut-down after a max of 25-30min of recording 4k videos. even after increasing its threshold value. For wedding Cinematographers, those who are near the equator or the summer temperature of your region ranges above 35 degrees and above you should have another option for cinematography or videography like we have the Sony A7C camera or the Sony A7S III.
Sony A7IV after regular use of my Canon DSLRs. The A7IV is portable, lightweight and versatile, allowing me to move from taking stunning photos to recording video content for my clients which range from fashion to hospitality. Moving from photo to video shooting is smooth and does not break my workflow. I get to focus on capturing the moments. The kit is fantastic as-is, but I also purchased a 50mm 1.8 lens which I’ve been accustomed to shooting with. All in all, I would highly recommend the purchase if you’re in the market for a mirrorless camera.
What Nikon users say About Sony A7 IV
Coming from Nikon after 18 years it’s been a hard learning curve but worth every penny! Yes, the kit lens people say is a joke but it is what it is.I have made it work for studio work and am happy. Not a prime but it works. The camera is something else! Studio work, outdoors, birds, and sports it has done what I want and lots better. I am coming from a long line of Nikon cameras with the latest being the d750 and d850.

3. Best Budget Wedding Fullframe Camera from Sony
Sony A7C is the best budget full-frame Mirrorless camera of 2023 from Sony. You can use the camera for wedding photography and cinematography purpose. We highly recommend you to have this camera for prolonged video recording.
The Sony A7C is a budget full-frame cinema camera with Fastest Autofocus in its class. The Sony A7C is an incredible camera that outperformed my expectations, and highly recommended those who are into video. It has everything that a professional wedding photographer requires from a full-frame camera, you can shoot incredible still shots as well as you can also capture videos without any overheating issues.
The low light performance is outstanding, the overall image quality is superb, and the ergonomics of the camera work well, although you have slightly less physical control than the Sony A7 III. It feels like it’s a well-made/sturdy camera body but it’s not quite as large as other full-frame cameras that I’ve tried (small and compact). I recommend this camera to photographers or videographers of any skill level looking for a full-frame camera.

4. Best Wedding Fullframe Camera from Canon
The best Canon camera for wedding photographers is Canon R5. The other budget solution is Canon R6 if you want to have a more affordable camera. We have also selected the best budget lenses for Canon R5 Camera for wedding photographers.
The Canon R5’s newly developed 45 Megapixel sensor is just amazing, I am not able to believe the number of details visible in the captured image. One of the most noticeable things is its low-light performance, despite having a conventional CMOS sensor the camera produces amazingly well low-light images with shadow details, its performance matches with competitors’ BSI CMOS sensor-based cameras.
Canon R5 features Canon’s advanced hybrid artificial intelligent autofocusing system, which covers approximately 99% area of the frame, and object tracking, face tracking, and eyes tracking are just amazing.
I’ve had the R5 only a couple of weeks now, but really love it. The level of detail we get from this camera and the autofocus methods including eye-tracking is amazing.
5. Wedding Camera Package Under $1500
Let’s have a look list of cameras and lenses we have for wedding photographers and wedding cinematographers under $1500. These are the best combos available in 2023.
Exceptional Camera under Affordable Price Tag
Sony ZV-E10 for Wedding Cinematography and casual clicks Under $1500

Most of the time the camera remains out of the stock due to its high demand or the chip shortage Sony may be facing this time.

Sony ZV-E10 camera is one of the best and class-leading cameras, if we compare the specification against its competitors in the same price range, You will find Sony ZV–E10 is way ahead of others.
This camera is very similar to my a6400 for hundreds less. Same battery. Great vlogging camera at this price point. This camera has great features including 4k video and eye-tracking for clarity. The kit lens works better than I expected for videos.
The built-in mic is pretty good if you don’t want to carry around an external mic. I’d recommend purchasing the tripod with remote control. It works great on this camera and has cool features as well.
I’d recommend buying 2 extra batteries and an external battery charger. Out of the box you have to plug the entire camera into the outlet for the battery to charge. Happy vlogging everyone!

Nobody is paying attention to this little camera because it does not have the pro specs, it’s no dual card slot, it’s only 20.9 MP, it’s a huge mount with a small sensor, full-frame is better than APS-C, the lens selections are not good, blah…blah..blah… Everyone is missing out on the intention Nikon has on this camera and that is the FUN factor in photography. I have used Nikon D7100, D810, D850, D500, and the Z7. All of them are really great cameras. Well constructed, weather-sealed, rugged, and most of all aimed for professional use. I also have a bunch of Nikon lenses that you can say are also pro-grade. When Nikon first announced this camera I was not really thrilled like the way I was when they debuted the D850 and Z6/7. And like everyone before investing on new equipment I do research first before committing. When it became available for pre-order I went ahead and took the dive of getting one. Now that I tried it I was amazed at how compact this camera is. It literally a pocketable camera like its point and shoot cousins. The capabilities in stills and video is on par with my D500 except of the size, additional features, and weight. I take this camera with me most of the time than my other ones. It’s fun to shoot it. IMO it’s a better alternative than using my smartphone for taking photos at least the shape is familiar for me with that DSLR/Mirrorless feeling in your hand. The size makes good use for candid and street photography because it’s less noticeable and discrete. It’s a well-rounded camera for taking almost any kind of photography. The 20.9MP is just within the sweet spot for resolution good enough for a 13 x 19 size printout. I do not pixel peep or even scrutinize the resolution like Youtuber reviewers do because at the end of the day what matters most it your overall satisfaction with the product since you are the user.
If You are looking for a super budget wedding package then you should go with the Nikon Z50 camera, the camera features a perfect 20M low-light Sensor for perfect output during wedding sessions.

The latest news coming from Japan, according to the dclife.jp website Kitamura (one of the largest chains of camera stores) suspended the sales of the sony APS-C range of cameras and also stopped taking pre-orders.
Orders for Sony “α6600”, “α6400”, and “VLOGCAM ZV-E10” have been suspended due to delays in parts procurement due to the effects of global semiconductor shortages. You can also check the notation “Cannot purchase”.
We have to understand the chip shortage is not only for the APS-C lineup of cameras, Sony is using all its available resources to keep up the supply of full-frame cameras.
TNC Take – So, what we are discussing here, is the impact that is visible to our eyes. Let’s discuss the un-seen impact of the chip-shortage aka semiconductor shortage
Sony will not repeat the mistakes again as they did in the past, they have under-estimated the chip shortage issue. Now, as usual until and unless the issue gets resolved we won’t see any new APS-C Mirrorless camera announcement from Sony.
Why is Sony only Facing such a huge impact, whereas Canon M50 Mark II & Nikon Z50 is in stock right now? So, possibly there are two strong reasons
1. Canon and Nikon are able to manage the situation better than Sony OR
2. Due to very high demand and popularity Sony is not able to cope with the market.
The second point looks more logical to me since Sony announced Sony ZV-E10 and Sony A7 IV just prior to the chip shortage issue, and undoubtedly both of the cameras features class-leading core specification at their price range. Sony is more trouble than other camera makers is only due to the high demand.
2. Semiconductors Shortage affecting the camera industry
Why the hell semi-conductors will affect the camera industry in any way? But, I am from an engineering background and I can assure you that nowadays semiconductors are being used in each and every device which can process data in any form.
3. The reason behind the Shortage of Chips in 2022 aka semiconductor
After doing a little research I came to know there are three basic factors responsible for the global chip shortage
The COVID Backlog
Expansion vs Demand (Semi-conductor manufacturing units expansion not happing as per the demand of the market)
Crypto Currencies Miners raised the demand for semiconductor to the next level.
4. When will the Global chip shortage get resolved?
2022 will remain the way it is. But from 2023 we may see some sunshine. Intel helping our European Union to set up a semiconductor manufacturing unit there, TSMC (renowned chip maker) said it will invest $2.87 billion to expand production capacity in China. Many efforts have been taken worldwide in a big and small ways to resolve the chip shortage issue asap. So, the issue will get resolved but not very soon.
As we all know the Sony ZV-E10 is not available at many places, even at the time I am writing this article the Sony ZV-E10 is out of stock, and its expected availability wrote 2-4 months at least. So, in this article, we have tried to pick up the best alternatives for the Sony ZV-E10 camera
1. Best Canon cameras for Vlogging 2022
1. Canon EOS M50 Mark II – The Canon M50 Mark II is the nearest sibling of the Sony ZV-E10 camera. The only major disadvantage is the absence of a proper 4k video recording mode. Photography wise both camera features a 24MP sensor and an amazing AF system with tracking.
Recommended lenses for Canon EOS M50 Mark II for Vlogging – SIgma 16mm F1.4
Best Portrait Lens for Canon EOS M50 II Camera for Fashion and Model Photography Sigma 56mm F1.4
2. Slightly more expensive option is the M6 Mark II camera. If you want to create 4k YouTube content then the M6 Mark II camera is also sufficient for you. The only issue you will be facing while handheld-vlogging with the Canon M6 Mark II camera is the 180-degree tilting display screen. And when the screen is tilted it’s not so feasible to add an external microphone so you have to use a small ring (option 1 and option 2) tool to set up your microphone on the side of the camera.
Recommended lenses for Canon EOS M6 Mark II for Vlogging – SIgma 16mm F1.4
Best Portrait Lens for Canon EOS M6 II Camera for Fashion and Model Photography Sigma 56mm F1.4
I am not going to say it’s a perfect alternative to the Sony zv 10 cameras since it doesn’t create over-sample 4k video like it, but yeah it does create quality videos and with the proper lens you can get an amazing result from this camera too.
2. Best Fuji Camera for Vlogging 2022
In Fuji, the Fuji XT 200 camera is discontinued in the USA and Europe but is still available in the Asian region. so, if the Fuji X-T200 is available you can buy that too. And in the absence of the Fuji X-T200 camera. The only option left after that is the Fuji X-S10. And we also have the recently announced Fuji xt30 mark 2, but the Fuji X-T30 Mark II failed to impress me and I am not including it in my recommendation list since we have a very less price difference between the pretty xt30 mark 2 and the Fuji X-S10. So, it’s better to have a camera with a vari-angle display screen and built-in sensor-shift images stabilization system
3. Best Nikon Cameras for Vlogging
Nikon z50 is also a very good vlogging camera the only downside is the screen move in the downward direction. And if you are using a Gorillapod or a flexible tripod for vlogging the display will be blocked. So, to overcome that you have to use a small rig to fix the issue. All the having display in the downward side is not a major issue since when you are creating video blocks you are looking at the screen not in the camera display the display on the help you to frame your setup but it’s not always useful to look at the display and create content.
4. Best Compact Camera For Vlogging

High ISO Test
At ISO 3200 Visible loss of details starts from Canon Sensor. At the same time, Sony was able to somehow maintain the details even at 3200 ISO, but even in that image, we can see some visible color fringing started on the edges of the circle lines.
AT 25600 ISO both images are completely unable but, we can clearly see here Canon 200D II or SL3 sensor not able to maintain details as of the SOny ZV-E10 camera.
So, to make the test more clear to our users we have selected RAW format at ISO 25600. You can clearly see the level of color noise is higher on Canon sensor and slightly well maintained on Sony Sensor.
Better Metering and Faster Shooting Speed in Sony
Metering range in low-light is better in Canon compared to the Sony ZV-E10 Camera, as well as you can see we are getting 11FPS of continuous shooting speed with AI/AF tracking. In Canon, the continuous shooting speed is limited to 4.5 FPS.

In Video Mode – Sony ZV-E10 is better
Video Auto Focus – Video Autuofus in Canon 200D Mark II / Sl3 is very good at Full HD mode, in 4k video mode the DPAF support drops and we get CDAF (contrast) based AF support. In Sony, we don’t have to face such an issue, the AF is available all the time despite the shooting mode you have selected either Full HD or 4k.
4k Crop in Canon – In Canon 200D Mark II / SL3 Camera we have to face 1.6x furthermore crop in 4K video mode and as I have also mentioned above the DPAF support also drops. It, clearly means that 4K video mode was built for the specification sheet and not for users.
Sony Rolling shutter problem in Video: While shooting 4K video with a faster shutter speed you might see some jello effect while moving your camera since the sensor is 5 years old and coming out from the A6100/ A6400 camera. So, you have to buy a variable ND filter if you want to shoot Broll in Sunlight.
Sony Dedicated Video mode for Vloggers: Sony introduced several vlogger-friendly shooting modes in their Sony ZV1 camera. The same was also implemented on the Sony ZV-E10 camera. Some of the most usable modes include product showcase mode, Bokeh mode and Face Exposure Priority mode.
Both 3.5mm microphone and headphone ports are also featured for more advanced audio recording, and the Multi Interface Shoe also benefits audio recording capabilities.
Full HD recording at 120p, no 120p mode in Canon.
The directional 3-capsule microphone that is specifically designed for forward-directional audio recording. Also, a dedicated wind screen for the built-in mic is included to help achieve cleaner audio when working outdoors.

Verdict:
If you are a photographer and not interested in the video then Canon 200D Mark II / SL3 is a good camera with super affordable lens options out there. If you want a new generation vlogging camera with a fully capable 4K video mode then the ZV-E10 camera is made for you.
After the announcement of the Sony ZV-E10 camera, I am getting lots of questions about the image quality of the ZV-E10. People are confused and some youtube gurus are recommending that Sony A6400 camera image quality is 1 or 2 stop better than ZV-E10. So, thankfully, dpreview team updated their High ISO test database and finally added the name of the Sony ZV-E10 camera to the list.
Let’s take a look at the test samples of the Sony ZV-E10 camera image file
Sony ZV-E10 @ ISO 25600
We have selected all the four popular Sony APS-C Mirrorless cameras in the test. As you can see, The Sony A6000 camera showing up a significant amount of noise in the image sample file compared to the other three cameras in the list we have.
Sony ZV-E10 @ ISO 51200
We have selected the 51200 ISO range for the other three-camera, as you know that the ISO range of the Sony A6000 camera is limited to 25600. All the other three cameras showing almost identical performance compared to each other. The amount of color noise and details we are having looks similar in all the three samples we have from Sony A6100 / Sony ZV-E10, Sony A6400, and Sony A6600.
Sony A6400 and A6600 @ 102400
We have upscaled the ISO values again, as you all know that the Sony ZV-E10 camera remains limited to 51200, but with Sony A6400 and Sony A6600 camera, we are able to boost up the ISO range up to 102400. But, as you will notice the Image quality of both the camera becomes highly unusable at 102400, and practically it make no sense for the camera maker to unlock the ISO 102400 when we have such a huge amount of color noise as well as loss of details. It also clearly indicated to us that the sensor of all four cameras Sony A6100, Sony ZV-E10, Sony A6400, and Sony A6600 are almost the same as each other.
We are getting a lot of buzzes around related to the rolling shutter issue of the newly announced Sony ZV10 camera. is that issue is really big,? do we have to give so much attention to the problem or this is just a fuss created by someone who likes to have all the bells and whistles in a super budget 4k vlogging camera? Let’s find out
1. Why Sony ZV10 Camera has a Rolling shutter problem?
We all know for quality the Sony APS-C Mirrorless cameras and does oversample. During Oversampling process they read an enormous amount of 6k data and once the process is done users get their 4k high-quality file with sharpness, details, and less noise. But, here is the glitch, while processing so much amount of lag occurs resulting in a rolling shutter issue.
2. Less Rolling issues in Full HD Mode
Since the camera process 4times less data in Full HD video mode, the data processing done very quickly by the camera and you will notice very minimal rolling shutter effect while you are panning you camera. Its’ recommended to use Full HD video mode while moving fastly or panning with the camera.
3. How to fix Sony ZV10 Jello effect FIX
While walking and Running it’s recommend to use
Full HD Video Mode (later on updacle to 4k if required / optional)
Ultra wide lens with fast aperture (Sigma 16mm F1.4 ) and
ND filter that slows shutter speed in day time while using lens at MAX aperture and ads cinematic motion blur
Use active steady mode stabilization (optional)
If you follow all the 4 steps. This will miminize Your jello effect, promise.
4. Verdict
Sony must have used an updates 24MP CMOS Sensor fpr the ZV-E10 camera. If they have done so, I never posted the article I am writing now. But, fact of the matter is they have to minimize the production cost as low as possible to make sure Sony Sony ZV-E10 camera shuild give tough competition to Canon Full HD and Fuji 4k Capable Vlogging camera.
