Initially they may use this sensor for Panasonic GH5R? (just a thought) by limiting it to 4K or 6K video mode.

Now 2 years from now Panasonic representative told yes they are working to make a consumer camera available on 2020 Olympics with 8K video capability.

This year are expecting to see Panasonic GH6 camera with 6K capability coming on September 2018 [Pho0tokina event]. And after a year gap [2019] we will sure see a Panasonic GH8 K camera from Panasonic.
